Chapter 34: Sure seems rigged***

All Might smiled when we all finally gathered. "Welcome students! To your first Hero practice. Now…"

All Might pulled out some flash cards. "Ahem, this practice is to test you on multiple things. However the main point is how to fight villains. You see, most fights with villains on the news are always outside. Well why is that? Can someone tell me?"

Momo raised her hand. "Because operations that happen indoors are usually not documented as to not tip off the villains. As such operations are planned, and are raids or invasions on villain lairs."

All Might smiled, "Correct! On that note, most villain encounters are back room deals, Home invasions, and secret lairs. Intelligent criminals stay hidden within the shadows. For this training exercise you will be split into teams of good guys and bad guys and fight 2 on 2 indoor battles."

I lit up, would we be fighting each other? Now that sounded fun.

Tsu commented first. "Isn't this a little advanced?"

Momo asked, "How will the winner be declared? Are there special rules?"

Erin and Katsuki were on the same page. "How much can we rough up the other teams? How much can we blow them up!"

Ochaco asked, "There isn't going to be a chance we get expelled, right?"

Finally Tenya asked the last question, "How will the teams be decided? Is it random or do we choose our partners?"

All Might nodded his head, "All good questions! All answer all in a row! No it isn't advanced, your predecessors did this same thing. The end of year will have a practice just like this one to see how much you improved! I will get to the rules in a second! No deadly injuries or you will be punished. You won't be expelled, but I'm sure you don't want to be suspended! Finally I will now get to the rules!"

Tenya was about to raise his hand about his question but All Might began. Almight took out a piece of paper… again. "The situation is this. The villains have hidden a nuclear missile somewhere in their hideout! The heroes must try to foil their evil plans. To do that the heroes must either catch the villains or recover the weapon. Likewise the villains succeed if they protect their payload or capture the heroes. Finally we will choose teams by drawing lots! Do you all understand?"

Most of us nodded, Tenya asked though, "Isn't there a better way?"

Izuku commented for All might. "Think about it, pros often have to team up with heroes from other agencies on the spot, so maybe that is the reason here."

All Might shouted, "DON'T SWEAT IT, LET'S DRAW!"

All Might began drawing and seemingly I was stuck on a team with Toru, Looking at some of the others... Erin was paired with Momo, making a team sole with utility. Then the little miscreant Minoru was paired with Mezo. I felt bad for the guy. I also took note of Deku and Ochaco being paired together. Making an interesting problem. Deku apparently wasn't stable with his quirk and Ochaco wasn't particularly offensive. It made me wonder how they would deal with the double handed handicap.

"THE FIRST TWO GO AGAINST EACH OTHER ARE THESE GUYS!" Almight held up a A and D. Which meant Izuku vs Katsuki, a rival fight essentially. They didn't seem to like each other and it made me wonder about if this was actually rigged?

All Might continued "Team D will be the villains, so without saying Team A is the heroes! Everyone else will head to the monitoring room to Watch!"

We all called out, "Yes Sir."

Making into the monitoring room it was filled with TVs and computers. I could see Katsuki's face through the monitor. I wondered if he needed therapy. His smile was one of anger and hatred. Not one you would use to greet a rival at all.

Almight joined us shortly, and the hero team entered the building. Overall the first few seconds made sense. They wandered through the hallways. However Katsuki was also running through the halls. Eventually hiding around the corner near the entrance.

I watched Katsuki launch a surprise attack aimed at Izuku's face. It was a good move to quickly disable them. However it broke down quickly when Deku matched his movements. It seemed Deku knew his fighting patterns.

Tenya was on the floor with the bomb cleaning the area. Presumably preparing for the possibility of Ochaco's quirk. Which like I assumed Handicapped Team A. Deku would need to create debris now for her, which meant injuring himself.

Tenya then started freaking out. I assume he had an earpiece, but this was explained seconds later. As Eijiro asked. "Hey, who's Bakugo talking to? We aren't hearing anything. Can we get any sound with this video?"

All Might answered him. "He's got a radio in his ear so he can talk to his partner. I gave it to them before the match started along with a map and this capture tape. Wrapping this around your opponent means you've apprehended them, and they are out for the rest of the game."

Mina asked, "So there's a 15 minute time limit, until the good guys fail? On top of having no idea which floor the nuclear weapon is on?"

All might nodded, "Correct."

Mina commented back. "The heroes are clearly at a disadvantage here. A big one!"

I decided to answer Mina. "That's because on the job you have no idea what you're dealing with. Hell some pros might not even know that there is a bomb. So you have to both work within a time limit while taking your time to not rush and get ahead of yourself. Not to mention this doesn't actually mean much, The heroes still know the quirks of the villain team. Which normally wouldn't happen unless they are wanted criminals or something. Even then a villain might have a ace or two to use in a pinch."

All Might was surprised by my response it seems. "Uhh, yes that is correct. Couldn't have said it better myself. There are a few extra things heroes need to be-wary of and some things that are only privy to certain pro heroes. However, Shizen answered your question perfectly."

Ocahco dodged around Katsuki. The guy tried to stop her, but Izuku began trying to wrap him in the capture tape. Izuku could actually be a threat if he had some martial arts. He moved fast and clearly made quick decisions.

The catch was still his shoddy quirk control. Izuku dodged around a corner to disappear. Katsuki seemingly got distracted and focused solely on Izuku. Meaning he likely forgot about Ochaco and is going rogue. Team A will likely win if Tenya doesn't step up.

I watched the monitors focused on Ochaco as she made her way up the stairs of each floor. I felt a little side tracked myself due to watching her run up the stairs. Maybe I was a pervert as well, since I couldn't help staring at her butt in her tight costume.

I grumbled. Toru patted my shoulder, "What's up partner?"

I gave a shrug, thinking of a strategy. "Just coming up with strategies."

She looked at me. "Already?"

I responded with a question. I did have an actual strategy. "Uh-Huh. Can you refract light?"

Toru shrugged, "Kind of? It isn't very powerful."

I asked, as I watched Ochaco give away her hiding spot. "If I were to shoot a beam of light through you, can you refract it into a flash?"

Toru paused, "Eh? Can you actually do that? I mean, yes! Yes I can."

Katsuki blasted half the building away. It nearly took out Izuku, and wouldn't have killed the guy. However if Katsuki could have that kind of fire power, maybe I was underestimating what his quirk could do.

The two of them moved between each other. Izuku completely understood how Katsuki fought and Katsuki was adaptable. Changing on the fly to match Izuku analyzing his movements. However ultimately the two charged at each other.

From what I could tell Izuku was gonna sacrifice his entire arm. It was impressive to see him aim that punch upward and destroy the building. Even allowing Ochaco to take the win. However it wasn't much of a win even with the big build up. Izuku both took the blow as well as sacrificed his arm. Not to mention the bomb in which he endangered with his strike. A similar attack to the one Katsuki used. Putting a bigger danger for the sake of a win.

In the end it was disappointing to see. Izuku was smart. I had to admit that. Even just watching this fight one could tell he had great analytical skills. The problem however was that he didn't use them to the fullest.

However ultimately he was too self-sacrificing. Katsuki was the opposite, adaptable and had a clear understanding of how to use his abilities. The problem with him was he lacked the proper attention. He got distracted by Izuku and he lost because of it.

----Side note during this big fight in the anime Deku's eyes totally look like Kermit the frogs's and I can't unsee it.----
