Chapter 2: I'm a mythical beast?
Ugh, my body feels weird. It's like I'm underwater constantly but still somehow getting my nutrients. Wait before I even think about that, why am I still alive?
I mean, I know I died in the hospital bed.
Unless I somehow survived, but if that is so, why can't I move? I've been here for months and just recently I could finally think without just falling asleep.
As he was complaining about his life circumstances, he noticed that his body was getting pushed out of something. No matter how much he struggled, he couldn't fight later, succumbing to fatigue, as he let whatever force was pulling him in that direction. A few minutes went by. as he tried to open his eyes, and he immediately shut them. as he felt immense pain from his retinas, he made a weak cry. A cry was heard and was responded to with a light tug. This being that acted as a " true beast"
Ah, what was this feeling like? I felt calm the second something touched me. But do I have to say it is hairy like I don't know if it ever heard or shaving or something like that, but it seriously needed it. I should be able to open my eyes again, uh, here goes nothing …. What the fuck is that! , a saber tooth or something, why is it so damn big? I don't understand where I am and why I feel different for some reason.
Is it hell or is it heaven? If you consider it, I will say I was more of a neutral-based person, is that stuff even real, ah. I want to piss myself. Ok, calm down, think this through.
As I checked my hands, they weren't hands. It was paws. um, what?
I noticed that I am not human. I took that chance to quickly look over my surroundings and I noticed that we were near the mountains.
" Hello little one, you're pretty unique huh."
Her voice vibrated as if it was threatening to destroy the earth beneath us. As if noticing my displeasure at an unfamiliar sight, she got up suddenly, and I then felt a heavy rush of wind. I tried to run away but to no avail, as I was gently put on her back along with 4 of my siblings. For some reason, I can tell their gender apart-.
With one powerful push of her hind legs. The mother did not hesitate as she jumped so high that we crossed the mountains to an open plain where there was a forest near it. Unable to hide my curiosity, I quickly asked.
(Josiah):" What are we?"
Hearing this she lightly chuckled, but even that shook the air around us, then took a pause, then somehow, speaking without moving, her mouth just opened it slightly.
(Algid):" You a curious one, huh? Well, I guess I can answer that, Haha, my name is Algid. The bearer of the cold and a true beast"
Hearing her voice somehow vibrated not from my ears but somehow inside of me, but I still understood it. Shockingly, she is an animal that I have never heard of, nor have I ever seen a creature so big and frightening yet beautiful as if she genuinely believes she is above everyone and everything.
(Josiah): " What is a true beast, and… am I also one.?"
Each leg as it went down, creating a gust of wind underneath it, she noticed one of my irritable siblings almost falling. She still somehow disobeyed the laws of physics as a gust of frigid air touched the newborn's hairless body.
(Algid): " A true beast is one of the first beings, as there are others such as divine dragons and some other mythical beings. it happened when the universe first came into being, and as it cools down and galaxies were being formed, we were created with the leftovers, and it was spread all over the cosmos."
Woah, hold on there. It's too much to handle here, wait. So, I'm part of a mythical being, ugh, why can't I be a dragon, but I digress. They were created from the universe's big bangs of energy. Or was it something else? I did notice the air moving in strange ways that are her doing so. ....
(Josiah): "Is their magic in this world"
Her slit eyes were shown in all its glory, as a golden pupil was showing as she was in surprise. How on Argus did he even know that? Does he have a skill that gives him information?
(Algid): "How do you know about that little one?"
(Josiah): "Um, what if I told you I was from another world, would you believe me?"
(Algid): " No, because a soul cannot go into another body where a soul is already established, but if you don't want to tell me that's fine although it does hurt your poor mother's heart, I still admire your pursuit for knowledge."
But that is the truth, is it that unbelievable? Oh, don't tell me I'm the first one to ever do It does that mean I'm like the main character, nope, otherwise I would have been born again as a human. And the soul is how we are communicating with each other. But before I could finish my thoughts, her voice rang out to my soul.
(Algid): " Magic is in this world, although in some parts of the universe magic doesn't exist and souls don't either but once you have a soul you can't live without it."
Ah, that makes sense I don't think I had a soul before but now that I have one if it gets destroyed, I die.
