Chapter 2: Back to the Past
I could be in college. I could've been "Sam, the regular, introverted college student" right now. But, then again I never had the best luck. The thing that ruined my college experience, was the apocalypse. It came with monsters, and soon they became mutated. You see, in the past, we could've killed them easily. But ever since they became mutated, they were harder to kill. But one day, I stumbled across a ring. It was intriguing to me, to say the least. It was made out of silver, with a rectangle engraved in it. However, when I wore it, a rectangular hologram popped up, and it displayed my strength, speed, and stamina on it. Along with that, the ring seemed to also increase my stats. I found it, when I was 2 years into the apocalypse, nevertheless since everything was already mutated, it became too hard to level up.
And with the system, I soon became the last human on Earth. Even then, no matter how much I tried, I was still a human that made mistakes. So as my consciousness faded away, I made my first and final wish. "I wished I found the system earlier."
As soon as I made the wish, I felt myself transported into a black space. I recall a voice talking to me, telling me that they would grant my wish as long as I returned the earth back to how it was before.
I asked him why they chose me; he simply chuckled and replied that he couldn't protect the Earth anymore. That his (and now mine) enemy was too strong. He told me that he would send me back to the Earth (although it would be in the past), only if I would protect it. And without hesitation, I nodded.
Then he sent me back, but in the past.
