Chapter 420: 420. Guiltina
The Dragon Hunter group grows stronger by the day as they hunt more Dragons. They can form 20 teams to hunt Dragons at the same time at the end of their hunt on the Eastern Continent. Although Ben needs to make clones for the other 18 teams to create a space barrier as the ones who can make it are just him & Wendy.
Right now, they are going to the last continent that will be their main battlefield. They have slain a total of 153 Dragons on Ishgar, Alakitasia, and Eastern Continent. There are still thousands of Dragons remaining, but they aren't afraid because they know they won't have any future if they don't defeat the Dragons.
The Dragon Hunters move to Guiltina using a massive airship. It is an airship Ben made using his Arc of Embodiment that surely has gotten much stronger. They all are preparing themselves for the main war, including Ben.
Ben is preparing the Dragon Slayers who are still young. They have gone through a lot of things, but they are still kids in his eyes. Although they've killed many Dragons, those Dragons were weakened by injuries and they prepared the situations to their advantage.
However, the main war will be different because they will face multiple Dragons at once in unexpected situations. Ben has taught them a lot of things during the hunt to prepare them. But he still needs to prepare them before the main war because he knows they must be nervous.
He has unlocked their Second Origins before reaching Eastern Continent, so they're already used to it now. They are already stronger than most S-Class Mages after killing so many Dragons. But they aren't ready mentally for a war this big.
So Ben gives them trump cards in a form of a seal that will be activated when their lives are in grave danger. This calms them down a lot and he also teaches them some strategies to defeat Dragons alone. They have slain many Dragons together, but doing it alone is different.
It is not the only help he gives them. Using a secret technique he made using the knowledge in the books he found below Alvarez castle, Ben is expanding their magic power container. With bigger containers, they will have more magic power too.
Of course, it is dangerous because the magic power container has walls. By expanding it like this, Ben will make the walls thinner which can increase the chance of it being broken. But obviously Ben won't put them in danger because if the walls break, then they can lose their lives as Mages.
Ben has found the limit of expansion and he also made a safety measure. He will expand their containers to the safe limit while also strengthening the walls. So it will be safe for them while the walls are recovering slowly as magic power fills their expanded containers.
Their confidence raises with this and they aren't that nervous anymore. Now they just need to rest so that magic power will fill their expanded containers faster. Ben will make sure these kids survive and they won't lose too many people.
The group finally arrives on Guiltina and they can feel the Dragons' magic power. Ben can sense the thousands of Dragons that spread all over the continent. He also senses an individual with more magic power than any creature he ever sensed.
"I have expected this, but Acnologia has gotten much stronger than I thought. There are also some powerful Dragons on par with the Dragon Kings. Damn, what did they do in the invasion to get this powerful?"
Ben has covered the whole airship with some magic spells to prevent detections from the Dragons, including making it transparent. By using his Light Magic, Ben can make the whole airship transparent by distorting the light.
"Brandish, tell everyone to prepare. We'll go to attack immediately."
"Understood."
Ben can see Brandish is quite nervous while she walks away. Even someone at her level is nervous to fight in this war, not to mention the young ones. Brandish has gotten a lot stronger under Ben's guidance that he is sure she can defeat any other Spriggans even Irene & August right now, but she is still nervous.
After everyone prepared themselves, Ben controls the airship to move fast toward the main battlefield. The war between Dragons and humans is still going on here. The humans have been pushed back very far and now they are defending the last nation in Guiltina.
On the way there, Ben can feel that Acnologia isn't taking action. Only some Dragons are attacking the humans in the war. Even without seeing it, Ben knows that the Dragons aren't taking this war seriously. Acnologia must've treated this as a game for his entertainment.
"Well, let's see how long you can act like that. A stronger Acnologia, huh? I really anticipated it."
Ben grins excitedly because he can find a match again. It hasn't been long since he slew Acnologia in his timeline, and he knew that battles won't be fun anymore after that. No one is strong enough to threaten him like Acnologia, so he won't get another hard battle.
