Chapter 35: HOLD MY HAND.
Imperial City at Newly Wed's apartment in midnight,
Seren woke up around 3:45 am at midnight. She saw Louis sleeping while hugging her. She blushed as she thought, " Why does he sleeps like a kid? Hugging me. Am I his teddy bear?".
Seren remembered something as she thought, " Wait. Why am I here? Wasn't I in the hospital? The last thing I remember was coming out of the changing room. Perhaps did I collapse? This weak body of mine. Can't you just wait until I got back home. This is so embarrassing. A doctor collapsed after doing a surgery".
She checked her hand and saw a white tape on it. She thought, " Guess I was put on IV. But if I collapsed in the hospital then how come I am here? Did this quack brought me home? I am going insane. Why did he had to carry me? Couldn't he just leave me alone? Now everyone in the hospital will make a fuss about this".
Seren slowly released herself from Louis's arms and got up. She drank some water before going out. She quietly went out of the apartment not to disturb Louis's sleep.
She came out on the street as she said, " This feels refreshing. A solo walk at night is the best when no one is around".
She walked on the street as she put her hands in her jeans pocket. Seren loved walking alone when there it was peaceful and no disturbance. She felt refreshed by taking a walk. Unknown to herself she reached somewhere an unfamiliar place. Seren was still new here as she had shifted with Louis just few weeks ago. She didn't much know about the premises nearby.
She tried to check her phone and wallet but she had a great epiphany, " How dumb of me ! I really did forgot my phone and wallet".
It was dark as it was midnight. Seren felt like someone approaching towards her from back. She didn't turn to look back at the person. Seren had learnt martial arts and many more sports so there was no doubt she can beat up a person really hard. Seren waited for the person to approach forwards so that it will be easier for her to fight back and catch him.
The person tried to keep his hand on Seren's shoulder but it was stopped as she heard a familiar voice, " Why are you trying to put your hands on my woman?".
Seren looked back and saw a man in his mid 30's and Louis. The man shrugged of his hand which Louis stopped.
The man asked, " Your woman? This lady looked like lost so I was trying to help her".
Louis looked at Seren as he asked, " Are you alright?".
Seren didn't reply anything. She was just thinking of the words Louis spoke just now. Those words ' my woman ' ringed in her ears countless times.
Looking the Seren silent...... the man gets suspicious of Louis as he asks, " Are you sure you know him miss? Do you want me to call the police?".
Louis replied annoyed, " We're married. Does that answer your question?".
The man commented, " You should treat your wife better. It's not good for a lady to be alone at this late night. If I had a pretty wife like that... I would've treated her like princess".
Louis glared at the man as he didn't like the thought of Seren being some other man's wife. Louis looked really scary so the man went a distance little far away.
The man called someone on the phone, " Hello. 911? I'd like to report a scary man".
Seren who was quiet till now came back to her senses as she said, " I think that man is really calling police".
Louis replied, " Yes. It looks like I'll get arrested for making my wife walk alone at this late hour".
Seren felt guilty as she was the one who came out without telling Louis.
Louis asked, " Before I get arrested, Can you please hug me wifey?".
Seren shocked and dumbfounded by Louis's words said, " huh?".
Louis tried to signal Seren pointing his eyes at the man who was staring at them and replied, " I almost died out of worry at the thought of not being able to find you. I rushed here and there searching for you. My legs are unsteady and my hands are shaking. I felt out of my mind. So can you please hug me?".
Louis opened his arms wide and Seren hugged him. Louis hugged her back as he held her in his arms tightly.
After hugging for a moment Louis asked, " Why aren't you wearing something warm? It's cold out here".
Seren replied, " I forgot my coat at home. I just wanted to come out for a walk but I got lost as I don't know the surroundings yet".
Louis removed his coat and covered it on Seren's body.
Seren immediately rejected, " It's fine. I like this atmosphere here".
Louis said, " You'll catch a cold. What will happen to your patients if the doctor herself gets sick. So wear it. Let's return home".
Seren accepted the coat. Louis and Seren both walked side by side.
Louis said as they walked, " I didn't expect you to understand my signal".
Seren asked, " Where did you learn those cheesy lines from?"
Louis replied, " I read it somewhere".
Seren commented, " I wonder what kind of weird books Mr. Edward reads".
Louis immediately replied, " No no. One of my friend's ex-girlfriend used to write novels. My friend asked me to read it and tell me about my thoughts on the story plot. Those lines were from that novel. Don't misunderstand me. I don't read those types of books. It was my friend's request that I couldn't deny".
It was dark everywhere and there were only few street lights.
Louis suddenly held Seren's hand as he said, " Hold my hand. It's dark in here".
Seren replied, " Am I a kid who will get lost in this darkness?".
Louis commented, " No. I'm a kid. So please hold my hand so I don't get lost. Also I feel cold".
Seren replied, " I told you I don't need your coat Mr. Edward. You can wear it" as she was trying to remove the coat.
But Louis stopped her as he said, " Don't remove it. You need it more than me. Just hold my hand. It feels warm like this".
Seren didn't say anything. There was complete silence for some time until Louis asked, " Seren you're 27 right?".
Seren said, " Why do you ask Mr. Edward?".
Louis replied, " You're hands are really small. It feels like I'm holding a teenager's hand".
Seren retracted her hand but Louis held it again as he said, " Let me hold you otherwise we might get lost again".
As they walked holding hands.... Louis raised his other hand and asked Seren to match it with her other hand.
Seren dumbfounded at first listened to him as he let out a soft chuckle and commented, " Your pinky finger is just half of mine".
Seren immediately retracted her other hand which she matched it to Louis only to hear him say, " My fingers are long so I can hold you tight. Guess we are a perfect match".
Seren blushed as she thought, ' What is happening with this quack? Did he hit his head somewhere? Why is he behaving like this? Asking me to hug him and hold his hand".
Louis was thinking something different, " She's cute. She even forgot her phone and coat at home just because she went out for a walk to refresh herself. I didn't expect her to really hug me when I asked. I was just trying to prove that man and wanted to show him that we are really married couple. Her hands are really small and cute. It feels warm in her embrace".
