Chapter 9: Street race pt.1

Dropping off Suki outside a garage, he drove to a hotel.

"I have a room booked under Bruce Walker," Bruce said to the receptionist who nodded at him with a gentle professional smile,

"Yes, there is a room." The receptionist said handing him a key, "It's room 302. Do you have any luggage, sir?"

"No, I packed lightly," Bruce said as he walked away from the receptionist, to his room.

Walking inside the luxurious hotel room, Bruce couldn't help but wonder why Cipher was being so kind. First the car, now the hotel, he wondered if she had poor money management skills or she was just trying to impress him.

But either way, he wasn't complaining. The first thing Bruce did walking into the room was go for the drawer, which had a file on his target and everyone around him and a cell phone.

Cipher's mission was simple. In fact, it was way too simple.

Cipher wanted Bruce to retrieve a hard drive from a man named Carter Verone, an Argentine-American drug lord. According to her, the files on the hard drive were worth quite a lot.

With Carter transporting his drug money off of Miami, he was going to take the hard disk along with him as well, to sell it on the black market. And he was currently hiring drivers for it.

The only catch being that, Carter's money and the hard drive were hidden as the F.B.I and the U.S. customs were involved in the debacle.

They even had an agent planted inside with Carter, who was now living as his girlfriend inside his mansion.

So all he had to do was wait a couple of days for the correct opportunity and kill Carter and his gang when he will be on the move to get his money off of this place. The mission was easy, like taking candy from a baby.

With the cops involved, he might have to make some adjustments here and there but he was confident enough to say for sure that this was the easiest mission he had ever done.

--------------------------------

After waking up at noon, like a lazy bum he went through the files again and began formulating a decisive plan that he could use.

He wondered if he could find that hard drive before the day of transporting it, but later scratched the idea when he realized that would be too much work and annoying, to say the least.

For now, all he had to do was make sure to keep track of Carter Verone, his escape routes, and the drivers he was going to hire. If he could find someone to infiltrate for him, that would make things even easier.

But even if couldn't find one all he had to do was pull the trigger, and take the stuff by force.

After the whole day spent meaningfully, he took a quick shower and wore a new set of casual clothes, as it was time to head to the location where Suki's race was going to be held.

Driving through the empty street where a lot of the roads had been closed, he started getting quite interested in street racing. With the way they worked, they could easily rob a bank and speed off towards the sunset with ease, as long as they did it without making any noise.

Looking at the crowd gathered in the middle of the street he could tell for sure that he was in the right place.

There were a lot of young people around. Loud music, hot girls, and fast cars, it could be said that this was a paradise for a lot of people.

The people around gave him the stink eye, as he drove by them, parking in an empty place after he noticed Suki's car in front of him ready to race.

Getting out of the car, it was quite weird with the way people were looking at him. Some girls were hitting him with the usual flirty smile, but for the most part, a lot of them seem to be on their toes.

Not minding them, Bruce walked towards Suki who noticed him.

"Hey, there," Bruce said giving her a quick hug as she hugged him back,

"I am glad you came."

"Wouldn't miss it for the world." Bruce said cheekily with his hands wrapped up around her waist, "It seems your friends here aren't too welcoming to strangers."

"That's how it is," Suki said shrugging, "Welcome to my part of the world!"

"I certainly do feel welcomed," Bruce said sarcastically, "So you confident in winning?"

"I am, these guys here aren't that much of a competition," Suki said,

Bruce nodded checking the other racers, he didn't know much about cars but he knew enough about the street racers that have, NOS fitted into their system and crazy ass engines giving them enough power to blow themselves off.

Suki's car was the one of the fastest ones as far as he could tell, if you disregarded the pink color and the anime girl on the side, this car was a beast. It was a car that'll always fall under top 50 for any person. Honda S2000, this baby was a beast alongside the modification. All it mattered for this race was Suki's ability.

With the drivers being the one transporting the actual goods for Carter, he needed a back up plan incase things didn't go according to his original one. He needed someone fast enough to catch up to the drivers and intercept them.

With his skill, it was nearly impossible. If he tried to seriously get himself involve in racing he could definitely catch up to Suki's level in less than a month but he didn't have a month worth of time. So with how little connections he had, his best chance was Suki.

So other than cheering for Suki here, his job was to judge her skills. And some how convince her to join his team for this 'job' of his.

Bruce looked around the crowd, as it was a habit of his to the judge people around him to make sure he could be ahead of every situation he was in, when his eyes met a certain woman who was standing by the sidelines. The woman was surprisingly beautiful, but that wasn't the intriguing part about her.

Normally, he wouldn't care about this sort of stuff, after all, Suki was an exception and he wasn't the type to go all over the town trying to get with every woman he met. In fact, if he had to be honest, it was the first time he ever hit on a girl like that.

But this woman on the sideline was interesting because she was none other than the agent planted by the U.S. customs.

"You've got guts to be staring at another woman when you've your arms wrapped around me," Suki said following his gaze,

"She's from work," Bruce said looking back at Suki, "Does she come here often?"

"I have never seen her before," Suki said, "But it's not hard for girls to get in here. As long as they are a hot piece of ass, any one of these perverts would let them in without any hesitation."

"So with that logic, I am technically a hot piece of ass bought here by you." Bruce joked with his expression turning sour, "That really feels a bit demeaning now that I've put it that way."

"Well, I am glad to have a hot piece of ass with me," Suki laughed, "I can't decide if you look better with a suit on or just your casual clothes."

"Hey, eyes up here miss," Bruce said with a smile.

The girls from Suki's crew started coughing as he looked in the direction, where Suki turned towards, as a black guy with an afro walked in front.

"Come on Tej! let's get this race going!" Said the driver next to Suki.

"Wait a second! man." The afro guy who was apparently Tej said as he turned to the other driver, "You cats are first wave! Where's your fourth at?"

"It was Joaquin, but he had to work the graveyard shift," The driver said, "Why don't you run with us, Tej?'

"Hell no, I am not running with y'all." Tej said, "I tell you what, either you find a fourth driver or you don't race. How about that?"

"We should find two, so we don't have to roll with skirt here." The driver next to Suki said clearly poking fun at her as his gaze shifted to Bruce, "How about we have the pretty boy over here race, then? I see he has a bought a ride with him."