The war against thousands of Dragons will surely be hard and exciting. But now it will get even more exciting with a stronger Acnologia in the factor. He doesn't know what this timeline's Acnologia did to get that much stronger, so he will find it out while having a good battle against the Black Dragon.
Ben's group finally arrives near the battlefield, but they don't join immediately. Ben wants to see how the people here defend against the Dragons' attacks. There are only 5 Dragons that attack anyway, so he knows this attack isn't serious at all.
"Acnologia must've used his brain because he is leading the Dragons now. Probably he is just terrorizing the people here, he is just messing around with them."
Ben analyzes the war that looks fierce. But he knows it is the Mages that struggle against the mere 5 Dragons. Those Dragons sure are strong. There are no weak Dragons left now because all the weaklings have died on the other 3 continents.
"When will we attack, Ben nii-san?"
"Be patient, Wendy. There is something strange here."
Right after Ben said that, 17 people suddenly jumps out of the fortress wall. They rush toward the Dragons and start attacking. Ben & co are getting surprised by these guys' attacks that can actually injure the Dragons.
"Well, what a surprise this is. Although weak, they have Dragon Slayers on their side."
"Those Dragon Slayers look strange though."
Ben agrees with Wendy's statement. The feeling he got from those Dragon Slayers is different from the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd generation. There is also a 4th generation that he doesn't really like because they are not real living beings, but artificial beings made of magic.
"What should we do, Ben?"
"Let's observe for now. We need to know what they're capable of to make plans."
They continue observing and the Dragon Slayers of this continent are quite capable. However, the Dragons are not ordinary either. These Dragons have survived the war on 3 continents and surely Acnologia won't send them here to just lose.
"Damn, this is the worst. Those Dragons are strengthened."
Ben's words surprise everyone there, but his expression contrasts with his words. He is very excited right now instead of being worried. But they are still curious about what he said, so Carla decides to ask.
"What do you mean by they are strengthened?"
"It exactly means that. Someone is enhancing their power to whole new levels. It must be Magic Enchantment and I can only think of someone."
"IRENE?!"
Ben nods at Brandish's suspicion. Acnologia who has decided to rule over the Dragons instead of eradicating them must've taken Irene to his side as well. Although there might be something else happening because the Dragons on Eastern Continent never get strengthened.
If Irene joined the Dragons, it should be since Alakitasia fell. But the Enchantment Magic only gets used on Guiltina. There's no way Acnologia would pass the chance of making his side stronger because that means he could conquer the world faster.
"Hmm, there's no need on speculating too much. I just need to make Acnologia spits everything."
"Ben, the Dragon Slayers."
Lucy's call makes Ben looks at the battlefield again. The Dragon Slayers are getting pushed back now that the Dragons stary showing their real power. From the beginning, the Dragon Slayers didn't have a chance to win because they themselves have been injured.
"They haven't fought for long and haven't gotten hit that much. But they are in bad condition already. That means they have been injured badly before this and haven't recovered. The Dragons must have attacked them often."
"Eh? The Dragons aren't attacking them?"
Brandish and everyone else are confused about why the Dragons just look at the cornered Dragon Slayers. Ben has a hunch of what happens though.
"It seems those Dragons don't intend to kill the Dragon Slayers. Acnologia must've ordered it. He is really playing with his prey. Well, it's time to reveal ourselves to Acnologia, so let's get started."
Ben snaps his fingers and 5 young Dragon Slayers including his children suddenly disappear. Then suddenly 5 massive Dragon Roar attacks fall upon the 5 Dragons. Shadow, White, Lightning, Fire, and Ice beams hit the 5 Dragons from above.
The Dragons fall flat on the ground because of the strong magic attack that hit them. All Guiltina people including their Dragon Slayers are very surprised by the sudden attacks. They are also shocked by the powerful magic attacks that have just hit the Dragons. It makes them wonder who has such powerful magic attacks.
