Chapter 101: Let the War Council Begin
Hearing Vance's greeting, most of the people in the room looked at him with confusion and doubt in their eyes. Seeing that there were many others who were just as doubtful as him, a sleazy looking advisor spoke up to John.
"Your Majesty, I don't mean to doubt you, but you say this... boy, is the most powerful person you've ever met? What of the Archmagus that destroyed what was once Mount Celcior? You are telling us that this young man, of about 17 or 18, is the most powerful person you have met? Please elaborate so that we, your most loyal council, can understand your thoughts."
Hearing how much the man doubted him, Vance crossed his arms and smirked, he thought to himself how funny it would be to make the man simply trip and fall over nothing, or make his clothing disappear. He then decided to restrain himself for the sake of Hope and Jess who were standing next to him. As if he could sense Vance's thoughts, John spoke up on his behalf.
"You doubt me, sure, but do any of you know of someone capable of wiping out an entire army by himself without getting hurt, and being able to capture the enemy general, using not only magic, but physical combat as well? Putting aside the fact that he is the loved one of my daughters, if he truly desired, I am fully confident in his ability to destroy this kingdom with ease. If you do not trust my assessment, which if you explained this doubt any worse could be considered treason, you may ask Leonard, the general he fought in only physical combat, not even using his magical abilities."
Hearing that their valiant general was defeated, the advisors were once again shocked. They quickly looked at Leonard, as if asking him to verify the king's claims. To their surprise, he sighed and nodded his head before opening his mouth to speak.
"The kid is indeed extremely powerful. To make this matter even more shocking, we've never seen him use his full strength. For anything at all."
His words shocked and frightened the advisors who quickly looked back at Vance with no small amount of horror in their eyes.
"If everyone is done talking about how strong I am, can we talk about the war? Me and the girls got way stronger for this. Plus, I may be able to take an army on alone, but I can't protect a whole kingdom, the people I care about, and fight an army in one go. At least not yet, maybe in a few days though."
This declaration shocked even John and Lucy, who somewhat knew that Vance could quickly get stronger. Lucy, who decided that they spent enough time being shocked by Vance, decided to speak up.
"Well then, this discussion has turned away from what is truly at hand here. So, I say, let the war council begin!"
