Chapter 7: the poison effect
Achlys felt injured after the mission but decided not to say anything. Her team already got the last place,if she complained it might just annoy them. Naomi had been nagging since the mission and even made it difficult for her to concentrate during the lectures.
The lectures they had was always about politics and how to protect the city through their power . Even though it was boring, it was better than being locked in the stonage palace .
" You are not looking well, is something wrong? " Kali asked her , " no, I guess I'm not used to this weather yet " she replied.
" Ahh... you must live very far away from here , I heard that after the test tomorrow we will be given a short break so we can leave " Kali told her .
Lucius walked closer to where they sat " what are you guys talking about ? " he asked. " Kali was telling me about a break after tomorrow's test " achlys replied
" Really , that would be much better , because I can't stand staying here anymore , anytime I want to practice my nose starts bleeding , I can only cultivate in a clean environment " Lucius said making everyone laugh.
" Let's go in Callum or Naomi must not see us here or they'll complain that we're too relaxed " Lucius said and they stood up to leave when they saw someone being dragged to a building in the school.
" What was that ? " Lucius asked .
" I heard that if you break the school rules you would be severely punished for it I guess that is what that place is for" Kali explained.
" How is it like inside there ? "he asked again. "if you are so curious why don't you go" Achlys said with humor and left.
In the kingdom of Derius , there have been recent killings and the people are anxious . The high ranking officials have been suspecting Xyde who is a sorcerer.
Sorcerers have been banished as people believe it is a demonic practice . However they are apprehensive to approach the Queen who is the ruler because she keeps him close to her since he's a relative. " The queen will enter soon " a palace guard announced.
" Even if he's close to the queen, murder is a grievious offense , she can't deny that , today in this meeting we have to discuss this with her " the left state minister said . " Prime minister you are the highest official among us , how can you just do nothing , are you afraid the queen will remove you" he said again . The prime minister whose name was levon kept quiet , he had been in the court for a long time that he knew when to speak and when not to .
The Queen entered and everyone stood up to greet her. After the greeting no one talked as they kept look at each other.
" I believe something brought all of you here " the Queen said , and that made the situation worse as no one looked up until the left minister talked. " Your majesty, the people are anxious about the recent killings that has been going on in our land and we came here to extend their fear to you" he said .
" Ahh is that so ? I have asked the investigation bureau to look into it , is that all ? " she asked.
" Uhmm, no .... we have a strong suspect for this incidence , the only person that can kill this people within a short period of time " he said again.
" Then give him to the investigator , so that they will look into it" she replied . " They dare not investigate this person because of he is closely related to you . The person is Xyde " he said .
At this point the silence returned as the Queen leaned back on her seat and kept looking at him . "Did you have conclusive evidence to what you just said or did you just want to disrespect me " she said very coldly
" But your Majesty, you know that Xyde is a sorcerer , he can't be trusted , an eyewitness said that he saw four people being killed suddenly and it was so fast, the only person that can kill people within such a short period of time is out of the ordinary " he said
" I didn't know you were this smart , what I asked you was to bring proof and not your speculations or some baseless rumors , Levon do you also think that my aide Xyde who only follows my order is responsible for this ? she asked
" As your majesty said , he is your loyal servant he will never do anything to harm the Queen or your people " levon replied making the others doubt the other officials . " Then I guess this meeting is over " she said with an air of authority and left .