(Algid): " billions of years ago a divine dragon noticed how unique some properties were as he kept on studying it he noticed that if you use this force you can manipulate some things that special property he called it magic, in your body you just how to formulate it in your head as a form of runes then when you complete that try and imagine then condense it as magic power the spread it and use it as mana there you can force the natural forces to do your bidding. Of course, I'm oversimplifying it as there is no point of telling you if you don't understand, there is a lot more and more that would get confusing for you for now."
Oh, so normal magic, but magic runes or is it just at first to connect your body? Hmm, I would imagine the case being that it is trying to force the mana collected in your body and expel it to do whatever you want to do.
(Josiah) "So do I have an affinity or like how can I use it"
She thought for a second, then laughed, a slight one. But it was still enough to scare every bird in the vicinity.
(Algid) " I already did it when you were just born along with your siblings. Since you came from me your natural affinity is water and maybe if you learn how to slow things down and make it colder ice. We can start practicing after you learn some other things."
As she said that she dropped all the beasts to the ground, then she spoke some outrageous things.
(Algid): "Ok go and hunt try not to die have fun, oh and watch out there some dangerous creatures"
What! Why are we just going to hunt just like that? I mean, I don't even have fur on my skin. But even when I tried to protest, I shut it down.
(Algid): "If you can't even do this you don't deserve to be alive."
Well, that's an extreme way of putting it! But even so, we could do anything as we felt the air around us click and crackle, so we still proceeded to the insides of the forest.
I have 5 siblings and I am the fourth youngest. While we were walking to prey, I asked what I should call them. They looked confused, pondered, then looked at each other.
(???) " Hehe very well then since you asked, I grant you the permission to call me Sarrs."
The one who spoke out was the oldest of the five true beasts puffing out his chest as if wanting others to congratulate him. His still-growing canine glistened in the sunlight.
" Woah big bro has such a cool name, here I thought of my name too. Sierra is what I shall be known as from now on."
The second sibling spoke out, her face turning smug for no apparent reason.
The third oldest is quiet and hadn't said a peep like can't even feel her presence. She noticed that they were staring at her. she sighed, then she spoke out
"Pharaoh."
Quick and precise, I guess. But guess what? Yes, it's my turn, but should I create a new name. I mean, there is nothing wrong with my old name, so there is no reason I can't use it in this world.
(Josiah): "call me Josiah."
All of them nodded once.
Finally, the last one, the one that almost fell down my mother's back. The hyper one.
(Josiah) " You're the last one, we are almost at our destination. I can smell someone near hurry up."
"Hmm, I can't think of anything. Somebody quick names me"
Ugh, I can already see what kind of person he is. But fine, let's think of a random name um… Max, yes, max
(Josiah) " ok but don't complain if you don't like it but I dub your max."
(Max)" Max, huh. I like it."
"gugugugugugugu!."
The animal's voice sounded like a person underwater, trying to breathe but failing immensely. Ah, how irritating it found us first.
(Josiah) "everyone crouch and control your breathing."
Although I whispered that as if I were like this brave hunter. But deep inside I was scared shitless.
All five of us kept on crouching towards our "prey", as we kept on going, we noticed this abomination. This thing was like giant goo that looked dirty. Wait, how did it even find us, it doesn't have eyes. Oh shit, it might be able to see our heat.
"guuuuuu!."
Before I could even alert the other, it swung his tentacles at us, dissolving the trees that it even stood in his way by the time they noticed it was too late. Our reaction speed was too slow, it grazed us, but even then, it was enough.
Max ran it first, as his wound was healing. He then tried swinging at the slime but instead felt a tingling sensation as the hand that touched the slime was dissolving into liquid goo.
"Agghhhh"
It took a second for him to even register what had happened. But when he did, he made a screeching cry. You could see the bone marrow protruding out, drops of blood overflowing, if you looked close enough, you could see some of the leftover slimes as it was corrupting him.
(Sarrs): " Max get out of the way now!"
His yelling got us out in a daze as he jumped to push his little brother out of danger. But he instead took the hit. but since we were just born, he took heavy damage, as we hadn't even grown our fur yet, nor do we have diamond-like skin and muscles. So, when he got hit in the lower part of his stomach, he yelped, it was horrifying too much. But even so, he still followed the light and didn't die.
