Chapter 1: Chapter 1 : The Dragon Mage
It's a nice and sunny day in Kikka, where the Magic Knights Entrance Exams is held inside a large coliseum and is currently registering hundreds of aspired mages to become a Magic Knight. One of these participants is a tall, slim and young former noble from Acra Village, who has a short black hair and has bangs that levels with his scarlet eyes, dressed in an all-black outfit, and possesses a strong and rare magic that grants him the abilities of a "dragon", Dragon Magic. And that mage's name is Draku Azrael.
Upon entering the examination site, he then waits in line for registration. While he waits, he then heard that there's a 4-leaf user joining the exams, which indicates that the mage is highly blessed with mana. Also, he heard that he's from Hage, which is a remote village that can be found nearby the famous demon skull that was brought down 500 years ago by the First Wizard King, Lumiere Silvamillion.
Afterwards, Draku continued waiting in his line and then finally, it's his turn.
"Name and your grimoire, please.", the attendant asked.
"Draku from Acra Village.", he then hands his black and red slim grimoire to the attendant and touched it.
"Number 186", the attendant spoke.
"Thank you.", Draku thanked him and enters the coliseum.
As he enters the arena, he was then amazed on how vast the arena is on the inside.
"Wow. It's bigger than I expected.", Draku thought.
Then, a pack of anti-birds, which are birds that are attracted to weak magic, descends from the sky and attacked those with low mana. Eventually, Draku expected that one of these will come for him yet, it seems no one came for him, which signifies that he/she has strong mana within him.
"Good grief. I'm glad that those pesky little demons just ignored me.", Draku thought.
On the other hand, the guy who was said to hold the 4-leaf grimoire was also ignored by the anti-birds and some of the examinees made a fuss between the two of them.
"These two guys are being ignored by the anti-birds. Does that mean they have are crazy high in mana?", a guy spoke.
"As expected from a 4-leaf mage user, but that guy with the scarlet eyes suprised me. Is he a noble or something?", another guy spoke.
"Amazing. I wonder what kind of magic do they possess?", another girl spoke.
Eventually, Draku and the 4-leaf guy would then meet each other's eyes and gazed in silence for a moment. The 4-leaf guy then looked away and minds his own business.
"So this is the gifted guy, huh? He's quite calm, cool and composed. Commendable.", Draku thought.
Suddenly, a loud-mouthed guy with a black headband would then show up, who is currently plagued by dozens of anti-birds and suprised everyone for it. Then, he calls out the 4-leaf guy and made everyone took notice of what he said.
"One of us is going to become the Wizard King. Our legend starts here, Yuno!", he passionately spoke before he running away from the anti-birds that kept attacking him relentlessly. Eventually, Draku would then hear his fellow examimees mocking him for what he said.
"Wizard King? Ha! Well there's one delusional here.", a guy spoke.
"You're right. I can't even sense anything from him.", his buddy replied.
"Hmmm. I wonder how he got inside?", Draku thought.
Then, the short guy would then crash into a muscular and intimidating guy, who has a sword in his side and tattered black robe with a bull logo, and leans his head back and gazed at him like he's about to murder someone.
"Of all the available guys here that you can crash into, you chose to do it with a man monstrous physique. What an unlucky guy you are.", Draku thought.
As a result, the muscular guy would then grab the short guy intensely, and even threatening to kill him.
"I'm going to kill you.", the swordsman straightforwardly spoke.
Suddenly, he then spots two individuals, who also has black robes with a bull logo within it and eventually, Draku then acquired their identities, thanks to them talking about who they really are.
"That bull logo in their robes, are they the Black Bulls?", a girl spoke.
"Yeah, it's them. The worst squad in the kingdom, filled with wild and boorish people that are almost impossible to work with. Oh wait, I remember that swordsman now, that's Yami Sukehiro, their captain.", a guy responded.
