Chapter 41: Submit or die

Feeling something fall on his face, Julian lifted his head to see a gray sky.

"It's raining?"

As he became drenched, Julian was grateful again for his possesion of destruction magic. As he could dry himself whenever he wanted with it, and do a lot of other practical things.

It was only as someone called him out that his attention was brought back to the current situation.

"And here I thought I would have been able to get a good fight. And what did I got? A weak little devil. What a disappointement." The only male fallen angel present, Dohnaseek said.

"Hey it's not that bad, at least he's a cutie. The mission had me pretty stressed out lately, could use him for some stress relief. What do you say, Kalawarner?" The shorter female of the three fallen angels, Mittelt. While sporting a smirk on her face and looking Julian up and down, asked the other woman of the group.

The one in question had a thoughtful expression on her face as she answered. "It would be... a rather good idea."

Julian had a little frown appear on his face, talking about raping him right in his face? Not cool.

But in the end, he didn't really care, and he didn't come here to chat. And he would certainly not let the bat shit crazy priest who was about to open his mouth to talk.

He currently had both of his wings out as demonics. So it was normal, as well as intentional, to be considered one by the fallen angels.

So before Freed Sellzen could insult him. He smiled, pretty much like all the other time he had to deal with opponents. Only this time it was in amusement, and it was also one of the genuine one. "You know, there's a proverb in my home country. It go like this... Those who talk shits at the start of the day, will find that very day ending by biting in it."

A silence fell upon the scene as someone kindly set up a barrier for Julian around the area. A respite he used to rapidly survey every people present.

There was the three subordinates from Raynare, the priest Freed and a rather numerous bunch of exorcists. No Asia as expected, as she would only get here by tomorrow.

Julian shook his head as it seemed they weren't even concerned by Raynare going missing since yesterday evening. Maybe out of confidence in her capabilities, arrogance, or a simple lack of discipline and organisation.

"You're all pathetic, your leader didn't come back to report from... You know what? Submit or die." Julian gave up on his theatrics as he didn't want to waste his time on a bunch of mobs.

"HAAAAAAHAAAHA!"

He was imperturbed as a collective laugh exploded from the opposite party.

As they calmed down, Dohnaseek wiped a stray tear from his eye and chuckled. "Submit or die? To who? You?"

"You're just a low-class devil trash seeking death I see. In this case, please allow this little old me to grant you your wish... It'll be my pleasure." It was at that time that Freed decided to declare his presence as he dashed toward Julian, light blade and gun in hand.

Nobody stopped him, even if some disappointement could be seen on Mittelt's face.

He was going extremely fast for an human, at least three times the speed of one. Around 35m/s. No Excalibur Rapidly could be seen.

Julian raised a brow at it all, this was truly a show.

And it was time to end it.

So, taking a small stone from the ground. He watched as Freed was about to reach him, making him lick his gun in excitement.

"Oh yeah, forgot to say. But the first option is only available for fallen angels."

Shooting the peeble at supersonic speed with his thumb, Julian made Freed head explode like a watermelon as he began dashing around. Cracking skulls and making necks snap as he didn't want to dirty himself too much.

Nobody could react to his speed as he was basically invincible among human and even weaker supernaturals.

He had learned from Grayfia that battle strength was determined majorly by two things. The basic rank of your beings, like low-class devil, middle-class and such. Determining the strength of your body and your reserve of magic.

And the skills you had, your magic, special powers that made you stronger than others at your level. Perfectly logical all in all.

So with him, having his rank as a weak ultimate-class. Could easily role over with sheer speed on these canon fodders.

Barely a second had passed before Julian came back to his original position. Staring at the now alone three fallen angels flying above him in the sky. "Now do you guys still want to do it the hard way, or are you ready to tear off your wings and go under my orders in order to live?"

Receiving only a barrage of spears of light in answer, he rolled his eyes as he destroyed them with a wide wave of destruction power. Afterward appearing just above them in the air, and before they had the time to react. He stomped Dohnaseek to the ground, high heeled kick Kalawarner and punched down Mittelt with his two hands brought together. Creating almost three simultaneous craters.

He flew down as he gazed at the broken form of their body, much similar to the state Raynare was in yesterday. But better, as he actually held back so that they weren't just on the brink of death.

He healed them back to health with threads of his trinity energy as he found himself exhausted but still having a bit of magic left. It seemed his reserve had grown in a substantial manner since yesterday, fighting with his all against Mikan and his short session of meditation earlier doing wonder for them.

Taking on a colder demeanor, he asked. "If you want to live... You will do as I say, and tear off those wings you hold so much pride in."

While the two girls only sat up fearfully, Dohnaseek stood up as he sprinted madly at Julian. "No matter how strong you are, if you think you'll be able to make me do such a disgraceful thing and humiliate me in such a manner!! You can go fuck your devil ass to heaven!"

As the fallen angel prepared himself for a punch, Julian took his punch in his palm, grabbed his face with his other hand and slammed him repeatedly in the ground.

