Duncan seethed. All that irritation and for no reward. Perhaps he might have to reconsider the decision to hire him.2

The peace had been disturbed. Duncan dived into the cold water and swam a series of laps to rid himself of the tension caused by his frustrations. Gripping the side of the pool, he heaved himself out, his strong arm muscles rippling as they bore his weight.

Dripping, he returned to the house, feeling much better, although his hormones wouldn’t let him rest completely. After showering and slipping on a white towelling bathrobe, he located one of his mobile phones and dialled the number of an exclusive escort service he occasionally utilised when his desires didn’t run to offering small talk or foreplay

“Italian,” he said. “Hairy and rough-looking. Nothing preened or clipped.”

“Age, sir?”

“Mid to late thirties. Masculine. Not boyish.”

“Very well, sir. I’m sure Alessio will suit your needs. And we have your card on file?”

“Yes.”

He hung up and waited.
