Chapter 4: Thugs.

Hui Guiying got to work quickly on gathering his companions. He already knew the procedure this time.

Toda Kasumi, a high school boy who was able to control his surroundings with mist.

Momo Heart, a powerful swords woman capable of channeling the sun into her sword.

Alistar Hickery, capable of tanking enormous amounts of damage.

Hui Guiying shook his head. He should better get started soon.

He had regressed into the time where he had just picked his power, unknowing of the huge curse it had. Now that he was able to share some of the being's power, he had huge potential. In the regressions after the 2nd one, he was depressed and gloomy.

Now, he had a new hope for this turn.

____

A feminine young boy with black hair was sitting blankly on the ruined street. His eyes seemed to be dead, and the only thing that was moving was his chest. Hui Guiying stood in front of him.

The boy still didn't have a reaction, but Hui Guiying expected it. At this time, he should still be mourning the death of his mother.

Before the apocalypse started, Toda Kasumi's mother was a Japanese immigrant that had moved to America. She divorced him shortly after Toda was born, and tried her best to raise him. However, Toda and his mother were unfortunate enough to immediately encounter a pack of monsters after picking their power.

In order to save Toda, she ran into the hoard of monsters as Toda ran away crying.

Hui Guiying's heart softened. He had lost his parents at a young age, but he knew that his parents loved him deeply before they died.

He kneeled down and put his hand on Toda's shoulder.

"Come. Let's get you some food."

________

...It was boring.

Like, insanely boring. Saltor groaned in his mind. They had been traveling for over 3 days now. They had gotten a signal from C city south of X city, and they were halfway there.

Although they encountered monsters, they were very weak. Probably on the same level as a flock of pigeons, which was quite strange. Plus, the superficial wounds they got were easily healed by Saltor.

Saltor thought they were just going to have an easy trip, and he had been worried over nothing. However, a group of bandits were encountered the next day.

"Get outta the car! We're taking over from now on!" The leader of the bandits seemed to be cocky since their numbers far exceeded the 4 people they took.

"Sigh, can you guys handle it?" Alston asked the 2 other crew members, Nick and Michian. They nodded, although their experience was lacking, they would be able to handle it with their powerful abilities.

Saltor just sat quietly in the back as he stared at the pair leaving. His eyes flashing before darkening again. He had a bad feeling about this...

Meanwhile, Alston was oblivious of Saltor's uneasiness. He turned back from the front and tried to have some small talk.

"How you faring? We haven't really run into troubles other then this." Alston asked.

"..It's fine..." Saltor didn't wan't to talk and just looked away. Alston didn't seem to get the message.

He stared at Saltor before asking another question.

"Why do you wear that mask all the time? You even go as far to eat separately in order not to reveal yourself." Alston received no response, causing him to frown. "Oi, answer when i'm talking to you-"

Before he could finish, a huge sound was heard. They both looked up front and saw a huge wolf with weird green gashes across it's skin. Saltor's eyes widened as the bad feeling sprang up to its peak.

It seemed Nick and Michian had finished half of the thieves. But then the leader did something to summon the monster, since his hand was emitting a weird sign. No wonder he was so cocky, they overwhelmed them with numbers and the leader was very powerful.

It seemed the leader was straining himself a bit however as sweat could be seen on the top of his forehead. Alston clicked his tongue.

"Dammit..." His brown eyes showed some bad intent, which was caught by Saltor.

"F***! Is this bastard planning to ditch me?!" He could easily see the uneasiness in his eyes. Maybe his distort power couldn't face the bandits?

Alston slowly got out the car. His figure seemed puny compared to the wolf. The leader saw him emerge.

"Ah, so you're the leader huh?" The dirty ruffian with green eyes observed Alston. Nick and Michian's eyes brightened as they thought Alston was here to save them. {They were currently tied up in the back}

"...I'll cut you a deal." Alston said. This caused the leader's eyebrows raised.

"What makes you think you have the right to have a deal with me-" A sound was heard as one of the thug's arms twisted in a unnatural shape.

"Aurghk!!!" The thug's eyes teared up as he clutched his left arm. The leader's eyes widened a bit, but the cockiness didn't disappear.

"...I see, so what's your offer?" He asked.

"I'll let you have those two at the back. Plus, I have a powerful healer still in the car behind me." Alston said, without showing a change in expression.

Ollie, the leader, was interested. His current team didn't have any people with recovery abilities, and they had been relying on first aide kits. They could use a good healer...

"Why are you making this offer?" Ollie knew this man wasn't weak.

"It should be obvious, I'm heavily outnumbered and can't go against your wolf alone. However, it would be a huge loss if more of your people died here. So it's beneficial for the both of us. You get a healer to treat your wounded, and I walk away with my life." Alston calmly said.

"C-Captain..." The look of betrayal in Nick's face could be seen in his entire body.

Alston looked at him. "I'm not your captain anymore."

After Ollie saw this display, he laughed. "You have gotten yourself a deal..."

"Alston."

"Alston, I'll remember that name! Now, bring out the healer and head off on your way." Ollie looked at the car expectantly.

Alston headed towards where Saltor was sitting.

___

"F***! This sonuvabi*** really did betray me!!" Saltor was fuming. He had to hurry and make a decision, run away or join the thug's group.

Don't you all just LOVE a cliffhanger? Lmao I have inspiration. Something I haven't had in quite a long time. Maybe this is what Kist felt when she was first starting her book.
