Chapter 2: I'm back
[September 4 2016]
"Happy birthday, sister! Can you please wake up? we really miss you." Qiao Ning Xi heard the voice of a little girl. She was confused, shocked and flustered.
'What? I'm still alive? I don't know if I should be thankful or not.'
Suddenly the little girl's cry grew louder and everyone who heard her felt sorry for her. Qiao Ning Xi wanted to open her eyes but she didn't have the strength to open them. "Hua Hua, Don't cry. I'm sure she'll be okay and it's her fault because she didn't listen to you." a woman's voice was heard by Qiao Ning Xi.
Qiao Ning Xi recognized the woman's voice. If she wasn't mistaken, that voice came from her adoptive mother. Now that she thinks about it the girl's crying earlier was like Qiao Hua's voice but younger.
"Ma'am! I saw Eldest Miss' finger move!" The maid shrieked when she saw Qiao Ning Xi trying to move her hand but instead moved her index finger.
Mrs. Qiao and Qiao Hua were shocked and they immediately called the doctor. After hearing the maid's shriek, Qiao Ning Xi felt that she was gradually losing her consciousness. Moments later, doctors came and examined Qiao Ning Xi. After the examination the doctor confirmed that Qiao Ning Xi will be able to regain her consciousness in a week or so. While Mrs. Qiao was pleased to hear the good news, Qiao Hua was upset after hearing the news because Qiao Ning Xi had not yet died. Qiao Hua bit her nail while thinking of all the possible trouble that Qiao Ning Xi could bring to her.
2 DAYS LATER~
"Are you really fine now sister? I don't think you should be discharged yet. You can stay here in the hospital for a few more days." Qiao Hua held Qiao Ning Xi's hands. Qiao Ning Xi shuddered after hearing Qiao Hua called her 'sister'.
She regain her consciousness a day ago and the first thing she did was to organize her thoughts and adjust herself. She was confused but grateful because God had really given her another chance to start over and live her life.
The situation is that, Qiao Ning Xi died at the age of 15 and when she woke up she turned into her 10 years old self. She was Reborn. She died in her 15th birthday and was reborn at her 10th birthday. She goes back in time when she saved Qiao Hua who almost had a car accident. It happened a month after they were adopted, then she was in a coma for 7 months.
In her past life after she regained her consciousness she could not keep up with her school studies and other studies assigned to her by Mrs. Qiao. Originally, the Qiao Family planned to train and educate both her and Qiao Hua about the things they needed to know as the Eldest Miss and Young Miss of the Qiao Family but due to the accident she was eventually left behind.
She poured all her attention into home schooling for 2 months before she could catch up on school lessons then she went back to school. But when she returned to her school there were rumors about her. The rumors were not that serious but it gave other students bad impression of her.
At first she was depressed but when she saw that Qiao Hua believing her, she just ignored the rumors. But she didn't know that the rumors were getting worse and that Qiao Hua was the one who instigated it.
On the outside, Qiao Hua defends or protects her but on the inside Qiao Hua was making others to hate her more. After the rumors spread many male students made Qiao Hua as their Muse in their hearts because of her kindness and friendliness. Of course, no one knows the true appearance and behavior of Qiao Hua.
She decides to leave Qiao Hua alone if Qiao Hua won't bother her but it was impossible. When they first met after she regained consciousness she could clearly see the hatred in Qiao Hua's eyes. She wonders why she didn't realize it before.
"I'm really fine now. You don't have to worry about me Hua Hua. As the eldest miss of the Qiao family I have to do my responsibilities. I'm really sorry for making you and others worry about me. Also I need to catch up with my studies, I don't want mom and dad to be disappointed. " Qiao Ning Xi was disgusted as she said those words. No one know how much she hates Qiao Hua.
When Qiao Hua heard 'Eldest Miss' the eyes full of care earlier changed for a moment was suddenly filled with loathe and hatred. 'Why? Why? I'm older but why are you the Eldest Miss? I should have that title! ' When Qiao Hua saw Qiao Ning Xi looking at her, her eyes suddenly returned to normal.
Qiao Ning Xi saw everything. She sneered in her mind. She didn't expect Qiao Hua to be such a great actress at a young age. Qiao Hua was able to hide her hatred. Come to think of it she also didn't know that Qiao Hua at the age of 16 could be so cruel and vicious to her. If she were Qiao Hua, she would be filled with guilt of betraying and torturing the person who treated her as a sister.
"I'm glad you're thinking about the family first. I didn't know you could be very filial at a young age. Qiao Hua look at your sister, it's better if you imitate and emulate your sister. You're older than her but all you could think about is making yourself popular. "
Qiao Ning Xi looked at the door when she heard the voice of an old man. At the door stood an old man and an old woman with a couple following behind them.
At a glance Qiao Ning Xi immediately recognized them. They were her adoptive grandfather 'Qiao Jin' and grandmother 'Li Bing' while the couple who followed them were her adoptive mother 'Su Min' and father 'Qiao Jing'. This is the first time she saw them after she came back to life because after she woke up, Qiao Hua with the butler was the only one who visited her.
At first she stared at her grandfather but when she thought of her grandfather's warnings and indifference to her in the past life she could not stop herself from feeling the regret of not listening.