"Ara, ara. Oh, that's Finral Roulacase, the guy in the green. He's said to be one of the few mages who can use Spatial Magic yet, he's downside is that...", another girl spoke.
"He's obsessed in flirting women.", her friend replied.
"Correct.", she agreed.
"That guy with a scary-looking face, is Gordon Agrippa, right? Famous for his Poison Magic and his creepy and chilling presence, and they're not kidding when they said he looks like a legitimate demon.", another guy spoke.
"I'm not a demon. Plus, let's be friends, please.", Gordon silently spoke.
" Hey look, Gordon is mumbling something. Is he...cursing at us?", his buddy softly spoke to him(the guy who talked about Gordon).
"Negative reviews already from them, huh? So that's the infamous Black Bulls. What an interesting bunch of individuals.", Draku thought.
Eventually, fireworks were then fired towards the sky and Yami thrn drops the short, loud-mouthed guy to the ground and left with his members.
A moment later, the 9 mighty captains then showed up in the coliseum's balcony and made the crowd roar with excitement upon their appearance. And a moment afterwards, Draku then learned who and what they're capable of.
"So this are the 9 famous Magic Knight captains, huh? Nozelle Silva, Silver Eagle's captain and a royal, who has a weird but astonishing braid. Fuegoleon Silva, captain of the Crimson Lions and another royal, and looks strict and passionate. Jack The Ripper, Green Mantis' captain and an ex-commoner, who literally looks and acts like a criminal. Charlotte Roselei, captain of the Blue Roses and wow, she's really hot! Dorothy Unsworth, captain of the Coral Peacocks and...she's sleeping? Gueldre Poizot, Purple Orca's captain amd by the looks of him, he kinda looked sus as they say. Rill Boismortier, captain of Aqua Deer and the youngest among them with 19, looks immature. William Vangeance, captain of the strongest squad in the kingdom, Golden Dawn, and has this masquerade-looking mask, also looks sus but, it's aesthetic in a way so, it's a pass. And Yami Sukehiro, I knew him already. These folks are the best mages that Clover can offer, and just a level below from the Wizard King, who is the strongest of all mages in the kingdom. This is getting more and more interesting.", Draku thinked with excitement.
Eventually, William then commenced the exams with a speech and proxeeds to use his famous magic, World Tree Magic, where he summoned a huge tree in the sky and gave everyone brooms for their first test, where they need to either float or fly their own brooms with their mana, and so they did.
During the first test, half of the examinees managed well to use their brooms, while some of them struggled. However, only two were able to use their brooms at the fullest and did it without effort, Draku and the 4-leaf mage, Yuno. Again, the two gazed at each other again but this time, they actually spoke.
"So you're Yuno of Hage Village, right? The 4-leaf mage that everyone's talking about?", Draku asked.
"Yeah.", Yuno replied.
"I'm Draku of Acra Village, nice to meet you.", Draku kindly spoke.
"Nice to meet you too. Anyways, you have nice magic control, Draku.", Yuno calmly compliments him.
"You too. Just as I expected from a guy loved by mana, you effortlessly controlled it, Yuno.", Draku compliments him back.
The two would smile with each other until, they noticed the short and noisy guy struggling to even float his broom for just a second.
"My, my. That noisy dude is really an unfortunate one. Oh by the way, are you two related or something? He seems to know you. Do you know him, Yuno? ", Draku asked.
"Yeah. That short, buffed shrimp is Asta, who is my foster brother and my rival.", Yuno answered.
"Rival? That guy? You gotta be kidding me.", Draku responded.
"Yeah. But, I advise not to underestimate him, Draku.", Yuno seriously spoke.
"Hmmm, okay.", Draku responded with a smile. "Asta, huh? What makes you someone to not be underestimated with?", he thought.
Afterwards, Draku then noticed a silver-haired girl with long pigtails, who is hiding inside the pillars and seemed to be hesitating to go out. Eventually, she then returned inside, as it seemed that someone stopped her from going out.
