Chapter 27: So that you don't regret it later.
He had very fair smooth skin and slightly trimmed black hair that looked so soft that you could see the scalp inside. His eyes were light black almost looking grey and his nose was sharp. The jaws were not to sharp and eyelashes were thick. He also had slightly darker thin lips.
Yue Ling forgot she was openly staring at Lehan. She was more focused on finding a similarity between him and Feng Laotian. Thinking and looking too much even made her feel like they had known each other in the past. She knew him from somewhere.
Lehan should be around 25, Feng Laotian is the same age too so they aren't brothers but maybe half brothers or relatives.
Lehan cleared his throat and managed to get her attention.
When he asked Yue Ling whether they had met prior to the day of the accident, she suddenly started staring at him for too long. He assumed she was trying to remember but her eyes kept staring at him in a very unfriendly way forcing him to get her attention back.
"Let me rest," Yue Ling said before turning her head and lying down on her seat.
The conversation ended with that.
Not long after, they had arrived and Lehan parked the car.
Yue Ling got out without being woken up and she didn't even make an effort to hide that she was awake.
Lehan noticed that and just followed her.
The house they walked to was an old bungalow with a template that read,"Min Residence."
This was where the fifty year old lady lived. They knocked and the door was opened by a grumpy looking young man.
"What can I do for you?"he asked.
"Good day," Yue Ling said as she showed her work ID.
The man frowned before letting them in.
The old lady, Mrs. Min had a grieved look on her face.
It turned out, the grumpy man was her son and he was leaving home because he didn't want to get infected.
"Doctor, can you really find a cure?" Mrs. Min asked hopefully. This could surely help solve the current probli.
Before Yue Ling could speak,her son intervened and said," My decision doesn't change, I'm still leaving this place."
"You should not leave your old mother alone," Yue Ling advised.
"Who asked for your opinion?" he shouted.
"I have a better future outside, here I can only be a farmer," he added on.
Now this was the real reason he couldn't stay. It was clearly explained that the disease only affected a certain age group but he said he didn't want to get sick.
At times, certain professions aren't properly understood leading to people assuming they were inferior. This man was uncomfortable with being called a farmer but he earned enough to last him long without working.
The Min Family had a large piece of land which they had been farming on for generations. They even had the capacity to increase the amount of land through buying.
Their flower business just like others in the district exported their produce and earned alot. Problem was,the current generation didn't have interest in farming.
Many more before Mrs. Min's son Tang had fallen prey to this.
Tang was their only descendant left. Her husband died a few years back and they had only one child,a son. She was already getting weaker due to age otherwise she could take care of the business herself. If Tang really left, he probably wouldn't come back again and she didn't know for how long she'd live.
"It may be none of my business but I don't want you to do something you will regret," Yue Ling said.
She knew very well what she was talking about because she had done the same thing to her mother. Back then, their relationship wasn't good and her best option was leaving.
If she knew she'd die early, she wouldn't do that. To make things worse, she only spent a short time with her mother and got to know how much Yi Shuyan loved her.
Min Tang wasn't a bad kid but he was influenced but what others were doing. Witnessing the deaths and nearly all his pears leaving to start a better life,he started losing his way.
After hearing all this, he went back to his room to think again. He didn't have the heart to leave his mother alone.
Yue Ling smiled, someone who had a conscience was still a good person. She made the right choice by intervening because she needed these two in the future.
"Your parents are lucky to have you,"Mrs. Min said gratefully.
"You requested to come see the flowers," She added on.
"Yes, let's go," Yue Ling replied.
Lehan's idleness led to him constantly observing Yue Ling. She was hiding something, what was it?
After looking at the flower gardens, Yue Ling asked for a sample of their pesticide and they left.
The key to everything was the pesticide. Specifically a chemical it contained. Now, everything was going to be solved.
Lehan noticed that the atmosphere in the car had changed. Yue Ling was now openly looking around and using her phone for something.
Suddenly, a car in front of theirs collided with them.
It was bigger than theirs. After the collision, it pushed their car further behind. Yue Ling's eyes were now wide open while Lehan looked so angry.
This was intentional, the driver wanted to harm them. The two large military vehicles wouldn't face problems but the people inside would.
Lehan pulled Yue Ling out and they jumped through his door side.
They say the car at a distance pushing their vehicle further backwards. "Let's leave,"Lehan said.
They had to walk back to the camp now.
The distance was walkable and the two kept thinking about what went wrong.
Yue Ling thought about various possibilities. Except the people close to her, nobody knew about this trip.
This was a security precaution because she could be harmed by enemies.
Who was responsible for this deliberate attack?
She turned to look at Lehan. She didn't trust him but he was also in the vehicle and had technically saved her life. Her heart couldn't bring itself to hate him.
She realized they were holding hands and tried to break free when he held her hand even tighter.
Because she was not in the mood to fight, she let it go and they held hands till they arrived.
"I will get to the bottom of this," Lehan said.
Yue Ling thought for a while before saying,"thank you."
At the camp, Dr. Bai had just arrived not too long ago.