*BOOOOOM* x5

Lifting Dohnaseek above him, Julian shifted his grip to his throat as he looked at the thoroughly beaten up man before him. "Last chance, do you submit?"

Julian was really uncaring at this point, as it was said in a casual tone.

But the man interrogated only chuckled weakly in answer, as he rasped out. "You think I'll ever submit to a devil scum? You're dreaming. The only man I will ever bow to are the Cadres and Azazel-Sama." He finished as he spat at Julian.

Julian only inversed their positions, so Dohnaseek received his own phlegm to the face.

"Well, at least I gave you a chance." Julian shrugged as he snapped his neck, afterward destroying the body with his DP (Destruction power).

Moving his gaze to the two remaining fallens, who seemed overly submissive for some reason. He ordered. "Well, go ahead. Don't waste anymore time. This guy seriously annoyed me and my patience is running short."

He added after a short time. "It'll only hurt for a bit, and I promise you I treat my subordinate well."

He meant to be comforting to the two girls, but it seemed to not be very effective when he was surrounded by the corpses of their former servants.

As they began the gruesome process, Julian turned his attention to the plethora of dead body arround as he shortly reflected on his act.

There was a non null chance there was a innocent soul among them all. But he wasn't feeling guilty about it. He wasn't the making the one judging in death. If they were truly innocents, then where they ended would reflect on that.

He himself, would reap what he sowed in the end too. For possibly killing neutral or good natured people.

And while it was a screwed logic, it was true. And it was the conclusion he came to. He didn't care if it was right or wrong.

Because when he searched deep within himself, he found out that he was supposed to be well pass caring about right or wrong.

And right now, after he shed his mask, he was.

He could only send a silent prayer to Kass for these people, he wished for her to give them all a good life in their next. Or a good afterlife in their religion paradise, whatever.

After he cleaned up all the corpses with his DP, he came back to see two now human girls knocked out in a pool of their own blood. Two giant holes in their back.

He had to regenerate a bit of his magic, hastening the process with meditation before he could finally heal them. Stabilizing their critical state.

He searched around the church to see if he could find anything of interest. But besides some files on him, possible sacred gears owner, and the major players around the town like the noble devil clans. He only found a correspondance scripted message that he decrypted pretty easily as it seemingly wasn't of high security or badly made.

It was apparently for the transfer of an excalibur fragment in the future. Something that will probably never happen now that Freed was dead.

The other thing he found was of course the device to steal sacred gears in the basement. Destined to be used for Asia by Raynare.

Julian found himself in an impasse as he gaze at it with a frown on his face. He could use that to steal a sacred gear for himself right?

But barely the thought had crossed his mind that he felt his heart lurch and retched.

The thought of using a power not inherently accessible to him made him deeply disgusted.

It made a part of him scream in protest and anguish. It neither was his devil nor his angel side that did that.

No.

It was his Nephalem side, admonishing him to not even think about it. Telling him that he had no need for any other power than his own to trample them all.

But he fought back, power was right there. What was the point to not take the short cut? It was right there. What would he lose?

It seemed his bloodline wasn't taking it, as he began to shake as he felt sick and dizzy all over.

So he just gave up in the end.

'Geez, this pride is worst than a dragon.' Julian thought as he recovered.

It may seem like he had a conflict with another entity, but it was not the case. Two different part of himself fought against each other. His predominent Nephalem side and his rational side.

So in the end, he only studied the device for a bit. Memorizing the various runes running across it and analyzing it's magical signature, internal and external. Even if he didn't knew what the majority of those signatures were exactly, he would still remember them.

Blowing up the device with a punch, Julian came out of church and picked up both of his new subordinates and decided to call it a day as he ran toward his home at full speed. Carefully as he didn't want to injure the now fragile girls he was carrying on his shoulders.

As it was still rather early in the day, he came back to home where only Raynare was present. As his parents were still workings.

Dropping both of his charges in the arms of a dumbfounded Raynare who was doing the laundry. He picked up his parents portable as he dropped into his bed.

He was tired mentally, but he persisted as he found that the website of most companies had was horribly designed. Pretty normal as he came from the future. But he still found it awful

Then, instead of hacking his way into some bank website and steal money, he decided to make clean money as it was less trouble.

So, downloading some coding app and spending some time to learn the coding language. Julian took the better part of thirty minutes typing away at a supernatural speed, and created a simple but revolutionary app to design websites.

After that, he made for himself a false online identity and covered his tracks and created a business email. Sending a mail to about a hundred companies, with an exemple of a website created with his app.

All in all, it took him two hours to do all of that.

Cracking his fingers, he put away the portable and crashed on his bed and sighed.

These past two days really seemed like an eternity to him. Up and down without any stops. And he wasn't even talking about his existencial crisis of today.

At least now, all of that was behind him. And he wasn't denying the truth anymore.

He just had to continue walking forward.

It was with this thought that he drifted off to sleep. Dreaming about his past life without any problems.
