Chapter 3: Ma..ma
The past two weeks were exhausting for the Withlock family. They held a feast to celebrate the birth, of Lord Drake and Lady Elora's first child Nile. Whole Withlock family was busy including the young master Nile himself. His schedule was simple eat, poop , absorb energy , sleep and on occasion make baby noise and sometimes finger grabbing routine. Elora was busy these past weeks so mostly it was Mia who took care of Nile.
The family held the feast at the end of second week in which all the Withlock citizens were invited. Everyone was joyous to hear the reason behind the feast. All the citizens happily took part in it and were mesmerized by little Nile. The gifts given by the citizen were not very fancy but they were the best they could afford. Drake and Elora were aware of the fact and were more than happy.
'I think, I can get used to this feeling and this sight' Nile thought, who was the center of this event, looking around at everyone and everything with piqued interest. He still was not fully used to seeing people so merry and enjoying life so much, he himself was enjoying seeing people drink, dance and laugh. Drake few meters away from ,Elora who was holding Nile in her arms, was competing one of his friends in a drinking game. Elora while holding Nile was having conversation with her friends. The whole Topic of the conversation revolved around babies.
'Elora, I am telling you raising a kid is the most difficult thing ' Shein said.
" I agree, my kid when he was 2 ate a dead rat and fell ill. Ohhhh god, what a troublesome day it was" .Piera said with a smile on her face staring at the sky trying to recall the incident.
'hahahah, this kid , I will surely meet him once I grow up. I wonder who could eat a rat when they are 2years.'
Nile who was listening to Piera with undivided attention let out a small laugh.
The feast came to an end and everyone went home exhausted but with a smiling face.
Nile was happy after a very long time, he felt at ease around the Withlock family and especially around Elora.
Some months passed by and now Nile was 4 months old. Life was monotonous for the first 3 months where he would absorb energy whenever possible, but on the 4th month he started crawling. His parents and all the maids were amazed by his fast growth. When he first crawled, his mother was so dumbstruck that she called the doctor the very next moment, as crawling at just 4 months was unheard of. His father laughed out loud seeing Nile crawl and called him a genius. Unlike other kids he never played with toys rather he crawled straight towards his father's library pick up a random book from the lowest shelf he could reach and just stare at the books. This sight was new for everyone so initially they thought that Nile may like paper or maybe he was fond of the fragrance of books. Drake bought many picture books for Nile, but he showed no interest in them. Despite Nile trying so hard he still could not read the texts written in the book. Soon the sight of Nile being on the library floor and staring at the book became common to the maids and workers in the mansion.
A month passed by with the same schedule of Nile waking up in the morning and crawling straight to library and in free time he would eat food, sleep or absorb energy whenever possible. The reason for Nile being so dedicated to reading and learning was he was curious about everything, he wanted to know the Cultivation level of this world, the geography, the traditions followed the races living in this world. He basically wanted to know about this world so he could plan about the path he would follow to gain strength. Even though he was reincarnated as a Human being and somewhat trying to orient himself to this new and carefree environment, but still he could not neglect his Asura side and the knowledge he held about the universe. He was not as ignorant as others of this world, he knew there were entities out there who could easily destroy his life without even lifting a finger and that thought left a bitter taste in his mouth. When he was an Asura Lord he destroyed everything and anything that stood on his way. He was the master of his own life and never hesitated in offending other Asura Lords, that was the reason they all plotted and tried killing him. He held no regrets of his previous life, he lived like a king and died like one. But now he wanted to surpass himself and kill those who made an attempt at his life .That was the reason he wanted to grow strong as soon as possible and surpass himself and take down the other lords.
(5th month old)
Crawling towards his mother Nile stretched his right hand and pointed it towards his mother and called out for her and said "Ma…ma".
Hearing him speak for the first time Elora got up from her chair and quickly but gently lifted up Nile in her embrace with an ear to ear smile and kissed him on his cheek.
"Youuuu both heard him , he said Mama, Mia, Kaya you heard right ?" Elora asked the two maids, with happiness and astonishment filled in her voice.
"Yes lady, we heard him" Both the maids replied, Kaya the old maid said with disbelief in her expression.
"Ma..ma" this time Nile said it more clearly
"Haaaah, he said again, what a sweet voice my baby has.I will make sure to tell Drake that Nile's first word was mama and not father " Elora said with a smug on her face, while hugging Nile gently. If it would have been possible she would have had let the whole world know that it was her, Nile called for not his father or any other person but her. She was a proud mother of a 5 month old boy who just learnt his first word.
'By looking at her reaction I feel , I spoke too soon. But I want them to teach me to read. It feels pathetic being surrounded by so many books not able to read them. I had to let them know sooner or later so I think it's just fine. I want to learn and read everything about this world as soon as possible'. Even though he could have spoken last month but he did not wanted her mother to panic so he thought it was best to wait. In these past months Nile has unknowingly accepted Elora and Drake as his parents , especially his mother. Unlike the first few days where he was suspicious of everything and everyone compared to then he was doing much better. He now even shared a mother-son bond with Elora which he was unaware of as emotions were something new to him.
