Chapter 25: Crabbe Sr. and Goyle Sr.

Six months passed. Out of their whole batch, Kenneth was almost a non-existent member. He barely spent time with others, and was almost always buried in the books the camp provided. The only one that he communicated with was Isaac, even then, it was mostly just to catch up and get an update of how the rest of the group was doing.

Out of the 20 people is the group, 8, including Kenneth, was experience in occlumency, and all of them had already passed the best-laid plans, history of dark arts and the auror advantage courses. This actually lead everyone else to pick up the mind art.

As for Kenneth, his biggest problem was to act weak and lose. His goal was to learn all the theoretical magic available within a year. Therefore, he had to drag passing the other classes. Dueling in the dark and the Battle instinct class became a joke once he had cast his short-range recon spell. It only took a couple of classes for him to get use to the random spells thrown at him at different intervals inside the dome in Battle instinct class and reading magic and wand movements from his batch mates in the Dueling in the Dark class. He really needed to thank Voldemort for giving him a leg up, otherwise, he would have no idea how long it would take him to actually develop real battle instinct and get use to fighting in the dark. Resilience training was even easier, at first he took all the spells that was thrown at him with his body, later he realized he had a shortcut and a powerful defense against spells. Kenneth was able to partially transform into other species, so all he did was to transform the area that was about to be hit with a spell with a dragon hide. It took at least 30 wizards and witches to take down and stun a dragon, although Kenneth was in his human form, the defense provided by the transformed hide was enough for him not be affected by the effects of the spells. He still felt a sting whenever he was hit by a spell, but to him it was nothing.

Moody's class was cringe worthy for many of the new recruits. He started by warning the class by telling them that even though the auror was allowed to use the unforgivable curses, if used inappropriately or wantonly, they are still punishable by law. Then they went on to practicing the unforgivable curses on livestock, Kenneth being able to cast the spells in a single go made moody suspicious of him and there was a small debate between them.

"You seem to have a lot of hatred in you Mr. Webb," said Moody.

"No, I disagree with you sir. The spells require true intent to kill and torture, it barely has anything to do with hatred." replied Kenneth.

"And how exactly did you find such true intent to kill and torture?" asked Moody.

"It was easy actually. I have to thank the character evaluation you all made us go through in the beginning. I just imagined myself being in the same situation, then instead of doing to right thing, I imagine myself doing the wrong thing," replied Kenneth.

Moody quietly observed the new recruit, the rest of the class had heard the conversation and soon many was able to preform the curses.

.......

"I knew I would find you somewhere in here," said Isaac.

Kenneth looked up at Isaac from the book on human transfiguration he was reading. He has been learning and diving deep into transfiguration magic. He did not need to learn cross species transfiguration as he could already transform into any creature he wanted to, but he still memories the anatomy of all the magical and non-magical creatures. What he really tried to learn was human transfiguration, which was actually dangerous. Transfiguring from one object to another with similar size was easy, however, transfiguring to a different size was an issue and transfiguring into a in-animated object was difficult and dangerous. This was because one had to make sure you keep your consciousness active while you transfigure, otherwise he/she forever be stuck in the object he/she transfigured to unless another witch or a wizard releases you.

"Hey, what's up?" Kenneth asked.

"We completed it," Isaac replied. Kenneth's eyes sparkled a little bit as he thought, "finally." He snapped the book close. Isaac had taken Kenneth's idea of creating a map of the forest to the rest of the group. Everyone had come to an agreement that they would all enter the forest individually and head different directions and map out the entire forest. After 6 months, they finally finished mapping out the forest.

"You still don't want to get into a team, even with a team, it would be difficult to get all the three tokens in time, the forest is simply too vast," said Isaac.

"No, I have my own plan," with Kenneth spatial and transformation skills, it was easy for him to get anywhere he wanted without being detected. Teaming up with others only add weight to himself, and if they mess up, he would also fail. He knew it would be a tough task for everyone else, when he was scouting out the forest, he would that there was many creatures who was very sensitive to magic, some even had spells and other detection time magical items and traps placed around.

"Don't you get lonely being by yourself? I would probably killed myself out of boredom," said Isaac.

"No one like to be truly alone, I am just the type who only likes to surround myself few and true friends. You are different from me, since you have been doing business for so long, you have gotten used to being surrounded by people," replied Kenneth, then he continued, "speaking of business, my wife is into business, she runs the shop called "Nagini's spatial items" in Diagon Alley. how about dinner at my place later on today? I can introduce the two of you, perhaps you might be able to give her a few tips on running and expanding the business."

Isaac thought for a moment and said with a smirk, "sure, that would be great. I also wondered what sort of a women would marry a loner like you. I bet she has a loads of dirt on you."

"Oh she is definitely a one of a kind, but you don't need to worry too much. I know how to satisfy my wife," Kenneth smirked and winked at Isaac.

Isaac's mouth twitched and asked, "By the way, can I bring Sophia?"

"Sophia?" asked Kenneth, he thought for a moment, "Sophia Elford? you are dating her?" He guessed, Isaac knew Kenneth's personality so he wouldn't not have invited just anyone. Sophia Elford was one of their batch mates, she was a pretty blonde with a smart brain to back her up. Although she was not as talkative as Isaac, she had a bold and upright personality, and was one of the last people to be able to perform the unforgivable curses. She had said that if it was actual criminals she would be able to do it, but performing them on animals felt wrong.

