Chapter 42: Chapter 2377 A Draw
The 2 moves obviously came from Spectral Soul and Star Constellation.
Since Giant Sun had already used his strongest piece the other 2 Venerables were forced to use their own Rank 7 moves.
Although they did not like being forced, the circumstances did not allow them much leeway for negotiation.
If Chicken Dog Coop rejoined the fight with all the Chicken Beast it had accrued throughout its imprisonment, the tides of battle would shift largely in Fang Yuan's favor.
Both Star Constellation and Spectral Soul did not want that to happen.
Thus, the former enemies put aside their differences for a cooperated attack.
Star Constellation's Rank 7 Killer Move, Distracting Thoughts, made it difficult for Gu Immortals to use their Thoughts for constructive things such as Killer Moves.
Instead, they would be immersed in the sights and sounds of their environment.
But since its power was limited to Rank 7 Star Constellation targeted only Fang Gong, as he was Rank 8.
She knew it would not hold him down for long, but it was just long enough that he could not create a Defensive Killer Move against Spectral Soul's Soul Torrent Killer Move.
Which focused on erosion.
The move targeted the Soul's of the Chicken Beast, the Soul's of the Gu Immortal's and the Enslavement Path features of Chicken Dog Coop.
It wore down the Soul Brand on the Chicken Beast, and the Enslavement capabilities of Chicken Dog Coop, while also weaking the Rank 7 Gu Immortals in charge.
This caused the Chicken Beasts to break free and began attacking the Chicken Dog Coop.
Fang Gong had managed to break out of Star Constellation's Distracting Thoughts and used a Defensive Killer Move, but only for himself.
He quickly jumped into the fray of Chicken Beasts to prevent significant damage to Chicken Dog Coop, while the Rank 7s tried desperately to regain control.
Of course, the Anti-Great Love Alliance did not let such a wonderful opportunity go to waste.
They began bombarding the Chicken Dog Coop with Killer Moves.
"*Sigh*" Fang Gong had no choice but to block those moves himself as he left the Gu Immortals within to try and suppress the Chicken Beast.
Inside Myriad Year Flying Warship,
"Dammit," Shen Shang was cursing to himself.
The situation was no longer advantageous to them.
Nightmare Castle's trick had been exposed making it nearly useless, while Fallen Flower Hall had to spend its time protecting it.
Dragon Palace was being tightly monitored by 3 long-range Gu Immortals, while Chicken Dog Coop was also facing attacks.
Myriad Year Flying Warship was also being held back.
"Tch, I wanted to save Immortal Essence, but I guess I have no choice," Shen Shang hesitantly activated one of Myriad Year Flying Warship's signature move.
Immortal Killer Move ----------- Myriad Year Hunting!
This move was used in the Fate Wars and caused huge troubles for Heavenly Court.
It called forth a large number of Year Beasts, with Desolate and Ancient Year Beasts taking up the majority and a not insignificant number of Immemorial Year Beasts as well.
While everyone here was an expert who could fight Immemorial Beasts, fighting not just one but multiple all while a giant horde was viciously attacking under the control of a human, was too much for the Anti-Great Love Alliance.
"Oh, Shit! Run!"
"I forgot about this move of Fang Yuan's!"
Amidst the panic, one person was calmly calculating.
"Why did he wait so long," Fairy Zi Wei saw something off about this version of the Myriad Year Hunting.
"It seems that there are not as many beasts as last time. Is that a limitation of the repairs of Myriad Year Flying Ship or due to Fang Yuan overfishing from the River of Time?"
Fairy Zi Wei was onto something!
She did not know that right now the River of Time was so turbulent that it was impossible for Year Beast to swim freely, they were often swept away by the currents and dragged into the future, beyond Fang Yuan's reach.
The only thing that allowed him to catch Year Beasts was the Rank 9 Time Anchors he had set up across the River of Time at set intervals.
He had created a small channel that had calm and steady waters, coupled with the Years Flow Like Water Gu, which made it a very attractive spot for Year Beasts.
Thus, Fang Yuan was able to capture quite the number, although compared to the full River of Time it was like a drop of water in the ocean.
Nevertheless, they still provided enough manpower to help turn the tides back into the Great Love Alliance's favor.
But Shen Shang knew this wouldn't last: "Summoning the Year Beast drained quite a lot of our reserves and keeping them, all controlled is placing a large burden on our reserves as well, soon we will have to supply the Essence ourselves but…"
Shen Shang knew that between only him, Fang Gong, and Shen Cong Sheng, there was nowhere near enough to keep all the Gu Houses powered.
On his hand, he held four small black orbs: "Is it time...?"
As the Year Beast began giving the Anti-Great Love Alliance trouble Fairy Zi Wei called out:
"Regroup now! They must be running on fumes to be desperate enough to summon so many beasts, their group is primarily made up of Rank 7s with only 3 Rank 8s stuck on this floor. If we regroup and hold a defensive retreat, we can stall them out."
The Anti-Great Love Alliance all nodded in agreement as they cautiously backed away from the enemy while kiting them.
Seeing this Shen Shang sighed: "Haiz, as expected of the Wisdom Path cultivator in charge during the Fate War, she managed to hold out against the plot of Fang Yuan and 6 Venerables."
Indeed, had they chosen to fight to the death it would have most assuredly been a more profitable battle for the Great Love Alliance.
After all, their methods were largely in their Gu Houses which were machines of great power but also great rigidity.
There was only so much a Gu House could do and pursuing them as they retreated across the floor would have consumed a large amount of Immortal Essence.
