Chapter 26: Chapter 26: First meeting with Zhang Yong
The siblings was still resting when they heard cars coming one after another in front of their gate, then there were sound of people instructions to unload the things into the courtyard.
Bai Yi Yang was taking a nap with the three children in their bedroom while Bai Yi Chen stay in the living room.
So when Bai Yi Yang was woken up by this sounds, she didn't rush to come out, let Bai Yi Chen can handle the people, she is taking her sweet time to wake up.
Bai Yi Ling was also was woken up by that sound but she quickly tell her to continue resting. The children is exhausted from this morning cleaning, let them rest a bit more. When they woke up later, she will let them do whatever they want, there is no task for them this evening and the punishment for the two little one is done.
Bai Yi Yang briefly comb her hair and tied it up neatly. Only after that she step out of the bedroom.
"You woke up?" Bai Yi Chen seems to be waiting for her at the living room, but he didn't went in to wake her up.
"En, the other is still sleeping? Is Uncle Duan and Uncle Lu here?" She ask.
"Yes. They came with a young man and the workers, I let them sit in the kitchen to wait for you." Bai Yi Chen said.
"Alright, thanks. I will go meet them." Bai Yi Yang said.
"I will be with the other workers to finish up the roof tiles. I don't really know about the things you are discussing with them. Call me when you are heading to the farm." Bai Yi Chen said before they separate way.
Bai Yi Yang hummed as she walk to the kitchen with light feet. She is not tired from doing works, but it is still good to have a little nap. She feel much more energised. Uncle Lu is with two workers in the courtyard, they are counting the materials when Bai Yi Yang says hi to them briefly.
"Yatou, we will be using the living room to put these thing. Is that okay with you?" Uncle Lu ask.
"Of course. Uncle if you are worried that my young siblings are going to messed things up, then you can use the empty room at the left side to put all of these." Bai Yi Yang said.
"Then, we will gladly use that." Uncle Lu nod in agreement then start telling his worker to move.
Bai Yi Yang then head to the kitchen, he saw another worker has start to make hole through the wall between the kitchen and laundry room while Uncle Duan is sitting at the dinner table with a young man sitting opposite him, they are lightly talking.
"Uncle Duan.." Bai Yi Yang called out. Both of the people sitting at the table turn their head.
"Ah..yatou..you are here.." Uncle Duan said brightly as she also says hi to Uncle Duan.
Bai Yi Yang also maintain a polite smile when he saw the neatly dressed young man next to Uncle Duan, she wondered if this person is really the person that Uncle Duan said to do the countertop. He doesn't look like someone who do this kind of job, instead he look like a rich young master having a stroll to the countryside. Quite handsome too, she thought.
"Let me introduced you to Zhang Yong, he has a workshop in town that specialise in interior design. And this is Bai Yi Yang, the person I told you about." Uncle Duan introduced the two people with each other.
"Hello, nice to meet you.." Bai Yi Yang smile politely.
"Hello Miss Bai, nice to meet you too.." Zhang Yong also returns the greeting.
"Since I have things to do, then you two discuss." Uncle Duan stood up and went to help his worker. The faster they finished their job, the better.
"I see you have quite a renovation works going on in this house." Zhang Yong smile. At most he is only 25 so he looks quite charming when he smile, in addition to his neat appearance, Bai Yi Yang sure that he is a women killer. With this look and appearance, he can easily pass as the so-called handsome playboy. From the city most probably, someone from their small town won't exude this kind of aura, she thought again.
"Yes. The house is in a very bad condition, so we want to do renovations once and for all." Bai Yi Yang chat lightly with him.
"Maintaining a courtyard house is quite difficult, Miss Bai is capable." Zhang Yong praise. He was quite shocked and curious too when he heard about the siblings situation, orphans and no adults supporting them. It is not easy to survive for years. What more, she heard the mastermind is only a 16 years old girl. Seeing her now, her look is quite pretty but still ordinary type of pretty, it was the vibe she exude that make her stands out.
"Mr.Zhang is exaggerating, we siblings only want to live a more comfortable life." Bai Yi Yang said.
"En." Zhang Yong smile and nod on agreement.
"Then, can Mr.Zhang show me a few design I can choose first." Bai Yi Yang doesn't want outsider to know very much about their family, so she quickly changed the topic.
"Very well..Miss Bai this are the samples of design our shop has done before." Zhang Yong like her decisiveness and showed some picture in the file with details description below. The materials, size, techniques. The design are quite modern too, Bai Yi Yang doesn't believe that they simply own a small workshop in town.
"Everything looks quite good. Do you travel around to do job most of the time?" Bai yi Yang flipped through the file as she asked.
"Miss Bai is quick to catch. Yes, we mostly are not in town, this town is a bit small to get many customers who interested in this kind of design." Zhang Yong smile deepened. He really like this girl, she is observant and understands a lot if things.
"Then I will take your service. I would like countertops and cabinet installed, and also build in sink. As for the design I will leave it to you. As for the materials, can you give me suggestions, I would like something neat and clean looking." BaiYi Yang said.
"I would suggest marble or granite, but the price is quite on the higher side." Zhang Yong said.
"Do you want it to be build over there?" He point at the kitchen area where the fireplace and woods are situated.