Why are we here, why are we being forced to hunt, how is our luck so trash?
While I was cursing at everything going on, Sarrs couldn't handle the pain. as he passed out. How lucky. But I knew I had to do something, otherwise, he's going to die.
So, I told Sierra to throw a rock that was near us, and I would try to hit it with a branch. She was still scared, stiff, so she hesitated.
(Josiah): " if you don't, he will die. Thankfully, he is healing quick enough to be fatal but right he can't move. You don't want him to die, do you.?"
She looked at me for a second, then nodded while she started to run to the nearest rock, then used her legs to kick it up, then used her paws to smack it at him.
(Sierra): "roaaar!'
She tried to give her best menacing roar, but she failed badly. Nonetheless, the "roar" caught its attention.
While she was getting chased, I told Pharaoh to take the two to safety, so while I tried and fight it.
Oh, she's already there, huh, um, ok ….
So, I proceeded with my half-baked plan. What should I use, if I used my legs, it would harm me and I doubt I could hurt him anyway, so the best thing I need to do is grab a stick or something?
Then another problem is how am I going to grab it I do have a tail and it is dexterous though I'm not good at using it. But it should be enough to grab a big stick.
Where is it, come on just one, ah, ok? I found a stick. I got to get back. I don't know how long she can last. But I have this eerie feeling she is on her last bit of stamina. I just hope I can get there fast enough.
Josiah was running the best he could but was hindered by the piece of wood as he couldn't properly maneuver through the forest. It was easy to try and locate those too, as whenever the slime went to destruction it followed with it, and it is in a forest too. So, you could see trees on the left and right sides getting corroded and slanted. In the middle of the mess was a cleaner slate of place, as mainly only the stuff there has corroded.
Josiah ran and ran until he saw a little cub trip and fall as she was trying to dodge the onslaught, but still failing miserably. You could see the insides of her shoulder as whenever she tried to move her bones popped, a little, blood was leaking out, her left eye stopped opening as Josiah knew that one more hit would kill her, so he rushed to the slime. Then slammed the stick on the slime's body

The stick melted as it reached contact. He knew he had messed up but couldn't think right as he was panicking way too much. Never in his 70 years of living has required to do this.
The slime looked at him as if mocking him Then swung one of his tentacles.
Josiah quickly reacted as he jumped. When he looked down, he saw the tree behind him melt. He knew he had to run
But the slime wouldn't let him do it as he threw an acid ball from his own body. It hit Josiah's hind legs, making him tumble as he started to scream.
He had never felt this horrendous pain before, it felt like a grater was being used on his skin as the acid kept on eating at him. He went on his back. Wondering if he is going to die again. He can't die. He still has so much to do, so much to see. He can't die to a stupid slime if only I could just push him off.
The slime got close, then swung once. Josiah saw this, as the panic. He then threw out his front legs, and the slime saw this as a challenge, as it used its full force.
Josiah's soul was burning if you wanted an example, it was like a computer playing a game too much for its specs, but it.
But it reached a point where it stopped and cooled down.

The slime's body was splattered everywhere as the rest of the woods dissolved, animals getting corroded during this as they screamed the last scream.
As for Josiah when it happened, he felt a massive wave of information flood his brain it hurt so bad that it could only be described as a fridge landing on a watermelon, an unknown number of atoms were visible as he tried to push them in a weird but unbeknown to him, he messed up even though ultimately, he did succeed. In a second, he felt his body vibrate for a second, then the slime explodes, but nothing touched him.
He looked at this scene stupefied, wondering what had just happened. While he was in awe, he felt something was missing, but he couldn't find out what. He looked around, then he heard something drip and he smelled a smell that he had been smelling all day. Blood.
He looked down, and when he didn't, he saw his front legs mangled up, he could see his leg bruised, bones all over the place as it mangled up and down as if something were attracting it.
Seeing this view, he screamed. A pain that was never felt before, his body crying out to him. He was wondering if he was going to die. The migraine persisted to the point he vomited. blood and vomit repeatedly. He wanted the pain to go away. He even contemplated suicide, but suddenly his sight all went black.
