Chapter 206: Tabitha vs Goliath
As Michael confronts Loutiel Tiffania picks herself up with a slightly confused yet still panicked look, but quickly breathes a sigh of relief when she sees Michael use his abilities. She shakes the slight fuzz from her head that'd come from getting thrown and steadily gets to her feet... Only for a pair of arms to wrap around her shoulders, prepared to drag her away.
"G-GET OFF!" she screams, hand darting to her waist for the dagger that Michael had bought her, drawing it and stabbing it twice into the man's unarmoured thigh before they let go.
"Gah! You little whor-" the man shouts from under his helmet, going to draw his blade only for Tiffania to thrust her wand forth while shouting, "ERASE!"
A flash of light blows up in the man's face and once it's done he's left there with completely milky white eyes with a collapsing posture. The man's body unconscious tries to take a breath but isn't able to as it'd already forgotten.
Tiffania pushes the man over as she runs for the tent, wishing to extract Charlotte's mother so they'd be able to escape if the situation wasn't looking good.
Charlotte herself was using the full might of her magic, using conjured wind walls to block bullets and occasionally redirect them at other enemies. A man charges her with a sword raised over his head, but she flicks the bottom of her staff at them, causing a large wave of ice to explode forth. It envelopes the man and two others behind him, and will probably end their lives if they aren't pulled out from their frozen tombs soon.
Illococoo had fled into the forest when the battle started, not to escape, but so that she could transform without revealing herself as a Rhyme Dragon. Once out of sight, she'd changed into her Sylphid form and come back, breathing fire and blowing people away with gusts of wind created from her wings.
Unfortunately, not everything was going to go in their favour... The skies darken as the already gathered clouds coalesce overhead, rain beginning to fall down with a torrential quantity.
*CRAAAASH!*
An impact occurs from behind the treeline where most of the soldiers were, and a huge shadow rises with a person standing atop it.
Charlotte immediately recognises this however, her eyes squinting in anger, "Fouquet." she seethes, recognising the massive earth golem as belonging to Fouquet the Crumbling Dirt. The golem starts making its way towards them, and Charlotte glances towards Michael, only to see him locked in fierce combat with some white-haired man. She spotted Tiffania heading for the tent where he mother was and frowns, knowing that she'd be the one to deal with this.
She raises her staff overhead and turns in a small circle, causing large ice pillars to erupt from the ground around the campsite, providing a temporary barrier against the enemy forces. She lets out a tired sigh once that's done and begins running, "Sylphid!" she shouts, jumping in the air and allowing Sylphid to fly down and pick her up, both of them totally in sync with one another.
"Big sis! It's that giant again!" Illococoo's voice sounds out in Charlotte's mind, sounding anxious as they'd been soundly defeated last time.
"Focus, Slyphid." Charlotte easily responds, wanting her familiar's full concentration on the task ahead.
The duo flies towards the giant, and Charlotte is finally able to see Matilda standing atop the giant. She wasn't surprised as Michael had already revealed the woman's secret, but it was still aggravating to know that you'd been lied to for so long... To think she actually respected this woman in the academy.
"Miss Tabitha! Good for you to join me! Will you surrender!? Or will I have to beat you and kill your familiar first!?" Matilda shouts through the torrential rain, her wand ready in her hand.
Charlotte's neutral expression breaks as she scowls at the woman, "Stop or die." she retorts, too quiet for Matilda to hear, but her lips were read regardless.
Matilda sneers, "That's a shame! I actually enjoyed your company in the academy!" she shouts, and her golem rears back its arm to punch Sylphid from the sky.
*WOOOSH!*
Sylphid easily dodges the strike, but Charlotte is forced to conjure heavy gusts of winds to boost the sharp stone spears fired by Matilda. "Closer, Sylphid!" Charlotte mentally commands and her familiar does so.
The golem tries to slap the dragon out of the air, but Charlotte ducks low as Sylphid performs a barrel roll under it, allowing her to fly past its armpit. A stone wall sprouts from the golem's chest to impede them, courtesy of Matilda, but Charlotte easily blows it apart with a concentrated blast of wind.
Stone fragments collide uselessly against Sylhpid's scales, but some pieces hit Charlotte, bruising and cutting her face as she readies her next spell.
The duo flies up, and Charlotte casts a spell as they fly past Matilda. Two large shards of ice sprout from the top of Tabitha's staff and shoot from it, both arcing in opposite directions with their final destination being Matilda.
The woman is forced to summon a stone shield to fully cover her as the attack was coming from two separate directions...
*CRASH!*
One ice shard shatters on impact with the stone dome, but the other hits a moment later, actually managing to pierce the defence. Despite this though, it's still destroyed, only allowing small shards of ice to hit its mark.
"AH!" Matilda screams as many small ice shards pierce her skin, one hitting her calf and burying itself quite deep. Her concentration broken, the stone dome falls apart after all the damage it'd sustained, allowing Charlotte and Sylphid to see the damage they'd inflicted.
"She's hurt big sis!" Sylphid mentally cheers, but Charlotte doesn't celebrate yet. "Fight's not over." she quietly reprimands as the duo swoop around for another pass.
