Chapter 211: Death from below
With a splash, both Pokémon launched themselves into the water. They zoomed across the pool, swimming circles around each other from a safe distance. Like a giant lizard, Feraligatr slithered, propelling himself forward using his tail that made up half his body length.
Samurott used his long limbs to grab at the water, pulling himself through using its sharp horn to pierce a hole through the majority of the resistance.
{It almost seems like a dance,} Elesa said, her gaze locked on the two circling Pokémon below.
[It's hard to decide when to go in since the one on defence has more time to determine how to counter, the first one to move is much more susceptible to failure and subsequently takes much more damage.] James explained, enlightening the audience as their impatience began to build up.
Blossom and Alex understood this point which was why they were struggling to find an opening.
"Six-point Crunch! GO!" Alex yelled suddenly, causing the crowd to instantly burst into thundering applause.
Blossom's smile faded as the battle had finally begun. She watched as the hulking 5-meter-long Feraligatr swiftly sped towards Samurott. 'A little closer… more… more… now!' "Use ice beam in front of you, then use trump card!" She yelled.
A low howl caused the water to vibrate intensely as Samurott leapt into action, barrelling towards Feraligatr furiously. Blossom and her ace had been together since they were little. They had been through dozens of tribulations, rarely losing a battle and never losing against the same person twice. That was their motto, and it had earned them hundreds of fans.
This culminated in an unconscious connection between the two, mixed with experienced, allowing them to know what the other was thinking. Then, just as the two were about to collide, Samurott opened his mouth and spat a beam of chilling ice that froze the water right in front of Feraligatr.
The ice quickly spread towards Feraligatr's body, encapsulating him in a thin film of ice. However, Samurott didn't stop, instead speeding up and colliding with his opponent, sending his sharp horn directly towards Feraligatr.
Crack BOOM!
The ice shattered before a second explosion sent Feraligatr flying out of the water briefly before landing back in and sinking to the bottom.
There was no happiness on Blossom's or Samurott's faces as their bodies were slowly engulfed by a bright red light.
"Use Giga impact!" Alex yelled, punching the air.
With tremendous speed, the seemingly sleeping tyrant finally moved again as the red light mixed with the powerful and purely devastating white hue. Steam was emitted from the watered surface as it began to bubble and churn.
Feraligatr's eyes turned red as it exploded from the bottom of the pool, cracking the tiles as it shot upwards like a bullet.
"Double team and aqua jet!" Blossom retaliated calmly.
Samurott instantly split into dozens of copies and immediately became a cloud of shelled stars as they swam in an anti-clockwise direction, causing a whirlpool to form. Then, like a drain, it pulled down the speeding Feraligatr as it tore through the first couple of copies.
"If we can't go up, we go down, hit the floor!" Alex commanded almost instantly.
Feraligatr immediately changed direction, letting himself get pulled momentarily to swiftly change directions before following the current and colliding with the pool floor instantly. There was no time to react; the blast sent water everywhere.
Alex's eyes shone brightly in that instant.
"Use blizzard into howl! GO!" He yelled energetically.
Blossom's brows furrowed, "use razor shell to defend!"
Clear of water, Feraligatr roared to the sky as a blast of sub-zero air was ejected from his entire body, instantly freezing the blobs of water still airborne. But it didn't stop there. A second more primal roar that deafened the audience echoed out unimpeded, like a torrential thunderstorm, the shards of ice shot out in all directions like spines from a porcupine.
Samurott had little to no time to respond, constantly on the back foot as it struggled to deflect all of the shards with the long blue sword he made from water. "Hyperbeam!" she yelled.
BZZZZZZ!
Without a moment's delay, the stadium was silenced by the frightening sound of Samurott charging up a massive ball of light in his mouth. Then, the ice began to melt at fast speeds before dissipating into steam altogether.
BOOOOOM!
The beam exploded forth with such force that the air crackled with sonic booms, and barriers sizzled as they flashed various colours.
Time seemed to slow down as the beam landed on Feraligatr. Only then did the audience realise that no command was given by Alex. Looks of horror arose on the faces of his fans. For the first time, Trix looked on silently, deathly silent, the torn-off corner of her armrest gripped tightly between her fingers as she watched on.
"Feraligatr… Bide," no one heard it over the sound of the battlefield being decimated, yet no one else needed to hear it, only one. The lights around the stadium flickered, causing surprised gasps to escape from some of the nearby spectators. Then, the barrier began to flicker furiously as a red light swallowed the entire battlefield.
