Chapter 14: Above my level

The sounds of battling could be heard from all around the village, accompanied by many sorrowful cries of those who lost their loved ones. The smell of iron was strong, as there was almost a mountain of bloodshed from both the men and beasts.

"Huff...Huff..."Gary began to pant in exhaustion, too injured to move. Currently, he was almost half dead but surprisingly conscious as he watched Kevin, the one who saved him about to engage in combat with the Yemen.

Despite Kevin's confident attitude, he was quite worried about using his magic. What if he fainted during the fight? The pain he felt when using magic was not at all pleasant, it began to make him wonder what was wrong with him? Even Lilith was able to utilize it without feeling an ounce of pain...or so he thought.

'Even him.' Kevin thought looking at Gary who was lying on the floor.

"Tch, another ant will not make a difference."The yeti scoffed.

Bending its legs, it leaped into the air before raising its arms planning to smash Kevin, killing him in one strike.

"That is the same tactic the other one used as well," Kevin muttered while performing a backflip before the attack made contact with the ground, successfully evading.

Kicking off the ground, Kevin bypassed the yeti wanting to strike the abdomen.

"A normal punch will not do shi-" The sentence was abruptly stopped by the stinging pain it felt, as it backed away vomiting out various liquids.

Just right before Kevin struck it, he activated his magic which caused the stinging feeling. Using this method was less likely to harm him.

'Even if I cannot use magic fully, I can still activate it right before the attack lands.' Kevin thought, amazed by his brilliance. Just like planned he could hardly feel any pain.

Kevin patiently waited for the Yemen to throw up, as he did not want to dirty himself in vomit.

Finishing up, the beast glanced at Kevin with bloodshot eyes before casting an ice spike within its palm and then throwing it at him.

'To dodge, I am going to need to use all my magic.' Kevin worriedly thought as lightning began to flicker around him.

"Kevin!" A familiar female voice shouted.

Before Kevin even moved, an ice wall was erected between them, separating both Kevin and the beast. Switching its gaze to behind him, Angela ran to him, seemingly covered in sweat showing how far she traveled, even in the cold weather. It was almost as if the cold did not affect her.

"Let me help!" Angela insisted. "I will assist while you engage in direct combat."

Kevin thought about it, although she used the ice element, an element Lilith never mentioned, he was not perfectly sure how to utilize her.

'Was there not only seven elements? Did Lilith omit ice?' Kevin quickly discarded the thought, seeing as how now was not the best time to think about it.

He decided in working with Angela, there were no disadvantages plus, he could prevent harming himself with his magic.

"Alright!" Kevin agreed while stretching his arm trying to give Angela a fist bump.

Upon seeing this, Angela could not help but release a faint laugh. She was worried for her village because they resisted when Norm planned to take her but seeing Kevin's attitude lightened up hers as well.

"Yeah! Let's do it!" Angela said returning the fist bump with a wide smile that displayed her sparkling white teeth.

Thud! Thud! Like an enraged beast, the Yemen continuously hit the ice wall until it cracked, eventually falling apart. Chunks of ice flew around as Kevin got ready.

"Its skin is hard, use this," Angela suggested forming an object within her palms. Seeing the final product, Kevin's eyes lit up.

Angela created a sword made of ice that looked nearly identical to the one he used in the sparring match.

"Thanks," Kevin said, taking the sword and charging in.

The beast, already annoyed, was not going to lie down waiting for Kevin to strike it. Turning its waists along the way, it threw out a punch capable of ending a life.

Unexpectedly, an ice spike pierced through its arm before the punch could connect. The Yemen's eyes wandered around falling on Angela, the only ice user in the village.

"You really should not look away," Kevin said raising his sword.

Kevin's sword skills were very poor as well as his fighting technique. But, even he was able to use it to strike. Grabbing the sword lightly, Kevin sliced through the impaled arm, dividing it into two. It was a rather gruesome scene, blood gushed out from the sliced arm revealing some bones and muscles.

"AAAAAAH" The beast let out a scream.

Instinctively, it covered its left hand in ice, punching Kevin away. Luckily, he blocked by using the blade but was still pushed back.

" I do not care anymore! I will kill both of you!" The Yemen cried out, staring daggers at Angela, sending chills down her spine.

Stomping its foot on the ground, an ice pillar launched Kevin into the air. Winds blew against his face as he began to fall. However, the Yemen was not going to allow him to land safely.

Pulling its fist out, it patiently waited for Kevin to reach its height before throwing a massive punch.

"oh, crap!"Kevin cursed out, attempting to block with the sword while mid-air.

To his surprise, under the intense strength, the sword shattered leaving Kevin to fly through buildings.

"AAARGH," The beast let out a cry in agony from his wound. Now that Kevin was disposed of he could now deal with other matters. His gaze switched to Angela, directing insense murderous intent towards her.

Norm ordered for her to be taken alive, but now under the influence of pain, it could care less. He could always say it was an accident.

'Why did the boy barely use magic?' Gary who was on the floor asked himself. He knew firsthand how strong it was, yet he barely used it. Maybe he was out of Mana?

Dealing with the pain, the beast walked towards Angela who was petrified. Although her magic was strong, she was more of a supporting character than a fighter. After seeing what happened to Kevin, she was too terrified to move.

"Time to die, "The Yemen said stretching its only intact arm to Angela.

ZZZZZ!

"I am not done..."Kevin shouted with blood dropping from his head while being covered in bruises. Lightning violently flickered around him.

Using an ice shard he picked from the ground, he swiftly slashed at the beast's hand, cutting off two fingers.

"The fight has just begun!"
