Chapter 54: Castle's Garden II

Taking her to her room, locking the door and windows, Staring at the one who used to be the head maid, Lucas could only feel sorrow for this woman. He had been working with Diana for many long years and had been at odds with each other. Reminiscing at the olden days, he and Diana would compete to see who would do their job the best. They even had an affair, but that did not last for long, but still, the memories would only last as long as you live.

Lucas closed his eyes, facing the locked door; he could only pray that her punishment would be painless. To Lucas, Diana is a good woman easily influenced by such things as gold and shimmer, yet would neglect all bright things harbors blood.

*sigh*

"I'm-"

"Sorry, Diana," Lucas said with croaked voice, a tear streaming down his face. With shaken hands, Lucas took a deep breath and wiped the tears, steeling his heart; he then walked away from the door of the head maid. And behind the closed door, Diana. Who now finally understood the consequences of her mistakes did know what to do. Replaying the moment the young lord has passed her by, and as she heard him murmur the exact words that made her weak to her knees.

~Your execution will be held in three days. Diana~

Those words were like a stone dropped instilled water; it did not make a splash but did make the sound of a rude awaking at the harsh young lord. The young lord whom she had always looked down upon had finally taken action. No, the young lord has finally had enough of them. Even the way that he had said it, his voice echoed cold and detached. This finally awakened her. Diana's head is filled with regret. Why has she done these things? Why had she never stopped and just done her job as she was ordered to?, All those questions could not be answered anymore.

Diana wiped away her tears and smiled at her opened palms,

"You finally had your wish come true, Diana," She spoke, allowed to herself.

"If only-" her smile that would brighten even a man such as Alden has begun to crumble at the thought of her actions. After trying to hold it in, but finally, a weak cry of the prideful Diana could be heard behind the closed door.

Unbeknown to Lucas and Diana, A shadow inside the room that is locked is observing their actions. Thinking she had something to hide, Alden sent shadow Mox to spy on her, but hearing their dialogue, he lost interest and told shadow Mox to leave. Alden could not care less about her. Neither she lives nor dies; it would not benefit him. He has plans that need his utmost attention. The only reason he had not killed Diana sooner is that he could not wrap his head around whether she and Gwen were together. After digging through Gwen's belonging and As well as finding nothing that could connect them as a calibrator, he finally gave up and decided to kill her anyway.

What use is there for someone short-sighted, That applies to Lucas as well, but the man has values. Suppose Alden had another servant who does the same job as Lucas. He would not hesitate to get rid of him. Less than a heartbeat is all it could take.

Anyway, inside the library, Alden has a historical book in his hands. Instead of reading it, he just held it and started to caress it, feeling the leather texture of the olden day books made of the skin of an unknown creature. in his mind, he thought differently

[it's been three days already]

[How far is Lox fallowing her]

For the last three days, Alden has been receiving reports of Gwen's location. It seems the woman is traveling somewhere far away. She would occasionally stop at small towns and purchase henchmen and new horses after the ones she used had fallen due to excessive running. Bandits and beasts have attacked her, yet she displays skill that far surpasses Alden's expectations. This made Alden regret not looking into her status. He wanted to know who Gwen was and what she was competent. This type of mistake struck an ire of regret in someone like Alden.

And after three days, Alden has discovered that the world he now lives in is strange. Time seems to move slowly. For what seems, a day in this world is two days back on earth. His appearance that resembles a fifteen-year-old on earth is considered ten in here. Yet his body would always depict him as a young man, past the age of ten and fifteen.

*sigh*

[Patients is vartue] he thought

After receiving interesting news from shadow Lox, Alden decided to wait it out and continue his plans.

'now, let see,' he spoke, opening the leathered book slowly, quickly scanning the book with his eyes and before trying to make out these strange words.

*DING*

{Does the host wish to comprehend 'Edan 655th'?} The system has reminded Alden of his passive skill

'Yes,' he answered. Suddenly, his mind became clear, looking at the complex words, Alden can understand and comprehend its content, page after page, he read the book with ease. Finding himself with wide eyes, Alden throws the book and picks up another, delving himself at the Library's content.
