Chapter 23: Prepared
Lin Meilin was also preparing her research team at the hospital for the project at Flower District.
"Miss Lin,does the hospital have the capacity to fund this project,"a senior doctor asked. Everybody else really wanted an answer.
This project was originally assigned to Yu Research Institute by the government. It provided funds to Yu Research Institute and a few hospitals or research institutes they decided to work with. The Lin Family Hospital wasn't chosen among any of the two and they were technically doing this with their own funds. It was now like an investment whereby if they succeeded,they would get honors and many other benefits like government projects and investments.
They weren't the only ones doing this and other hospitals that weren't chosen were doing it too to get benefits.
Lin Meilin put up a confident smile and explained everything patiently again. This whole thing was frustrating.
The Yu and Lin family hospitals were like comparing the heavens and earth. One was obviously more unreachable. The Yu Hospitals, Research, Military based medical facilities and training institutes were all under the same group. Each one of them has the best equipment and medicines despite the fair and even low prices charged. The prices were according to the capability of the payer and this was done effectively by dividing the facilities i.e. Certain hospitals were for certain payments or classes of people like rich, middle class or poor, but regardless all under Yu Family Hospitals. Infact,in XY country,only Lin Hospital dared to think they could compare to it. The other had successfully gone international.
The meeting was over with Lin Meilin gaining approval but nobody was ready to invest yet, people to see results first. It was all frustrating for Meilin. Where was that amount going to come from.
At home, Lin Meilin was getting more and more praises. It wasn't even only at home but also in the country where she was also one of the most promising doctors.
This obviously spiked up the anger in both Lin Yaoha and Qinqing's hearts. Beneath their smiles was jealousy and envy. Lin Yaoha had lived long and knew that Lin Meilin certainly wasn't pure and had some dirt somewhere, problem was digging it out was hard.
"Jingxuan, I think it's time for us to decide the date to discuss the engagement with the Fengs," Wang Changli said.
Lin Jingxuan rested his chopsticks and took a good look at his mother. How can she talk about it unless she wants to arrange it for Meilin. The arrangement was made for Yue Ling when she was younger.
"Meilin isn't growing any younger," Wang Changli added with a trace of fondness for Meilin in her eyes.
Lin Yaoha snickered as she glared at her mother.
"Wasn't that engagement between Feng Laotian and Lin Yue Ling, mother." She put emphasis on Yue Ling and asked as though she didn't know the answer.
Lin Jingxuan knew the trouble was beginning and said,"Shouldn't we be worried about what the hospital is going through, can an engagement be discussed with all this pending?"
Lin Yaoha didn't mind and continued.
"Mother, if ever Meilin is to marry, think about your other granddaughter Qinqing," Lin Yaoha spoke.
Lin Qinqing folded her arms and acted spoiled. She was only months younger than Meilin and also deserved to be planned for. Who didn't want to be a rich miss to sit around and boss people.
Wang Changli merely glanced and said,"I will work on it,let's eat."
Her mood had definitely dropped down. Lin Qinqing was very different from Meilin.
If the two were put in a marriage contest, Meilin would be first with a reward while Qinqing would be last and you would even plead with someone to take her to save you the shame! It was in simple terms,she was an extra to the reward and not the reward itself.
Meilin was an accomplished doctor while Qinqing studied Fashion halfway in a nearby country. The nearby country gave her a spot in that Fashion School because of some strings that were pulled.
When a boutique was set up for her with millions of money to work and make money on her own or even a name,in two months she had failed miserably and even acquired debts because she was giving away free products to rich friends to look rich and gain connections. Her brain was smaller than a pea.
Lin Qinqing and Lin Yaoha were an embarrassement to the old lady and the family. To top it all off Lin Qinqing's roots weren't known because Lin Yaoha didn't tell anyone about the father. Lin Yaoha was also known to some people as a prodigal daughter. She run away before her wedding to a wealthy man and came back pregnant.
Qinqing was using the surname Lin, her maternal name. Not telling the father's name obviously showed he wasn't as affluent as Lin Yaoha said. This granddaughter wasn't even as beautiful as their family decendants. The father must be some wild man judging by her unruly behavior too.
Growing up as a princess didn't turn a villager. Wang Changli's face was already twisted to the max.
By now,none of the family members had the mood to eat. This was how it had always been with them biting each other's necks. None of them became happy if you moved a step higher.
Lin Jingxuan missed his wife and daughter greatly, this kind of life was tiring.
Lin Yaoha swore in her heart to protect what's hers.
The reason for all of this, Lin Meilin was aside as she had just come back from her office at home to give documents to her father. This conversation meant no significance since she already had Laotian's heart.
She just couldn't tell anybody about her connection to Feng Laotian for now,her plan had to succeed first.
With that,she silently withdrew her steps and went back without being noticed.
To everybody except Yue Ling, Han Li and Lehan's arrival wasn't a problem.
The ring Lehan wore on his thumb was a golden ring with words carved "ruler".
She saw Feng Laotian wearing this ring and with the little she knew,it held a certain amount of power in his family. He also mentioned he went through alot to get it.
Was Lehan a Feng, how come she didn't know? That whole family was a pack of hungry wolves.
She couldn't bring herself to trust Lehan.
Also, the connection between the Fengs and Lu's. The hatred Feng Laotian seemed to bear against the Yu's.
Was Mr. Xi a Feng or Lu? Or even a Yu.