"Yes." Bai Yi Yang nod.
"Then let me show you a quick sketch." Zhang Yong draw on his notebook and show it to Bai Yi Yang.
"En, I like this. But I want a tall cabinet here, then on this side, remove the overhead cabinet. The sink should be right in front of the window, and spare some space here, the fridge I bought is quite big so I definitely need a larger space than this. Then, this cabinet near the sink, I want a build in garbage bin.." Bai Yi Yang continue telling him her preference before he cut her off.
"Garbage bin as in like the one in fast food restaurant?" Zhang Yong asked. He have seen build in garbage bin but he never made one. People often complain that with a garbage bin in the kitchen, it looks much more less appealing, so garbage bin design has been a thing too. Bai Yi Yang idea of hiding it will look more neat.
"Yes. The design is simple, but if Mr.Zhang think this is not doable the I don't mind." Bai Yi Yang said.
"No, its doable, just I never think about this." Zhang Yong laugh.
"En, alright. Then, the distance between the counter on the walls and the independent counter, I want it to be more spacious, I don't like tight space. I think that is all for now." Bai Yi Yang said. Zhang Yong agree and nod a few times. While Bai Yi Yang was talking, he made modifications to his sketch.
"Does this look more similar to the one in your mind?" Zhang Yong show the final sketch.
"En, it's like this." Bai Yi Yang is satisfied, this Zhang Yong is really quite capable.
"Then I will take a quick measurement and briefly state the cost." ZhangYong took out his measuring tape and walk around the kitchen.
"My rough estimation are about 40 ft2. Then, if based it with what I have in mind, then that will be about 15,000 yuan in total. When the job is done, then we will calculate it again, is that alright with you?" Zhang Yong make a not in his book.
"Yes. That's fine with me. How is the payment done?" Bai Yi Yang said.
"Payment will be settled after everything is done." Zhang Yong smile. Zhang Yong asked a few more things regarding the cabinet, colour, compartment and so on before the discussion is finished.
"Our team will start working on Monday, we still have project to finished tomorrow and Sunday is a holiday for the worker. Is that alright?" Zhang Yong said.
"That is fine with me." Bai Yi Yang agree, a few days won't make much difference. Bai Yi Yang send Zhang Yong out to the main gate after Zhang Yong said his goodbye with Uncle Duan .
"Miss Bai, may I ask something out of topic?" Zhang Yong suddenly said when they were heading out.
"Yes..what it is?" Bai Yi Yang smile politely.
"Just now when taking measurements doe the countertop, I saw that you have farm behind your house and seems like you are drying a lot of mushrooms over there." He says.
"Yes, that's true. It was the mushrooms we personally forage from around the mountain."
"Wild mushrooms?" He lit up and Bai Yi Yang nod.
"I was wondering if you want to sell it. You see..this one friend of mine operate a supermarket, these kind of natural wild mushrooms is hard to find. The price is higher than commercialised mushrooms, the supermarket will definitely accept it, I also would like to buy some to take home." Zhang Yong said carefully, he don't want to look too eager. To be honest, when he saw it from afar, he almost cannot stop himself from asking on the spot, luckily he has job to do.
"Then I really cannot do that for this batch since someone has agreed to buy it from me. But I will set aside some for you if you want, Mr.Zhang." Bai Yi Yang smile politely, Boss Sun has replied her and wants to buy everything that she is selling. She really cannot sell it to anyone this time.
"That's a bummer. May I ask what kind of mushrooms do you have?" Zhang Yong is a bit disappointed. That products will be good to be added in shelf to boost the supermarket popularity. There are not much supermarket who can supply wild mushrooms even in small quantities. It is hard to find them, even local supermarket don't sell it much these days.
"We have ear woods, bamboo fungus, wild shiitake, oyster mushroom, chanterelles, lion's mane mushroom, and most are morels for this batch." Bai Yi Yang said. Zhang Yong was amazed when he heard that list and a bit jealous to the buyer, this much good things slips through her hand.
"Then, I will be shameless for this time, hope Miss Bai can set aside some for me." Zhang Yong said. If he send this good things home, won't the old folks at home be overjoyed. Their palate has become sensitive and dislike the mass produced mushrooms, they will surely love wild mushrooms.
"No problem, just a small thing." Bai Yi Yang nod.
After saying a few more words, Zhang Yong left. He brought his own car here today so he didn't have to wait until Uncle Duan finished his work.
Bai Yi Yang went back inside and enter the Main house to change clothes. When she was heading out again, she remind Xiao Ling who is lying around with her phone that someone is outside at the living room to do works. Xiao Ling nod and ask her not to worry, she also said that she will head out later when the two children woke up.
Only then Bai Yi Yang left the room. Today, she planned to cut down some trees to expand their small farm. She can also use the wood to make Bai Yi Ling outdoor plant stand.
She had seen this beautiful design of multiple tiers plant stand, she planned to make a bigger and much more sturdy plant stand so it can fit all of Bai Yi Ling plants, she will let it embedded into the ground so that even if there are strong wind, the stand won't be blow away. Bai Yi Ling will surely love it.
So she didn't waste time and quickly set up her chainsaw and measuring tools, to make wood planks.
