As earlier said in "Elements of Novels", a main character has some things that make him stand out. These are the unique power of a main character which no other character has. These are things are what make main characters unique from other characters. They are;
1. Plot Armour: When other characters are busy putting on their armour preparing for a battle, the main character has put on his "Plot Armour" since the beginning. "Plot Armour" is a special armour only the main character has that protects him from the antagonist, making him so overpowered but because of this armour, some times people lose intwrest in novels as the main character is always dominating his opponents. Therefore, it is advisable to not allow your main character to wear the "Plot Armour" forever unless he would be too overpowered.
2. Powerful Skills: Since main characters are meant to be the strongest, the main character is to have powerful skills but he should not have "Author's Pen" for he would dominate his opponents easily. A skill like that can rewrite history therefore, make the main character develop.
3. Development: Every main characyer can not be powerful over night therefore, you should develop the character slow by steady. Most characters develop through quests, missions, blessings, sacrifices and training. These are the best methods to develop a main character.
