Chapter 219: 219. Futile Struggle
After getting blasted to the ground, Ben attacks Acnologia again. He flies very fast like a laser toward Acnologia's stomach. Ben kicks with both of his legs as strong as he can but it only pushes Acnologia's stomach a little.
"Damn!" curses Ben as he teleports to avoid Acnologia's slap.
He teleports to Acnologia's back, between the wings. Then he casts a spell immediately before Acnologia can react. A massive red magic circle appears under Ben's feet, on top of Acnologia's back.
"Secret Dragon Slayer Art! 3rd Hell: Heat World!" chants Ben.
The massive magic circle turns into a massive red sphere of heat energy. It is very hot and causes the surrounding area's temperature to rise. The sphere itself has a temperature of 6000 degrees Celcius.
Ben uses it because now he can manipulate Heat better after he received Smog's power. As a Heat Dragon, Smog's power compliments Ben's Heat power too. So now his strongest element is Heat, that's why he uses it now.
He intends to burn Acnologia's body with this heat. This temperature is a little higher than Sun's surface temperature. Normal living beings will immediately die under such heat, but Acnologia isn't normal.
This Heat sphere is still a magic spell and strong magic resistance can defend it. Acnologia's magic resistance and physical durability are beyond ridiculous. This level of power isn't enough to damage his body.
Even though this spell is very strong and hot, it is not strong enough to be used against Acnologia. The heat affects him, but an effect caused by a magic spell can be defended with magic too. That's what Acnologia does, using his strong magic to defend against Ben's spell.
Acnologia covers his wings with magic power then he flaps them strongly. A strong magic tornado appears and destroys the heating sphere from inside. Ben is also forced to get away to avoid Acnologia's attack.
The Black Dragon has destroyed Ben's Heat World easily even though that is one of Ben's strongest spells. He doesn't have a winning chance from the beginning, but now even his survival & escape chances seem to disappear slowly.
Ben can't give up though because his sisters, girlfriend, and friends will die if he fails. He needs to repel Acnologia and makes the Black Dragon leave no matter what. The problem is that Ben doesn't know that his action actually makes Acnologia more interested in him.
While Ben thinks of a way to attack Acnologia again, some magic spells suddenly hit Acnologia's body. They don't affect him, of course, but they surprise Ben because the spells came from his guildmates below.
The Fairy Tail Mages can't just see Ben fight by himself. So they try to help him fight even if it's just a little. This is not only Ben's fight, after all, but it's also their fight too. They need to fight for themselves if they want to survive.
Mira suddenly appears beside Ben with her Satan Soul: Sitri form. She flies beside Ben and tells him that she'll also fight. Her power is far lower than Ben's current power, but that's not a reason to not fight.
"We need to fight for ourselves if we want to survive, right?" asks Mira.
Ben sighs and says, "Just don't die. Make sure to pull out if you think you can't go on."
Ben knows he can't stop them, so the best thing to do is to let them fight but make sure to not let them die. Mira nods and they get ready to fight again. The Mages below also get ready to fight and attack from their spot.
Some of them can fly like Ben & Mira, but none of them are confident they can be fast enough to avoid Acnologia's attack while flying. Mira can fly very fast, so she is confident that she can avoid Acnologia's attacks.
The Fairies then start their attack on Acnologia with Ben on the front. Mira attacks from a distance while flying around Acnologia as Ben attacks him closely. The others attack from the ground using all their long-ranged spells.
Their attacks create big impacts & effects on Acnologia's body. Fire, ice, wind, sword, wind, iron, bullets, and other kinds of magic spells. All of their attacks hit Acnologia because his body is big, so it's easy to target him.
The big effects make their attacks seem to work well. However, they all know that it's not the case at all. Acnologia is doing just fine even though they bombard him with all those strong spells that will destroy a mountain already.
Suddenly, a strong spinning blue sphere appears in Acnologia's location. It expands very fast and pushes all the magic attacks. Ben also gets pushed very fast and even Mira who flies quite far gets pushed because it expands very fast and becomes very big.
Both Ben & Mira crashes on the island in different locations. Ben receives more damage because he gets hit by the spinning magic sphere first while it still has full power. But he has high durability, so the damage that he received isn't fatal even though it's quite grave.
On the other hand, the damage that Mira received is fatal enough that her transformation wears off instantly. Even worse, she fell far from anyone so no one can treat her immediately. She needs to get treated immediately or her condition will worsen.
Ben who flies again realizes that Mira is not in a good condition because she doesn't appear again. So he immediately goes to Mira's crashing location to help her. He moves fast despite his grave injuries and then takes Mira to Wendy.
Wendy immediately uses her healing spell on Mira while the others keep attacking Acnologia. They need to attack Acnologia while Wendy heals Mira. Ben also attacks him again but with Mira's uncertain condition, he can't focus, so his attacks get weaker.
The same thing also happens to the other Mages so their attacks get weaker too. Their weak attacks make Acnologia start to lose interest. He can also feel that Ben's Dragon Force is getting weaker, meaning Ben is at his limit too.
Ben also realizes that his Dragon Force has almost reached its time limit. He has spent a lot of energy and also received a lot of damage even though Acnologia only hits him 2 times. So his Dragon Force's power is getting weaker slowly now.
Acnologia is bored now so he decides to finish this. He flies fast toward Ben, a lot faster than before. It takes Ben by surprise and makes him late in realizing a punch from Acnologia.
Ben does his best to defend the punch using all his power. He gets hit and crashes to the ground very strongly. The impact destroys the ground, creating a massive crater with Ben in the middle of it.
Ben has his hands' bones broken after he used his hands to defend the punch. Even after he poured all his remaining Magic Power onto his hands, he still can't block that punch. Luckily, he can reduce the punch's power a lot, so he can survive with just broken hands.
*Cough* Ben coughs some blood.
"Fuck, I can't move," says Ben while trying to stand up.
He is not in Dragon Force again and he has spent all his energy, so he can't move now. Ben looks at Acnologia while gritting his teeth and keep trying to stand up. But he can't even lift a finger and can only see as Acnologia gathers energy again.
He keeps cursing while trying to move so he can attack Acnologia again. But then Ben widens his eyes when he sees the unconscious Mira floats toward Acnologia. The Black Dragon is using his ability to suck magic power to suck Mira too.
Acnologia knows that Mira is precious to Ben, so he intends to kill her first before Ben. He uses his magic to suppress the other Mages so they can't stop Mira who gets pulled. None of them can resist Acnologia's magic, so they can only see as Mira flies to the sky.
Acnologia succeeds to anger Ben who suddenly has the power to stand up. He looks at Mira and his eyes widen again when he realizes that Bella is holding onto Mira's body. She has been holding onto Mira since earlier, so she also gets pulled.
Both girls are very close to Acnologia now and he has opened his right hand to attack. Acnologia then swipes his right hand toward Mira & Bella very strongly. But when he almost hits them, Ben suddenly appears and hugs the girls so he is the one who gets hit directly by Acnologia.
Acnologia's attack sends the 3 far into the sea at a very high speed. The Fairy Tail Mages below can only see in horror as the 3 get hit. They immediately lost their strength and their expressions become blank.
Wendy's eyes shake as she cries, "N-No, NOOO!"