Not to mention that the enemy could keep launching Killer Moves at them, while they had no choice but to charge through.
This would wear them out even more.
Truly, the mark of a Wisdom Path Grandmaster, able to precisely determine the weakness of the enemy and make plans around it.
Shen Shang ordered the Great Love Alliance to retreat as well.
Both sides ended their battle with losses.
The Great Love Alliance had lost nearly 45% of their total Immortal Essence reserve, with most of it being consumed by Myriad Year Flying Warship.
In the future, The Great Love Alliance had to reduce the number of Gu Houses it was going to use.
Meanwhile, The Anti-Great Love Alliance had also used up quite a lot of their own Immortal Essence as well, though they were in a much better state than The Great Love Alliance.
However, that wasn't to say that they walked away without a cost.
Throughout that whole encounter, the Venerable had played no small role in their survival against Fang Yuan's trump cards.
Star Constellation used all her Pawns, 4 Minor Pieces, Knights and Bishops, and 1 Rook.
While Giant Sun, used all his Pawns, 4 Minor Pieces, and his Queen.
Spectral Soul had used all his Pawns, 4 Minor Pieces, and a Rook.
This meant that the person with the most pieces was currently, Fang Yuan!
But looking at Fang Yuan now…
*Grumble*
His eyes were sunken in, and his hands were clenching onto his stomach.
A look of madness could be seen in his eyes.
The Venerables began to keep their guard up worried that Fang Yuan would try a sneak attack.
Fang Yuan of course ignored all of it and had his eyes glued on the board: "Hehe, just a little bit more it's coming soon," Fang Yuan smirked.
As both sides started to recuperate the Venerables decided to pay attention to the Path of Ascension.
Within the 3rd Floor was a maze of Fog, every crossroad led to a Predicament, forcing the Gu Immortals to fight them.
Zhan Bu Du encountered a rather strong Predicament: "Hmm, I wonder if,"
He let the predicament swallow him!
In the <Legends Of Ren Zu>
It is stated that Ability Gu would grow with Tribulations.
Fang Yuan found that Heavenly Tribulations did not work and would damage Ability Gu instead-but apart from Heavenly Tribulations there were no other forms of Tribulations except Predicaments!
So Fang Yuan wanted to test his theory.
And as expected once he brought out Ability Gu it began to attract the Tribulations within the Predicament, but in doing so it sustained injuries also.
Zhan Bu Du had the main body's attainments and quickly mended Ability Gu, noticing that it had a slightly stronger aura.
"How interesting, it seems that Heavenly Tribulations cannot raise one's ability only the Tribulations of Predicaments, maybe that's what Ren Zu was alluding to."
Now that Zhan Bu Du had confirmed that Ability Gu could be refined through this method, he continued his path.
He would not forget the main objective of coming to the Myriad Beast Fusion Color Heaven, obtaining the Grotto Heaven for the Main body!
Things such as power, Gu, reputation, etc… were all only tools to Fang Yuan.
What truly mattered was eternal life!
Fang Yuan was willing to give up Immortal Gu as if they were candy and sacrifice Secluded Domains of Heaven and Earth just to walk one step more.
Even though a Rank 9 Ability Gu would help greatly what was more important was keeping the Immortal Sovereign Fetus Gu alive!
Of course, Fang Yuan was willing to give that up as well if it came down to it but right now it was providing him the biggest benefit and a glimpse of what Eternity could look like.
Naturally, he would try his best to preserve it.
Zhan Bu Du soon emerged from the Fog and continued his Ascent.
As Zhan Bu Du exited the Fog, Hei Lou Lan had used the surge of power Giant Sun had given her to rush up into the 3rd Floor.
Instead of seeing a maze, all she saw was a flat and desolate floor just like Floor 2, however, what was peculiar was the Gu Immortals present walking in zig-zag patterns, occasionally stopping to do battle with some invisible enemy.
Hei Lou Lan wondered if there was some invisible maze, she put her hands forward as she tried to feel her way across the floor, but she encountered no resistance.
"Strange? What's happening it seems that everyone else is hindered by some kind of maze, they don't even seem to notice me in front of them."
Hei Lou Lan was debating between continuing forward or reducing the competition right here and now!
But somehow her heartfelt no great desire to fight these people: "Hmph, what kind of expert would take such a cheap advantage." She held disdain at the idea and continued on her path, this time rushing with full force to the end of the platform.
As she was rushing the aura of a Gu began to follow her.
This caught the attention of the Venerables, but strangely the Fog seemed to block the Gu's aura from the participants.
Hei Lou Lan stopped to receive the Gu: "Hmm, what Gu is this? It's actually a Rank 8 Gu! I should refine it and ask ancestor later."
The Gu gave off the aura of Human Path and was shaped as a token with a mighty symbol written on it.
"Oh? It's the legendary Authority Gu." Giant Sun called out.
He had been paying close attention to Hei Lou Lan and noticed the Gu the moment she obtained it.
But this made him question Reckless's intentions.
"Hmph, I've been tricked once by Reputation Gu but it was also due to Reckless's help that she managed to fool me."
Back when Reputation Gu took on the form of Reckless Savage Demon Venerable it was only possible due to him!
In fact, her being born with a Gu Immortal was also due to Reckless's method.
After all, as a Gu she had no way of doing any of this on her own, it was all thanks to Reckless Demon Savage.
This truth was only known by Giant Sun and Fang Yuan, hence why Giant Sun wanted Hei Lou Lan to claim the Myriad Beast Fusion Color Heaven.
Partly to raise her strength but also partly to gain more insight into Reckless's plan.