"Ga-grandpa!" she shouted while hugging him.
The old man was surprised because what he remembered was that Qiao Ning Xi was afraid of him that whenever they met she would shut her mouth and could not look into his eyes.
Not only was the old man surprised but others were surprised as well because the Qiao Ning Xi they knew had a weak temperament.
"What happened? Why are you acting like this? Something is wrong?" startled question of the old man. Qiao Ning Xi realized what she had done. She stiffened and immediately thought of a possible reason she could use as an excuse.
"I-I thought I won't be able to see you again." Qiao Ning Xi forced herself to cry while saying this. She didn't think she actually could act.
When he heard her, he was touched. Thinking that his granddaughter was actually thinking about him. "Don't worry I'm here. We should go now, we've booked a restaurant to celebrate your recovery." He patted her head.
When Qiao Hua saw those scenes, she clenched her hand. She could feel every nails of her finger digging into her hand. You could say that the old man didn't favor her or was not even interested at her. She did everything she can to receive his favor but nothing worked.
The old man always wanted to have a granddaughter so when he heard that his son intended to adopt two girls he was really happy. When he first saw Qiao Ning Xi he saw that she has a week character and naive but she was honest. While Qiao Hua was smart but cunning and gives a malicious intent.
In Qiao Ning Xi's previous life the old man warned her about their sister relationship. Then she decided to tell Qiao Hua about it. Qiao Hua told her that the old man was trying to destroy their relationship. She did not doubt Qiao Hua because for her Qiao Hua was her real family.
That day they went to a restaurant and celebrated her recovery. Qiao Ning Xi finds it difficult to hide her hatred for Qiao Hua and her relationship with her grandfather and grandmother has also improved. While she still feels awkward trying to treat Mrs. Qiao as her mother because before, Qiao Hua treated Mrs. Qiao as a mother but she treated Mrs. Qiao with respect and did not dare to cross the line.
At night Qiao Ning Xi was very tired so after taking a bath she fell asleep right away. A lot happened that day and she had to go to school the next day. She begged her grandparents to allow her to go to school.
Qiao Ning Xi woke up at 5 a.m. because she had to go to school from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. She attends a private and well-known school, Gracelle Elementary School.
After Qiao Ning Xi took a bath, her school supplies and uniform were ready. She wore her school uniform, a white blouse for the top with a customized black blazer and a yellow tie which represent her as a 4th grade student. While for the bottom a black and yellow knee-checkered skirt.
She couldn't help but to look at herself in the mirror. Qiao Ning Xi was surprised then pleased seeing that there's no trace of scars yet in her face. She used to be so insecure due to the scars on her face before.
Now looking at her 10 years old self, she doesn't look like a daughter of a wealthy family because of her dark complexion, damaged hairs and her thin body that lacks nutrition.
Staring at her thin body she couldn't help but to sighed. Everyone will look at her as if she is a frail little girl who can be broken with a simple touch.
"I should go down now. I don't know if they're having breakfast already or they're waiting for me." She murmured then decided to go down.
As she was walking down the stair she couldn't help but to be mesmerized after seeing this house. Everything was fasinating, she looked like her younger self when she first step into this house. The house was large for an ordinary family, the white walls were plain but elegant, the stairs were magnificent and the chandeliers perfectly match the house. Everything was clean and organize.
The house reminds her of her previous life and vows that she will change it and live a better life.
She couldn't help but to think about her previous life. She was very happy to be adopted, to have a family, to have a sister who knows her well, and to have a life she just dream before.
As she walks down the stair, she saw Mrs. Qiao and Qiao Hua waiting for her in the dinning table. "Sister, Come sit here!" Qiao Hua pulled Qiao Ning Xi next to her. Qiao Ning Xi smiled at Qiao Hua and said "Good Morning Mom. Good Morning Hua Hua. Where's dad? and How about Grandpa and grandma?"
"Your dad went to the factory and mom & dad went to the doctor to have a monthly check up." Mrs. Qiao said without looking at her. While having breakfast the dining table was quiet except when Qiao Hua talks. After eating, William, the 32 years-old driver send both Qiao Hua and Qiao Ning Xi to Gracelle Elementary School.
"Eldest Miss, Young Miss, We're here. Send a message if you ever need me." Willaim said while opening the backseat door for them. Qiao Hua nodded and said "Thank you, Uncle William."
Qiao Hua pulled Qiao Ning Xi "Sister, let's not reveal that we're sisters unless we really need to, okay?" Qiao Hua asked and Qiao Ning Xi smiled while nodding. Qiao Hua was happy seeing that she was so obedient and she didn't even ask why. Of course Qiao Ning Xi was able to guess why Qiao Hua ask her to hide their relationship.
They were in a different floor Qiao Hua is a student of 5th Grade Class 1 in the 5th floor. While Qiao Ning Xi is a student of 4th Grade Class 4 in the 4th floor. After climbing the stairs and reaching the 4th floor they bid good bye and finally separated. Qiao Ning Xi stopped in front of the Class 4 door and smiled. Even though she's smiling you will be able to see the coldness in her eyes. Then said.
"I'm back"
