When he opened his eyes, the city was gone, the world around him having shifted without his realizing. Gone were the brightly lit buildings, the crowds desperate for one more fix. They had been replaced with walls of burgundy and a hardwood floor. Music, a haunting instrumental, wafted from the speaker on the nearby dresser. He knew the bedroom, knew it like every feather on his wings. There were memories in this place, the sort that stirred a heat deep in the pit of his stomach. As if sensing the increase in his body temperature, lips grazed the soft skin along the side of his neck, trailing light kisses until they ran into the collar of his shirt.
