Chapter 11: Chapter 11
A few hours earlier...
Three delinquents could be seen standing at the entrance to an alleyway. Unbeknownst to them there was a shrine built for a young girl that died recently. Her ghost was right there as they, intentionally or not, destroyed the offering. At first it was simply that they knocked it over but as time went on it was soon left in pieces could no longer be recognized as a shrine.
All she could do was stand there and cry, yelling at the hooligans to stop but they couldn't hear her. She yelled at passers-by but no one stopped to assist. Eventually she was left there all alone wondering how anyone could be so cruel. Wrapped up in nothing but negative thoughts, she slowly started to morph. Pain and anguish visible on her face she let out a cry that shook the nearby buildings. She'd find those 3 and then they'd pay. Everyone that didn't want to help her would pay.

'How could there be 2 of them? If anything there should be less thanks to the amount I killed right? No matter what there shouldn't be more! Anyways that punk should be able to handle it right? He finished the first one pretty quickly so one more shouldn't be too much of a stretch.'
Kagami and Yoruichi shared a look before using flash step to the Hollows' location. What he saw made him grit his teeth in anger. The big faced Hollow from the anime had Ichigo's sister Karin in hand while an injured Ichigo could be seen holding Yuzu. Rukia was being kept busy by a Pteradactyl looking Hollow whereas a large portion of the house was destroyed.
If things continued as they were Ichigo would be dead by the time Rukia freed herself. She was currently being squeezed rather tightly by it's clawa but he had faith she could get loose. But by then she might be too tired to fight another Hollow and the Kurosaki siblings would be dead. As much as he'd prefer to stay hidden he'd have to reveal himself.
Just as he was about to make a move, Rukia released a Kido which struck the Hollow's mask but not hard enough to kill it. Seeing the perfect chance, Kagami used flash step to appear on top of it's head and instinctively, in one quick thrust, pierced the mask. From Rukia's perspective it would as if her Kido destroyed it's mask but it was done hastily and she was even preparing to charge another one. Imagine her surprise when the Hollow started disintergrating, she was also sure that she saw movement through the smoke. Briefly stunned, she was left vulnerable to the Hollows last minute attack and she was sent flying into a nearby wall.
Reappearing by Yoruichi's side, Kagami watched as the weakened Rukia surprise attacked the Hollow and freed Karin. Ichigo impulsively tried to attack the Hollow further but Rukia was forced to block a coming blow to save him, weakening her further. The events then happened like in the Anime and the substitute Soul Reaper was born.
Ichigo made quick work of the Hollow and now that Kagami was also trained he had to admit he was not impressed. He did well considering he was fighting on instinct alone but everything was terribly sloppy. After everything was over, Ichigo fainted from using too much energy too quickly. Kagami was always curious as to how the memory wipe was done so he was especially attentive to this next part. His excitement quickly faded as he saw Kisuke slowly approach Rukia in his usual mysterious fashion. He briefly glanced in their direction before starting up a conversation with Rukia.
Realizing the excitement was over, Kagami relaxed and lay down on the roof they were using for their spying. He was about to ask Yoruichi's opinion on his stealth work when he noticed she was now in human form but staring at him as if looking at an alien. He gave her a questioning look but she simply directed her gaze to his hands. Only then he noticed he forgot to transform and he had just did several Flash Steps including one in mid-air. If that wasn't shocking enough he was now weilding the white katana which was left at home.
Realizing he had done some unusual feats and he couldn't explain them he simply looked at Yoruichi and smiled. "Still want those fish snacks?"

To say he had a strange day was an understatement. Ichigo woke up to both his sisters having no recollection of last night and them thinking that a truck ran into his house. As if that wasn't enough he went to school to find out that the Soul Reaper from last night was now in his class and the strange transfer student was absent. Could he have been attacked by one of those things too? And why did no one react to all of that chaos last night? And why did the Soul Reaper keep stepping on his feet? Was it so weird if they knew each other?
Rukia had successfully transferred in and quickly got along with Ichigo's classmates but why couldn't he take a hint. Not being able to stand it anymore she grabbed him and rushed off to the rooftop. While her actions may have been misunderstood she couldn't risk this idiot talking about what he knew in the classroom. As soon as they arrived on the rooftop she explained everything but was surprised when Ichigo asked her if she was connected to another transfer student.
'Another transfer? There was an incident here where 2 captains were deployed but there weren't any members left behind. It would explain the shadow I saw but why couldn't I sense him? And if there's really someone here then that means we're in trouble. I have to talk with Urahara.'