"Yea, unlike you who is a loner, the rest of us gets together from time to time, me and her hit it off in the last gathering," said Isaac.

"Bring her along then," said Kenneth.

.........

Diagon Alley - Nagini's Spatial Items

Nagini was sitting behind her desk with a frown on her beautiful face. She was facing two people that has been annoying her for a few months.

"For the last time Mr. Crabbe, Mr. Goyle. I refuse to hand the secrets of my spatial items over, and don't even think about trying to get it out of my employees. The only ones that knows how creates these items are me," said Nagini. Their shop had gotten more and more popular in the alley and a few was interested in collaborating and expanding with them, however, these two outright demanded that she should hand the shop over to them for 500 galleons. Not only that, they wanted to "hire" her to create items for them, but the terms on the contract might as well be summed up into a slave contract. It was a complete joke, especially when their shop actually made a profit of 200 galleons per month.

"Don't try to fool us Mrs. Webb, we know your husband can also make the items. Must we remind you who we are again? and what sort of things we use to do? It would be a pity of something was to happen to him out of the blue," said Crabbe Sr.

"Are you threatening me?" she asked coldly.

"Take it as you will. We are done waiting for you, you will only have a week to decide, if we do not get a favorable answer the next time we are here, then we will start taking more.... drastic measures," said Crabbe Sr. He and Goyle Sr. got up from their chairs and started to make their way out of the store.

John the evening shift manager walked in and asked, "Are they still giving you trouble?"

"mmm, their are making threats now," Nagini answered.

"What should me do?" asked John.

"I don't think things are as simple as they seem, everyone knows how those two are a bit thick in the head. There is probably someone behind them, the question is who?" said Nagini.

"The Malfoys or the Notts is a good guess," said John, after all, the Goyle and Crabbe families were known to be their lackeys.

Nagini walked in front of the window in her office and crossed her arms and said, "Probably, John, tell the rest of the teams to be careful while travelling back and forth from work. If they feel unsafe, allow them to take a break and they can come back ones the storm blows over."

"Are you not going to tell Jason? He would want to know," asked John

Seeing as Nagini was being quiet, he excused himself to inform the rest of the employees who was having dinner of what was happening. Nagini was contemplating on what to do with the situation, if it was any other competitor, she would not be worried as they would at least try to play by the rules. However, these two was being unreasonable, and she knew only force could get rid of unreasonable people. Her frown got slightly steeper because she had no clue on what to do.

She flinched when two warm hands wrapped around her waist but relaxed when she heard a familiar voice, "Whats wrong? you were so absorbed in your thoughts that you did not even notice me walking in."

"You are back," she relaxed and smiled and leaned back while placing the back of her head on Kenneth shoulders.

"Tell me whats going on?" asked Kenneth.

Nagini sighed and told him the entire story, it was not because she wanted help. It was because, if those two really made a move, she did not want Kenneth to be blindsided.

Kenneth frowned when he heard the story and asked, "Do you know who is behind them?"

"I tried probing them, but they did not reveal it but I'm sure its one of two families," said Nagini, while Kenneth nodded, She turned around and looked up to Kenneth and said, "Jase, let me handle them. I just told you so you won't get blindsided by them."

Kenneth looked deep into Nagini's eyes and after a moment of silence he nodded and said, "Fine, but you must tell me if things get out of hand or if you or anyone in this store is in danger."

"I will, don't worry," she said.

"Come with me, I have someone I need to introduce you to," said Kenneth.

"Oh? you have friends?" asked Nagini with a amused smile. But she knew he had a friend called Isaac Garnett from the training camp.

Kenneth snorted and said, "It's Isaac and his girlfriend Sophia Elford. She is one of our batch mates, apparently they started going out just recently,"

When Isaac saw Kenneth reenter the shopping area with a woman behind him, he knew it was Kenneth's wife. When he saw Nagini he was stunned, while his mouth hanged open. Sophia chuckled, she had the same reaction when she going closer to Kenneth the and took a good look at him. Still, she pinched the side of Isaac ribs, shocking him out of his daze.

When the couple got closer, Isaac commented, "I can't believe this loner got himself such a beautiful woman as his wife, did he drug you?"

Nagini smiled and joked, "I chased after him first, I have to say, I did get burned at our first meeting." She then winked at Kenneth at her double meaning, she did get burned at their first meeting, literally.

Isaac gasped and said, "Lucky you man, but you really life up to your loner identity, you even refused such a women in the first meeting."

"What? you are not lucky to enough then?" asked Sophia while smiling coldly at Isaac.

Isaac felt chills down his spine and he quickly corrected his blunder and said, "Lucky! Of course I'm lucky to have met you!"

Kenneth snickered at Isaac and said to the rest of the group, "Lets dine out, Henry's delicious steak is a good option, what do you lot think?"

The group did not have any objection and made their way to the restaurant, Isaac and Nagini hit it off and talked a lot about how to run and expand a business, while Kenneth and Sophia also talked and got to know more about each other.