"Who was that girl?", Draku thought.
Eventually, after the broom test, they would then advance on taking the other tests that were waiting for them, which Draku really performed well, and came to the final part of the exam, the combat test, where each and one of them should find a dueling partner and perform in front of the captains and show what he or she is capable of as a mage.
Eventually, everyone began finding their own partner for the combat test and Draku is struggling to find one, after the other examinees witnessed how powerful his magic is during the recent tests.
"Good grief. Why are they rejecting me as their partner? Hmmm. Maybe I should ask Yuno to become my dueling part-", his thought was then interrupted by a brown-haired guy, who wears an arrogant-looking face and dresses exactly like a noble, offered himself to become his partner.
"Hi there. My name is Bruno, son of House Fieroris, and I would like you to become my dueling partner for this test, agree?", he asked with a confidence.
"Sure. The name's Draku by the wa-", he was then interrupted once again by Bruno.
"Please don't bother telling me your name. We nobles don't interact with peasants such as you, okay? No hard feelings.", he spoke arrogantly.
"'No hard feelings', eh? I guess you came to the right guy, noble.", Draku spoke calmly but, he's currently boiling with fury on the inside. "I'll make sure you'll regret what you just said, you arrogant fool.", he thought.
Eventually, the first duo to perform is Asta and a yellow-haired guy named Sekke, who has the face of liar written all over him. Then, Draku remembered Yuno's words earlier about the loud-mouthed guy.
"'Do not underestimate him', you say? I hope you're telling the truth, Yuno.", he thought.
Then, before the match started, Sekke then arrogantly began mocking Asta in the face and went to position himself before their battle commences. Eventually, the match then began and Sekke immediately casts his magical bubble shield, which he boasted towards Asta and wants him to attack it. But then, the unexpected happen, as Asta just blasts himself from the ground and grabbed a huge black sword from his grimoire and DESTROYED Sekke in an instant, and shocked everyone with his victory.
"W-what just happened? What kind of magic de he use? No, the question is, did he really used magic to do that? And that giant sword of his, what the hell is that? Good grief. This guy that Yuno sees as his rival is no joke and not should be underestimated, even if he's magicless. What an interesting guy indeed!", Draku thought.
Afterwards, Asta would then scream in front of everyone his desire of becoming a Wizard King, which resulted of him getting laughed and mocked by his fellow examinees, as they see him as a delusional, while Sekke was sent away with a stretcher.
Eventually, their match was then followed by the other examinees, who then showed what they're capable of as a mage. Yet, in Draku's perspective, he sees that their performance is just average and not worth the time watch, until it was Yuno's turn and his noble partner named Salim. As they began the match, Salim then casts his Lightning Magic that he boasted towards Yuno, who just easily OBLITERATED the arrogant noble in an instant.
"A-amazing! So this is the power of a 4-leaf mage looks like. Yuno really lives up to his hype. Congrats!", Draku thought.
After their match, Bruno then spoke to him and wants to be the next pair to perform.
"Hey, peasant. We'll be the next ones who will prepare, so get-", he was then interrupted with a chilling tone with an intimidating gaze that came from Draku. "I have a name, y'know? Call me a 'peasant' one more time and I'll make this duel your grave."
Bruno was then moved with shivers and tried to remain composed, as he got terrified by his statement and responds to him the way Draku wanted him to react, "A-as you wish, D-Draku."
"Good. Now let's go and have a good match together.", Draku calmly and seriously spoke to him and both went to the center.
As the two positioned themselves first, Draku then began stretching first while gazing at Bruno with bad intentions. While, Bruno is sweating profusely from the pressure that Draku constantly gives just by gazing at him and got him overthinking.
"Th-this damned peasant! H-how dare him talk to me like that! I'm a noble! I have the privilege and you have not! You're just trash! You deserve to be in the countryside, not here! And I'm going to prove that to you by FLAWLESSLY DEFEATING YO-", his thought was then interrupted by Draku, who just gave him a smirk and began messing with his mind.
