Chapter 47: 47. 2nd Gear
Ben gets excited when he finds out about the woman's magic. It's a new magic that he never knew before. Her magic can connect her comrades' sight, or maybe even their sense.
He wants to know how her magic works. But AI Chip can't scan it, so he needs to ask the woman even if he needs to force her a little. Ben always likes to learn new magic, although it doesn't mean that he will use it. He just likes to increase AI Chip's magic database.
'Fighting them to gain more experience isn't my priority again now. I will finish this fast and learn their magic. The acid & rope magic is interesting too. I never learned them before,' thinks Ben.
"Bella, you can attack. But just immobilize them." Ben instructs Bella.
"Horay~" Bella becomes happy.
Ben takes his revolver and spins the cylinder to use the lightning attack. Bella starts to shoot at the 3rd man who controls flying blades. The man gets surprised and can't block Bella's Gatling shots.
She aim at his body and hit him perfectly. The rapid attack makes him can't move to use his magic. So he gets defeated instantly after some rounds.
Luckily, magic attacks aren't physical attacks. So it doesn't destroy his body and as a mage, he is strong enough to receive those attacks. But he's still injured and the rapid-fire knock him out instantly.
The 3 other mages get surprised. Ben uses this chance to shoots at the 1st man who uses rope magic. He shoots with lightning bullets many times. The shots electrocute the man and knocking him out too.
The 2nd man and the woman now get very surprised. They seem to fight equally just now and even gain the advantage. But in an instant, 2 of their comrades get defeated after Ben & Bella pull out their weapons.
But they return to their sense soon when Bella starts to shoot again. The man makes an acid wall to block Bella's shots. But then Ben flashes to him from his right and punches him in the face.
The man flings away, leaving the woman alone. Ben chases the man, while Bella keeps shooting at the woman. This man seems to be their leader because the woman is hiding behind him. So Ben knows he is the strongest among these mages.
Ben's hunch is right, the man is the leader and the strongest mage in their group. The man gets up easily after receiving Ben's punch. He makes a big green magic circle under his feet. Then a lot of green acids appear around him and he shapes them into tentacles.
"Acidic Whips!" The man shout his spell's name.
The acid tentacles start to slap at Ben like whips. Ben dodge the tentacles and they hit the ground. The acid corrodes the ground at a fast rate upon contact.
Ben frown because if he keeps dodging, then the acid will corrode the ground around him. He will lose his foothold slowly if he let that happens. He needs to attack and destroy the tentacles.
Ben adds more power to the light magic that covers his feet. He keeps dodging while adding the power. Then after he adds enough power, Ben uses the light to propel himself up.
Ben jumps 15 meters high and gathers magic power in his hands. He covers his right hand with solar energy and creates an orange magic circle in front of him. He even make a 2 m magic circle in front of the 50 cm magic circle.
The man below knows Ben wants to use a big attack. So he adds more power to his magic. He creates more acid and gathers his acid tentacles into a big clump. He shape the clump of tentacles into a spear and thrust it at Ben.
Ben sees the acid spear come at him, and he waits. He waits while increasing the bright sun energy on his right hand until it covers his whole hand. When the spear almost reaches him, Ben does his move.
"Sun Dragon's Fist: 2nd Gear!" Ben says his spell.
Ben punches the smaller magic circle with his super hot fist. The magic circle generates a 50 cm orange glowing punch. It moves forward and hits the bigger magic circle. It then creates a 2 m punch that moves toward the giant acid spear.
2nd Gear punch isn't a new spell that he created. Well, he made it, but it's just a variant of his Sun Dragon's Fist. He got the idea when he thought of a way to strengthen his fist attack easily.
Then he thought that rather than improving the old spell that would take a longer time, he could add a new magic circle for power-up. It is a solution to raise the spell's power instantly. He will still work on improving his mastery to strengthen the spell, but this technique isn't so bad too.
*BOOM* The giant hit the giant acid spear and engulf it. With the heat of Ben's sun energy attack, the acid evaporates instantly upon contact.
The enemy mage widen his eyes seeing his magic evaporate. He wants to get away, but Ben's attack moves very fast to him. So he can't get away and gets hit by Ben's glowing punch.
*BOOM* The impact of Ben's attack that hit the mage & the ground create a booming sound. It scatters the dust everywhere and also cracks the ground.
All eyes move to the impact location. Bella & the woman also stop their battle which is not really a battle. The woman just made a magic shield to block Bella's shots. She is not a fighter and just a supporter.
Ben disperse his attack and soon the flying dust disperses. On the ground is a big crater with a fist shape. Then in the middle of that crater is Ben's opponent that has been defeated and knocked out.
Ben's win is not that strange, but the strange thing is that the ground doesn't burn. Ben's punch is so hot that the acid evaporates instantly and everyone around it also feels the heat.
What happened was that Ben manipulate his magic properties at the last moment. He made his magic didn't burn even though it's still hot. This is a new thing that he learned from Roubaul while crafting his revolver.
When Roubaul told this to him, Ben didn't believe the old man at all. After all, it's impossible for fire or high heat to not burn. But then Roubaul showed it to him, and he couldn't say anything. Even AI Chip couldn't understand it at all, so he need to learn it alone.
Ben kept learning it while heating the mithril. It's only 3 days ago that he succeed to understand it. Ben hasn't understood it fully, but he succeed to use it just now.
'Damn, I almost made a blunder. I forgot to calculate that my attack will hit this guy and only focused on the acid. If I fail, I might kill this guy, and it will be a problem for our guild even though he's a robber.' Ben sigh in relief at his success.
Ben then looks at the woman mage and she surrenders instantly. She is not a fighter like her comrades, so it's best for her to surrender peacefully. The other normal robbers also surrender when their mage comrades lost.
Ben then tie all the robbers and free the civilians. He tells them to leave and he will take care of the robbers after showing his guild insignia. They thank him and leave with their carriages.
After they leave, Ben grin mischievously. "Now, let's have some talk, shall we?"
The robbers shiver, even though Ben really just wants to talk to them. His grin is really scary for them. They all have the same thinking, 'This kid is scary.'
