Chapter 1: The Deal

When the two boys thought of their summer, various activities would have come to mind. They seemed to be set on doing at least one thing that was out of the routine that was set into their daily lives, especially with school now out of the way. Unfortunately for them, nothing really went according to plan, and they spent the better section of two and a half months stuck in their routine.

Throughout these months Leon had become hyper-aware of their brothers' emotions, as he now easily became bored, no matter what the subject. They could not deny that they had confronted the other a couple of times due to his mood. Though, unfortunately, nothing worked; they would watch each time as Liam would put on that fake smile that he knew all too well and try to convince them that everything was fine. Although Leon knew otherwise.

So now here they were, talking on Liam's bed trying to distract each other from the fact that school would reopen soon and from the heat. They were discussing various random topics, no matter what they were. Liam laid on the bed with one arm hanging off the edge, while the other pressed against his forehead. Leon was leaning against the headboard with a book in their hands, which they were attempting to read as well as listen to Liam as he spoke.

"Yeah, but Ryan Reynolds is hot though." Liam commented, seemingly very content with his answer. Leon, on the other hand, peered over their book, giving the other a puzzled look. "We were talking about Princes; how did you manage to pull Ryan Reynolds into the conversation?"

"I thought we were just talking about hot guys, fictional, or not?" Liam said in a questioning tone; this time he turned his head, tilting it a bit, so he could get a better look at the other before arching one of his eyebrows.

Now that they think about it, that was what their conversation had boiled down to. If they could remember correctly, the conversation had begun with the two giving their opinions on random movies based on writing, characters and execution. After that, they were not sure what they talked about, but somehow it led to this.

Liam, seeing the others' calculating look, lets out an exasperated sigh before turning back over to face the ceiling; letting his hand that was once on his forehead, reside on his chest. Seemingly having something on his mind, evident due to the troubled look that rested on his face. Leon, having yet to notice this, answers his statement-like question while slightly nodding their head. "Yes, I suppose you are right."

When they heard the hum of acknowledgment they were, admittedly, very confused. If it were any other day, Liam would have gone off on them for not paying much attention to their conversation. Today, however, was obviously different, as he had somehow remained uncharacteristically quiet throughout the day.

Leon, with the assumption that something was bothering the other, closed their book before setting it to the side, their full focus now on Liam. They opened their mouth to say something before closing it back again, attempting to find the proper words to say. They did this a few more times and was now sitting with their legs crossed and their head in their hand. Who knew that doing this would be so hard?

A solid five minutes of awkward silence filled the room, neither seeming to have anything to say. It took a while for Liam to catch on, only realizing that the other had something to say; due to the way their eyebrows were furrowed, and they had their eyes focused on him. Raising an eyebrow, he watched the other with curiosity present in his eyes. "Are you alright? You seem to have something on your mind." He asked slowly and carefully, as to not upset the other, in case it was a sensitive topic. Though it would be odd to bring up something serious like that, he quickly remembered that Leon could be quite random and spontaneous.

Leon jumped a bit, seemingly snapping out of their thoughts. Even with this being the case, they wasted no time in answering. "I could ask you the same thing." Liam was obviously quite surprised at the response, as his eyes widened just a bit before returning to their regular look.

"It's nothing important. Don't worry about it." At this point, Liam had averted his eyes so that they now stared at the ceiling. Leon did not say anything, knowing that the other would not be able to contain himself from spewing out what was on his mind. So, they waited, and after a couple seconds, he broke.

"It's just that." He started, catching the other's attention. "Don't you feel like we could've done more during the vacation? I mean, we just had to stick to some crappy routine where half the time, we're just stuck here." As he spoke, Leon noticed that his hands moved as he spoke and how his voice laced with annoyance. They knew that Liam was correct with his statement. They had not really done much.

They watched as Liam sat up, readjusting his position so that he was now facing them. "I mean, one week 'till school reopens and I'm expected to just sit here and do nothing?" At this point, his voice had raised slightly, and his annoyance was much clearer. Liam closed his eyes and took a deep breath, calming himself.

"You agree with me, don't you?" With that, they just let out a hum as a temporary response before giving their actual response.

"Though I believe that one week isn't long enough to plan anything. I do agree with your statement." Leon confirmed, seeing as Liam's face lit up a bit and the way his lip slightly twitched upwards. Just looking at the other, they knew that he was about to suggest something irresponsible.

Though they expected better from Liam, they knew what he had going on in his head. "No, whatever crazy plan you have formulating in that head of yours, I suggest you keep it there."

"But-"

"No."

"C'mon!"

"Absolutely not."

At this point, Liam had to find another way to convince his brother. He did not know what he could do. He knew that Leon preferred material value to emotional value. He folded his arms before glancing back over to Leon, only to see them flipping through the pages of the book they were previously reading earlier, that they had carelessly forgotten the mark before setting it down. It did not take long before something popped into his head.

"I'll wear that skirt that I had to wear when I lost that bet last week. For a week. Whichever one it may be anyway." This seemed to pique the other's interest as they stopped flipping through pages and merely looked at him, eyebrow raised and eyes curious. "You serious?" Liam nodded, just happy that they were even considering it.

"Alright. Though it starts from tomorrow since tomorrow is Monday." Once again, he nodded, just to make sure that they knew he was not lying again.

"Deal?" He put out his hand out for the other to take so that it was sealed. They took Liam's hand giving it a firm shake before pulling their hand back.

"Deal."