"Hey, you're spacing out. Wait, don't tell me you're scared? Am I right, Bruno?", Draku spoke.
"Sh-shut up! How dare you speak to me like that, you filthy insect! Know your place!", Bruno responded.
"I know my place, how about you?", Draku responded.
"You damned PEASANT!", Bruno screamed.
Eventually, the referee then commenced the match and instantly, Bruno casted his Fire Magic in an instant.
"FIRE MAGIC: BLAZING FURY!", he fires a large-scale homing flame ball at Draku and follows it up with a taunt, "WHAT NOW, PEASANT? SPEECHLESS AREN'T YA? WHERE'S THAT TALK NOW-", his trashtalk was then cut off when Draku just deflects it with his right hand and smirks at Bruno and calmly fires at him back.
"Know your place, weak trash."
It then garnered everyone's attention when he just cancelled Bruno's attack with just a single swat of his right hand that he embedded with magic, including the captains.
"Hmmm. It seems we have someone more interesting here than the 4-leaf guy.", Yami spoke.
"I agree.", William responded.
"He just deleted the noble's attack without using his grimoire. What an impressive candidate we have here.", Nozelle thought.
"Keke. That kid is worth sliceable.", Jack spoke.
"This deranged ex-commoner...", Nozelle thought .
Evenrually, Bruno was completely shocked of what just happened and began yammering.
"No way...now way! How was that possible?! I'm a noble...I'm a noble! I'm strong and gifted! But how did that peasant deleted my magic?! How?!", Bruno slowly loses his sanity.
"What are you talking about, idiot?", Draku spoke to him and continued, "Your attack was good for a noble like you but, it's not just on my level.", he spoke with a dominating gaze that made him speechless, and Draku continues his tyranny towards Bruno, "Oh? Now YOU'RE speechless. My, my, karma really hates arrogant fools like you, y'know? Well, better not to talk too much, there's still hundreds of pairs that are waiting for their turn so, let's wrap this up.", he spoke confidently and eventually, he unleashed his grimoire.
"Dragon Reinforcement Magic: Boots of the Night Fury.", he then summoned a pair of black and red magical boots in his legs and his magical aura was felt throughout the arena, and impressed the captains.
"Dragon Magic? ", Charlotte spoke.
"Never heard of it before.", Nozelle followed.
"It must be a rare magic.", Fuegoleon added.
"What an interesting magic, right, Yami?", William spoke.
"Yeah.", Yami responded.
After that, Draku then spoke to a speechless Bruno before he attacked, "Witness, what 'strong' really looks like.", he then launched himself like a bullet and instantly punches him with his bare fists, and began circling hin around and continuously beating him up from head to toe. Then, Draku casted another magic to Bruno, whose will to fight has already vanished and is barely conscious.
"Dragon Brinding Magic: Merlin's Chains.", he then summoned a magical chain that wrapped Bruno entirely and immobilized him completely.
Eventually, Draku would then halt in front of him and charges up his fist for one final attack and screamed.
"TAKE THIS, YOU ARROGANT DUMBASS!!!", Draku then lands a powerful punch to the mouth and broke some of his teeth, ragdolled to the ground and completely out cold. His win would then be followed by a huge roar from the crowd, where almost all of the peasants felt motivated and the nobles felt disgraced and frustrated, as they saw their fellow noble got defeated flawlessly by a peasant. The captains then clapped for him and were really impressed of his skills and talent as a mage. And lastly, Draku sees Yuno smiling for him and felt happy in his duel against Bruno.
"Good grief. What a satisfying win that was. I hope this serves a lesson for every shitty noble in this arena, that he/she should never underestimate someone for who they are!", Draku then looks at Asta, whose eyes are passionately sparkling and is clearly astonished of what he just witnessed.
