Chapter 3: Ruby Heather
The doctors silently continue checking on her condition while trying hard not to disturb Ruby's rest. As soon as they knew she was alright for the time being, they hurriedly excuse themselves. They didn't want to stay any longer with the Heather Family.
It was too scary.
The room returned to its peaceful state. Nobody spoke as they stared at the pale girl laying on the bed. Heather's youngest daughter had beautiful features with sharp eyebrows, enchanting red lips, and a pair of limpid eyes.
They had never thought of it before. However, now that she was right in front of them, everyone truly realized this was their pearl. The precious pearl they had once lost.
Madam Heather choked in tears, "It was my fault.. because of me she wanted to die."
"No! Of course not. It was me who's at fault here."
"Don't blame yourself, okay?"
Master Heather consoled his wife while admonishing himself at the same time. He couldn't bear to see her dejected face.
Guy Heather said in a low, depressing tone, "It was our fault. We had wronged her."
"Yes, you are right big brother."
"That's right. We have finally found our little sister but we neglected her."
Zin and his twin brother, Zayn, chirped in succession. Both of them felt guilty when they heard Guy's lament. After all, they were the ones who fought the hardest with Ruby. Every time they faced each other, they would always spit fire nonstop.
They were originally looking forward to meeting their little sister. But when they finally saw each other they were disappointed. Ruby was like a little frightened cat that would scratch when someone get closer, They thought it was too troublesome and felt their adopted little sister was much sweeter.
The moment they thought that way, they began to speak hurtful things to Ruby without holding back. They also treated her with the coldest attitude.
However, when they got the news of Ruby's suicide, their hearts almost stopped beating. They were overwhelmed with regret.
Fortunately, she was saved. This situation can still be salvaged.
Ruby who was the main character in everyone's mind was flying in her astral body.
Oh, well. Actually, it was her soul.
Ruby's soul was flying without specific direction. She thought that someone was going to pick her up to heaven and the thing before was merely a mistake.
Yes. How could she be alive?
But then, no one came to meet her. Instead, a memory started to play in front of her eyes. Ruby was bored so she decided to linger around while watching this 'film'.
The protagonist of this 'film' was Crystal. A little girl getting adopted by a wealthy family. She was six years old at that time.
The dean said an influential family was coming to adopt her because she was at the same age as their lost daughter. Crystal was happy. She immediately agreed on the spot.
Thus, she was brought back to the Heather family.
At first, she was treated awkwardly by the family members. They were nice but distant.
Crystal had to work so hard until they finally turned into a normal family. They even had this tight relationship like she was the true youngest child of the Heather family.
However, some things began to change when Ruby Heather was found.
The 'film' showed the moment when Ruby Heather came back to the family.
At this point, Ruby's focus was grabbed and she paid attention to this youngest child since they have the same name.
Ruby Heather was an unfortunate child. She was kidnapped at the age of five and sold to work in a village in a remote area.
She went through a lot.
Whether it was a beating, scolding, fasting, she endured it all.
By the time she was brought home, she was mentally and physically exhausted.
She couldn't care less about her surrounding or the people beside her.
In Ruby Heather's heart, everything was the same.
Everyone was a villain.
Nobody really cared about her.
Nobody loved her.
The tired and bleeding heart subconsciously rejected every one.
This was the core reason why she wasn't welcome.
Aside from that, her family was too close to Crystal and too cold to her. She was like a stranger that barged into their life.
She was the weird one.
She was ostracized.
Having lived a hard life then found a little light only to be crushed, Ruby Heather became completely depressed. She turned gloomy and easily irritated which makes everybody hate her.
The Heather family tried to understand her, but also thought that this youngest child was too troublesome. It's too tiring to care for her.
As time went by, no one from the family side with Ruby Heather again. They all chose to maintain a close relationship with Crystal.
That was when Ruby Heather realized.
Ah, she was wrong. She shouldn't have come.
She was never one of their family.
She was the unwanted one.
She had no place here.
She had no home in this cruel world.
Ruby Heather decided to take her life.
The 'film' paused at Ruby Heather's death scene.
Ruby felt so angry she almost vomited blood. Hey!! They have the same name but why does this girl so stupid?
She went from a villager to a princess, had so much money, and had a beautiful face. Yet she still chose to die!
So what if her family doesn't want her? She can form another family!
She had money, either way, she can do whatever she wants.
Even if she was hurt and lonely, at least before she died she should bash them all.
Beat them to the ground and bury their corpse!
Why?
Why are you giving up so easily?
Ruby's blood pressure was so high, she could die for the second time.
While Ruby was still fuming, the 'film' began to play again. However this time, it showed a scene Ruby remembered before she fly to this space.
