Chapter 150: Personnel Change-Interlude
Standing amidst the corpses, Raven decided on his next course of action. Handling this uprising so viciously had minimal effect on the old otaku...he has already firmed his will. Those that threaten his multiverse, and the process of bringing the very thing that gave him happiness to this world, will be dealt with swiftly and without prejudice.
Raven's musings were interrupted by a sudden sound from nearby...
*woosh* *woosh* *woosh*
*rer* *rer* *rer*
Accompanied by the noise, a blue old-school UK telephone booth began to faze into existence....once it left its incorporeal state, solidifying into being, the booth door opened. A fine-dressed upright young man with a spritely walk stepped out and approached Raven.
His walk stilled momentarily at the sight of the bodies, the smell making him scrunch up his nose, and the death of these people making his happy face fall with remorse and displeasure.
The young man's eyes moved to Raven as he continued to approach "....awfully heartless oh great creator, if someone like me can do his job without shedding blood, certainly you can try a little harder...." the downcast young man reproached his creator, rebuke oozing from his voice.
*scoff*
Raven was not insulted by the accusatory statement, deciding to respond in kind..."You suffer from an extreme case of denial and delusion if you believe there is any less blood on your hands...Doctor."
The Time Lord could not formulate a response, as he knew that his creator was telling the truth. He did, however, begin to regret agreeing to take his current position...
"I think I understand why this job opening became vacant, I don't find you particularly enjoyable to work for Creator..."
A small smile graced Raven's lips before speaking..."I created the "Oversight" position when creating this multiverse, the goal was to watch over my creation and essentially function as a spy for me.....Hermaeus Mora performed this job to the letter. He did such a good job that I decided he should be rewarded recently, and he asked that I allow him to return to his original world and become a god there once again...."
"....he is a "God of Knowledge" you see, and working for me, and therefore in my realm, meant there were many things he couldn't know....that caused him great pain, as it was against his nature to be content with not knowing things. So, I created the world of 'Skyrim' and allowed him to function as its main overseer... it's not opened to the public yet, as I've read one of the Holy-Grail War contestant's minds.....and if they end up winning, they will want a personal world of my creation to explore alone before it's opened to the other Travelers. Thus, I can kill two birds with one stone by granting a wish, and pleasing a loyal servant..." Raven supplied more information than was needed to the newest entity that will take up the position of "Oversight/Spy".
Raven created this position so that no matter what, he would always know if something happens in any world he creates, information is power after all.
"....and if you serve me well Doctor, you may also be granted a wish, just like your predecessor...."
The Doctor quickly answered..."how can I not do good work? The conditions you've placed on those beings holding this position are too strict to not fulfill the role...."
"...that may be true, but begrudgingly doing one's job is different than willingly complying. Hermaeus complied as he gained more knowledge through this position, he even went so far as to sit back and watch a little while before reporting situations to me, just to see what would happen. This is the reason why things like this revolutionary uprising could be formed, he wanted to see what would happen.....he only told me when they became a threat or there was information worth my time....which was his job." Raven answered, but as he finished speaking, he saw the light appear in The Doctor's eyes.
"...so, if I am more diligent than my predecessor, I can prevent things like this massacre from happening?" asked the Doctor, seeing hope that he can save more lives.
Raven nodded contently, having the Doctor's personality working in this position is a much better choice than the uncaring and distant Daedaric God.
