Chapter 3: OUT OF YOUR CZ
After my writing sessions there was no time left to relax. When I write, time flies. I walked to the kitchen and made pancakes for breakfast.
" Leah, wake up, it's time for school." I called out from the kitchen.
She came running from her room and shouted "Tadaa" in her cute baby voice.
" Oh,look who is already ready for school!"
She was already in her uniform and only thing left was to tie up her hair in two ponies.
She had a comb and two bands in her hand.
" Aren't you the little silent rat! I didn't hear you waking up, there wasn't a single sound from your room."
She giggled and spoke , " I wanted to surprise you and see, it worked."
I took the comb and band from her hand and turned her tiny little body to the opposite side to tie up her hair.
She always sings while I work with her hair.
" Come have your pancakes."
Our parents died in a car accident, she was just one year old back then.
Now she is five, a big girl who can do her daily chores by herself. Leah is the most adjustable girl I've seen in my life. She adjusted with the quick changes so well and never made me struggle. We were so rich back then. Not the wealthiest in the town but still we were financially stable and happy. Good that our parents worked hard for us, only because of that me and my sister can live without begging to anyone for money. Our aunt and neighbor 'Kylie' comes by and make us food. Yesterday she went to her sister's house. Those days when she is not in town, we buy food from restaurants.
" Lijah ,it's already time for school. They must be waiting for me" Leah said from the table.
"Oh sorry ma'am, please take your bags and come out."
I locked the house and took my cycle.
" Bye bye " Leah said and walked with her friends.
I rode to the school. Once I reached there, the first person I looked for was Amanda Willson. I spotted her sitting all alone in a corner of the canteen.
I took my seat on the chair opposite to her.
" Hello" I spoke.
She remained silent and took another sip from her coffee.
The bell rang at the exact moment and she walked to class. I sat there for another minute and headed to my class. When I entered, Amanda was already seated and was ready with her books.
Our geography sir came in and wrote something on the board with his marker. I tilted my head towards right to see what he wrote, it was ' Out of your CZ ' .
" Students, ' Out of your comfort zone ' is a new assignment for you to work on. You have to visit as many interesting places as possible in the city with your team partner and prepare a chart about it. I think it's better to work in two's for this project. So everyone, all the best with your project."
" Sir, can we chose our partner?" I asked.
" Yes you may." he replied and continued with his lectures.
Amanda took over my heart at that moment. I wanted her as my partner so badly. I will show her what the world is about and all the reasons to be happy and to stay alive. She shouldn't put a full stop to her life only because her brother died, she deserves to be happy and have a life!
