Chapter 6: 2 Years
It has been 2 years since Thor started living and learning under Eorlund and Fralia. His daily routine was to wake up, help Fralia cook breakfast, do the exercises Eorlund created for him, learn from Fralia, learn forging from Eorlund by either watching him or reading some books Eorlund had, have a snack of meat to give him more protein, do the exercises again, then help Fralia cook dinner, circulate mana till exhaustion and go to sleep. For two years that was his schedule and he's seen a lot of growth as when he was five he went from the average 5 year old height to being 7 years old and looking like a 10 year old.
A/N: Just to be sure you all understand what I mean right? If not what I mean is when he was 5 he looked like your average 5 year old but in two years he's grown to look like a 10 year old as a 7 year old.
Until today when Eorlund finally decided he can start training with a sword. So here they stand behind the house in the snow. "Ok boy in these couple years you've grown a lot to where you'd be able to easily out muscle kids quite a few years older than you so it's time to teach you how to use a sword but I won't be teaching you the normal way by teaching you stances and having you fight a dummy." Eorlund said while putting up an assortment of weapons on a rack behind the house "Then how will you teach me?" Thor asked confused "First before we get to that grab some weapons and try them out and tell me which you want to learn" Eorlund said while standing off to the side and waiting. Thor just nods and proceeds to pick up a couple weapons like a spear, sword and shield, and daggers till in the end he goes with what he's planned this whole time.
Eorlund seeing him pick what he had smiled "Are you sure you want to use dual swords boy? While in many ways they are better than a single sword they are far harder to learn and master?
"I'm sure Grandpa, they just feel right" Thor says while holding the two swords. "Good from now on for a couple months you will spar with me everyday while I point out what you're doing wrong. After that we will head into the mountains for you to fight wild animals like wolves, bears, and trolls. And you don't need to worry about dying, I won't let you die but you will bleed and break bones and anything that's not lethal you'll have to deal with yourself whether its stitching up your wounds or splinting your broken bones but I will interfere before it's too serious so you will not die. Pain is the best teacher, so I will ask you one last time are you sure Thor that you want to go through with this?
Eorlund says while looking at Thor with the most serious face he has seen on Eorlund since he met him. He's usually a kind and funny grandpa to Thor but from what he has said up till now it's clear that if Thor wants to go through learning from him he'll be put through hell to make him the best he can possibly be. Thor is stunned for a while and is truly thinking if this is the best option or if he should find a different way to train after all what sane person would readily agree to be put through hell but in the end Thor realizes that although he will be put through hell it's his best chance at growing strong.
After the minutes pass and Thor makes his decision he looks at Eorlund "I am sure Grandpa, I will learn from you even if I have to go through all you have said" Eorlund walks over and pats Thor on the head "Good, I am glad you truly thought about your answer before telling me. That shows that you aren't rash but are willing to go through something most wouldn't think of to get stronger. Now let us start our spar" As Eorlund says this he picks up a wooden sword and shield and starts the beati..... Spar that was to come.