"We've already established I'm an odd one but can I go? I'd really prefer to not miss my entire 2nd day." (Kagami)
"It just doesn't make sense. While it's not unheard of to use a physical body and be capable of Flash step, it's definitely new to have someone summon their Zanpakuto. First it's tangible now it's summonable? You're becoming more and more absurd." (Kisuke)
"Yeah well as the expert if you can't understand it I won't even try. If that's all then I have to go. If I hurry I might make it by the start of 3rd period." (Kagami)
Kagami then hurried into his clothes and wasted to time getting to school, even using his newly revealed Flash step. Back in Kisuke's lab he could be seen with a pondering expression. Yoruichi simply looked on as he collected his thoughts then asked her questions.
"Don't you think he's taking this too easily? I mean I understand that this is all new to him but this is more than a little unusual." (Yoruichi)
"As you've said this is all new to him so he doesn't understand the greater meaning this has.....or so i'd like to believe. The other option has dire consequences. I'll try to get in touch with some old friends. In the meantime keep an eye on him. I'm afraid things are about to get crazy." (Kisuke)
Meanwhile Kagami had just walked into class only to see everyone staring at him. No one had expected him to be late after just one day. And now with Rukia these 2 transfer students were everyone's favorite conversation topic. No one was more shocked than Rukia however as she finally understood why Ichigo was so adamant on connecting the 2 of them. He had no Soul!
Kagami found his seat and began taking notes but it was hard for his senses to not notice the deadly stares Rukia gave him. When lunchtime came and she stood in front of his desk, he wasn't surprised. This obviously drew the attention of the entire class because this was the 2nd time in 2 days he was being cornered. Rumors are always easily created.
Already knowing where this was going, Kagami simply smiled and walked away knowing she would follow him. They initially drew a crowd but after turning a corner they disappeared, leaving their persuers stunned. They appeared a few hundred meters from the school on the roof of a building with Kagami carrying Rukia like a princess.
The abrupt grabbing and sudden Flash Step left her briefly stunned but after understanding her face was flushed red. She jumped from his arms and without warning released a Kido in his direction, leaving him no option but to dodge.
"Are you crazy?! You could have someone killed with that!!!" (Kagami)
"Oh yeah?! Well you...y-you...you deserved it anyways. And besides I knew you would dodge it" (Rukia)
"Bullshit! And what was your master plan if I didn't? I doubt anyone can survive that red beam shit through the chest!!" (Kagami)
"Yeah well that would've been your problem. And besides your no normal person. How did you perform Flash Step just now? And how can you not have a Soul?!" (Rukia)
"..." (Kagami)
"..." (Rukia)
"*Sigh... It's a long story" (Kagami)
Kagami told a story about how he was from an ancient family of supernatural warriors who mastered the art of concealment as well as other spiritual techniques. That they were protectors of their hometown but after the release of an ancient Hollow his family was wiped out. So with their family heirloom, 'The Moonlight Blade' he came here to Urahara who was a friend of his father. His hope is to one day seek revenge against this Hollow and then recreate his clan.
It was all a lie but knowing that Rukia was a huge fan of stories like that and because he wasn't yet ready to reveal his Soul Reaper identity, he came up with this. Needless to say it worked like a charm and Rukia could be seen watching him as if staring at her idol. Soon afterwards they had to return as lunch would soon be over. Rukia grabbed his hand but he abruptly lifted her in a princess carry and used flash step. When released she didn't attack him but he could see that she was obviously blushing again.
He didn't want to come off as a playboy or a flirt but it was fun seeing her react from his seemingly harmless actions. On the way to class she calmed down but upon entering and seeing the entire class staring at them she was left blushing again. This of course sent the class into a ferver and excited whispers could be heard.
