Chapter 3: 3. Mission fails
A message telling her about a new mission has been received by Shadow. She just needs to kill a person that is running to become the president. The girl smiled. She blinked for a moment, revealing a screen that only she could see. The data about the man appeared, making her eyes open wide.
"That guy?" She muttered under her breath while giving orders to her system.
Before coming, she checked the location first, looking for a good place to shoot without being seen by many people.
Shadow will kill him just as the person is about to campaign. She wore a hat, black clothes, and a violin case. The violin case is filled with a long-barreled firearm
Somewhere else, the door of an elevator opened, revealing a tall man with a thin face, a straight jaw, a sharp nose, gray hair, and thin lips. He wore a gray suit.
In front of him, a girl was waiting for him.
"Team leader, the director is waiting for you in the meeting room," the girl said.
"Ok, thanks," he said as he headed into a room.
The room walls are made of glass, with a long table in the middle. A man who is wearing a uniform with a badge on his shirt is standing with his back to him.
"Director,"
"I want you and your team to guard the campaign of one of the presidential candidates," the man said, turning around as he didn't get an answer.
"Lucas, did you hear what I said?"
"es, director. Guard a presidential candidate today, "
"Good, today he is going to be campaigning. You have to guard him properly."
"Ok, I'll prepare my team right now."
"Keep him safe," the man said, then left the room.
"Everyone comes here," Lucas shouted, clapping his hands so that everyone in the room could hear what he was saying.
"Today, I need the usual team. We will be guarding a presidential candidate.
"Finally! We are finally doing a mission after such a long time," one person said.
Some people had already prepared their equipment. Some are checking their weapons, some are preparing their laptops and some have just changed clothes.
They are now wearing different types of attires. A few are wearing ordinary clothes, others are wearing suits whereas Lucas is wearing the black and white clothes he usually wears when he works.
"The presidential candidate has arrived," Lucas told his team through his earphone. "How is it going at your place? Did you guys find anything suspicious?" Lucas asked while looking around while escorting a presidential candidate named Herlambang Adipati.
"Nothing suspicious," someone replied.
Lucas, who was standing near the presidential candidate, glanced to his left and right. After one of his team replaced him, the man chose to leave from there, towards a rooftop.
"I will come back," he shouted.
Shadow went up the stairs of the building she had set as a place to shoot. It's the best place to do that according to her research.
When the mission given to her was too hard, she only smiled as if she could do anything to complete it.
The person is guarded heavily. There are soldiers, police officers, and several bodyguards protecting the man.
Through her binoculars, she can see that her target has arrived, accompanied by a few bodyguards.
She didn't know that from a building 500 meters away, someone had been supervising the campaign event.
The man has been observing the situation using a telescope for a long time, making him bored. He checked with the telescope once again to make sure that everything was fine.
When Lucas checked, his eyes were drawn to something from across the building. He saw someone dressed in black, carrying something in a case and then assembling it.
The eyes of the man widened when the person across finished assembling the weapon and pointed the weapon downwards. The man then looked at the gun beside him.
The onlookers clapped and cheered when the presidential candidate went up to the stage to make his speech.
"Shit," Lucas cursed. The man turned on his radio again. "I saw a sniper," Lucas said, making his team stare at him from the ground.
"What are you waiting for, secure the presidential candidate! '' he shouted when he saw that no one was moving. The man did not care about anything else and took his sniper. Then he aimed.
Shadow's weapon is aimed properly downwards, at the middle-aged man who was busy delivering his promises.
Bang!
Gunshots were heard.
Unfortunately, the bullet that Lucas shot got her arm. Luckily, the bullet only grazed her arm. Since she didn't manage to shoot her target, she wanted to shoot again, but another bullet quickly sped up at her and she had to dodge it immediately, making her unable to aim, and the bullet hit the gun.
"Shit, why didn't my system tell me that there is another sniper near here," she cursed, complaining because the system didn't alert her.
The girl was forced to leave her weapon as she rushed off from the roof. Lucas who saw this immediately ran after her
She has to get out of there. She can now see the man who shot her from her binoculars running towards her. Moreover, several other people are also chasing her.
Lucas chased after Shadow, trying to jump over the roof of a building that was about half a meter or even a meter away. The distance between Lucas and Shadow got closer and closer.
"Don't move," Lucas commanded, making Shadow turn around.
He has a gun.
"Put down your gun," Lucas ordered.
Shadow wore black attire, a hat, and sunglasses. Plus a mask to cover her face. She has a weapon on her left thigh and a knife on the right. No fear can be seen in the eyes behind the glasses even though a weapon is pointed at her
Right now, a gun is aimed towards her head.
When Shadow started to put down her gun, who would have thought that she would shoot two agents that were surrounding her and jump down?
Lucas didn't stay still when he saw this. He directly tried to catch Shadow, it's just a shame that she was too quick. Shadow had blended into the crowd.
Shadow can still hear the people shooting at her. She turned back for a moment and shot the agent chasing after her. Shadow's hat fell and her hair was hot loose. But it isn't Shadow if she can't escape.
In the crowd, she took her clothes off one by one.
She took her jacket off and threw it away, revealing a crop top. She went to a stall that sells clothes and stole a dress to hide her weapon and knife which is inside her pants pocket. She also stole a handbag to complete her disguise.
"Dang it!" Shadow cursed. It's the very first time that she failed in a mission. "I also almost got caught" Shadow grumbled as she mingled
"I failed," she sent a message to someone.
She feels ashamed. She has never failed. Not even once.
"Just wait, I will kill him in three days. In front of many people," Shadow's message read.
