Chapter 3: Chapter 2: Friend

"85, 86, 87, 88, 89, and 90..." Jade counted as they placed containers of dry selected meats on the tall shelves.

"That shouldn't be right," Jade uttered before they searched through a list on they're holographic screen on they're futuristic watch.

"Ten of the containers are missing. But why?" Jade questioned.

"Did someone stole them? No. The door to the storage room didn't have any signs of struggle, so I'm the only person who has entered here." Jade mumbled while they lowered they're head.

"Was it a servant? But servants don't need to eat or drink, so it doesn't make sense." Jade mumbled before a crash sound echoed into they're ear.

"What was that?" Jade uttered as they ran towards the source of the sound.

When Jade ran through the aisles of the storage room they were halted. Jade's eyes met with a pair of scarlet ones. There stood a gigantic man standing over two meters in height. He has large muscles that give the impression of being able to kill a bear with his bare hands. He has sternly chiselled features with eyes that give off a dazzling glow, able to overtake most souls in an instant with his sharpness, and burning red hair and beard.

"Hello there! I didn't realize anyone was in here." the gigantic man grinned.

This gigantic man also held ten containers and two wine bottles in his arms. Jade gazed down to see a large red puddle on the floor along with some glass shards. Jade quickly left before they returned with a mop and a plastic bag.

"Move," Jade ordered.

The gigantic man stepped away from the puddle while Jade swiftly cleaned the mess.

"So what takes you to this place?" the gigantic man as he attempted to strike a conversation.

"I'm the janitor." Jade bluntly said.

"Hmm? So you are here to clean?" the gigantic man hummed.

Jade gazed up at the gigantic man with a cold stare. "No, I'm here to gather the ingredients for the Chaldea's masters dinner."

"Oh! Do janitors usually do that?" the gigantic man chuckled.

"I'm going to kick your A**," Jade muttered under they're breath.

"What was that?" the gigantic man said as he crouched in front of Jade.

"You're not allowed to trespass." Jade glared at the gigantic man.

The gigantic man roared with laughter. "HAHAHA! YOU ARE QUITE THE BRAVE ONE!"

"I would say you are pretty bold yourself, but you lack awareness," Jade said as a small smile crept up on they're face.

The gigantic man hummed. "Hmm? What do you mean?"

Jade didn't respond as they casually placed two bottles of wine back on the shelves. The man's eyes immediately darted to his empty arms. The gigantic man then stared at Jade while they walked away with the ten containers.

The gigantic man laughed. "HAHAHA! I SEE NOW! YOU ARE NOT ONLY BRAVE BUT YOU ARE SLY AS WELL!"

Jade didn't respond, however, the gigantic man began to follow them. Even when Jade placed the containers back on the shelves and gathered the ingredients they needed for dinner. The man continued to follow them and continued to talk to Jade. Jade didn't say anything, already feeling mentally exhausted. When they both entered the kitchen, Jade finally spoke.

"Could you go away? I don't have time to chat with you." Jade said bluntly while they glared at the gigantic man.

The gigantic man hummed. "But I don't know your name yet."

Jade clicked they're tongue. "Jade Quinn, satisfied now? Can you leave now?"

The gigantic man grinned. "Jade Quinn! What a befitting name!"

"Are you going to leave or are you carry on babbling?" Jade hissed.

"Aren't you going to ask my name?" the gigantic man said.

Jade eventually growled. "I don't care about your name! As far I know, you are a royal pain in the A**!" Jade said as they poked the gigantic man's chest.

The gigantic man then chuckled. "You're not too far off, I am royalty."

"Oh wow! Oh, pardon me, your majesty!" Jade said sarcastically as they bowed in front of the gigantic man.

The gigantic man roared with laughter. "YOU ARE QUITE HUMOUROUS, JADE QUINN! I LIKE THAT!"

Jade groaned before they slammed they're head against a table and sighed. "You are hopeless."

"What do you mean?" the gigantic man said.

"Go away." Jade bluntly stated.

"Ask my name first."

"You can't be serious." Jade groaned.

"I'm very serious." the gigantic man grinned.

Jade sighed before they lifted they're head off the table and stared at the man's scarlet eyes.

Jade sighed again. "Okay. What is your name?"

"I am called the Iskander, King of Conquerors. Rider-class!" Iskander said with a proud smile.

"Uh-huh." Jade rolled they're eyes.

Jade turned from Iskander before they rolled up they're sleeves and started the kitchen equipment. Iskander didn't leave the room, but Jade gave up they're hopes in Iskander leaving. Jade prepared the ingredients, turned on the stove and cooked while Iskander watched in the background. Iskander carried on talking to Jade, while Jade silently cooked.

An hour passed by and Iskander still continued to talk to Jade, until he went silent when a plate with three marinated steaks slide in front of him. Iskander stared as he attempted to glance at Jade's expression, but Jade had they're back turned. Iskander grinned as he could guess what expression Jade's face was without seeing it. Iskander took a bite out of the marinated steak and his eyes widen.

"THIS IS DELICIOUS!" Iskander announced.

"Of course it is, I'm the one who made it," Jade remarked as they glanced at Iskander's satisfied expression.

"Now I'm jealous of my master. She gets to eat meals similar to this every day, it seems unfair." Iskander said with a stuffed face.

"I thought servants don't need to eat or drink," Jade commented.

"We don't, but just because we don't need to doesn't mean we can't."

"Huh. I guess you put up a fair argument."

"Can I have more?" Iskander said as he handed over his empty plate.

"No," Jade said coldly as they slapped the approaching towards the other plates of steak.

"Just one more," Iskander asked.

"I'll prepare the leftovers if you don't touch anything." Jade bargain.

"Deal!" Iskander grinned.
