Chapter 29: Ch. 29 Have some hope.
A few weeks have passed now and most of the things are still like they were before. Harry and Victoria are still not talking. I mean they were that talkative but Victoria just completely ignores him.
Things are just getting worse among them and I have no idea as to what I can do. Harry doesn't want to see my face and Victoria would shun me if I bring Harry up at any point, so I am pretty much clueless as to what should I do.
On a much brighter note, Hermione is now cured and is sadly no longer a humanoid cat which is very unfortunate. It's honestly a very lost opportunity because I didn't get to pet her at all, even though I visited her every day.
Hermione has asked my help in identifying the monster. I can't reject her because I have told her I would help with anything she asks for. So I now have to pretend to search for a monster that I know exist but can't directly tell her about it she must conclude herself.
We were both in a different section of the library and were knee-deep in the study material. It was mostly books about creatures that could Petrify people,
Hermione said in frustration "Ahh! it's like finding a needle in a haystack."
I corrected her "It's like finding a needle in a stack of needles."
She said "Not funny Jon, we have been working on this for weeks now and we don't have much to show for. How are we supposed to do defeat the monster if we don't even know what it is?"
I smiled and said, "Hey, relax we will find it, we just need to keep trying. Let's just talk about something else to distract ourselves?"
She asked, "What is up with Harry and Victoria?"
I said, "They are fighting over the fact that if I am a good company to have around or not?"
She said "Seriously? There is a monster on the loose and they are fighting over petty things."
I said, "Hey I am not a petty thing I am a human being." She laughed and I asked, "So how is Harry holding up?"
She sighed and said, "He is been a bit more quiet than usual he spends most of the time with a Diary that he found." So harry has found the diary now I mean the end game might be close now.
I then smiled and said, "I guess quiet is better."
She sighed and said, "I don't get it I mean he doesn't like you and you are still concerned over him."
I said, "He may not get it now, but I am just hoping that he can come around and can see me as a friend or an acquaintance at least."
She sighed and said, "How are you so optimistic?"
I said, "One can only hope meowny." She looked angry and threw a book at and I caught it and said "Those are some bad manners meowny, we need to talk about that."
She then said "Fine! you can relax and do your thing while I will do what I do best."
I said sarcastically "Throwing books at people? Cause if so you are bad at that."
She grinned and giggled and walked away and I thought 'They are behind me aren't they' I then turned and I saw them it was Victoria and Daphne and I said: "Oh, hey girls what are you doing here?" I knew I was screwed but teasing meowny was worth it.
Victoria asked, "What are you doing here with Hermione?"
I was about to answer when Daphne said "And what is with the meowny?"
I said "I am helping... Hermione with finding the monster that has been terrorising the school and the meowny stuff is just some light joshing among friends."
They sort of bought it but I was still sort of punished I had to sit on the chair while they both sat on the sofa. Which was not cool. I need to increase my authority otherwise I don't see this ending well for me.
The next day was a quidditch match. And today served as a reminder for me we got the news that Hermione have been petrified and we rushed to her side. When we saw her all of us were sad.
When I came to this world I have always thought that I was in Harry Potter's world I know what happens next, I am the one who can manipulate things in his favour. I saw most of the people as characters that I was fortunate enough to be able to interact with.
But when I saw Hermione lying there in the bed unmoving, it reminded me that this is the reality I live in now, and these are not just characters that had been created for the entertainment of the masses, they are real people.
And I could not bear to see my friend lying in one of those beds, I had the opportunity to finish this even before it could have started but I just couldn't.
Victoria and everyone were at her side when I heard "You!" I turned and saw it was Harry he moved fast and was about to tackle me so I sidestepped and caught him by his collar and threw him outside and locked the door.
And Harry was banging the door begging Ron to open the door and I looked at Ron and said "Please get him away he is disturbing others."
Ron looked reluctant but agreed because he knew everything that had happened between me, Harry and Victoria. He opened the door and stopped Harry and said, "We are coming back when they are not there, she is their friend as well, they have every right to be there."
Harry looked at him and felt betrayed by his friend's actions and his words and took off without him Ron looked at me and nodded and I nodded back. At least some of us need to keep a cool head in situations like this and I knew Ron could do it if he tried and proved me right.
Never in my life in this world, I have felt so sad. Today was truly a sad day. We all were sitting at the fireplace, no one was saying anything everyone was again feeling that dread of being attacked. And I just helplessly watched.
I then looked at my sides and found them, they were on the same boat as me they knew what it was that was attacking the students but can't say anything to anyone otherwise I go to Azkaban on trumped up charges. And no one would be able to help me.

(Harry's Pov)
I am just too tired of this year, first my sister is with a lying cheat and then she ignores me completely for him. I don't know what kind of magic that guy has done on her that she can't see the truth for herself, I just don't understand her at all.
I was coming from seeing Hermione in the Hospital wing when I found a black leather-bound diary I found it in the girl's toilet on the second floor. I took the diary with me to my room. I then opened it and was blank so I scribbled something and it wrote back and it showed me a memory of the past as to who opened it and what was the monster.
I, Hermione and Ron went to Hagrid to talk about it but he refused to say much, so we didn't have much to go on Hermione was still working with Jon trying to find out what the monster is. Honestly, I don't want his help but Hermione insists on it so I have given up on it.
I was at the Quidditch ground and then we heard that the matches were getting cancelled because of the attacks and then Prof. McGonagall came to inform us that Hermione has been petrified.
So we rushed to her side but then I saw him next to her and I was again reminded of what he did and who he is and I flew into a blind rage. I didn't have any control over my emotions
And tackled him but he just threw me out without an effort I banged the door to let me in and after a few moment Ron opened it but he didn't let me enter. He said, "We are coming back when they are not there, she is their friend as well, they have every right to be there."
I couldn't believe that he would take his side on this and I just left. I just don't understand how he is doing all this? It's like he is a parasite sucking all of my happiness away.
Ron caught up with me and said "Harry! wait for me"
I stopped and asked "Why did you took his side?"
Ron said "I didn't take anyone's side, Harry, you just looked at him and flew off the handle. They are also her friends, and you need to control yourself, Harry. You can't act out like this."
I said, "I know it's just that whenever I see his face I just lose it."
Ron said "I get that you don't like him, but we are going to need him."
I was shocked and asked "What!? Why?"
Ron sighed and said "He is the smartest person after Hermione and I don't think I need to remind you how he helped us last year, with you-know-who."
Ron was right but I said, "Fine I will accept his help after we can find nothing on our own." Ron just nodded and then we just went to the library and started to read up on beast.

I just wanted to say that this chapter had two plot points mixed into one the diary part as well as the Hermione getting Petrified part. And I know many of you will complain about the sequence of events and stuff but I am following the movie versions so it is what it is.
