Chapter 2: Heaven's compassion

Heavenly father and heavenly mother looked down at the Jacob and Melissa as they slept soundly.

"Dear, haven't they suffered enough? Should we not grand their wish. At this point they might not get together at all..." Heavenly mother asked her husband.

"I know, I know. It pains me to see it too, dear. But... heaven has laws... We can not interfere with their choices." Heavenly father sighs. "Even though Melissa has great faith and makes great sacrifices in taking trials with him, we cannot go into Jacob's agency. She knows that too..."

"Yes... What a pity... What a pity..." Heavenly mother replied and sighed. "Jacob keeps straying from the path of happiness. If he keeps this up not even Melissa will be able to help him."

"True... She will be fed up with him soon. If only there was a way we could give them one more chance to make a decision to choose each other..." Heavenly father responded pained at the sight of the couple.

"That's it! We can give them a chance. We can make them dream! Give them a lifetime to decide whether they want each other. But in real life they are asleep for a day. It is a dream, so the heavenly laws won't count upon their action or our interference." Heavenly mother suggested.

"Hmm, not a bad Idea. We can connect them by Jacob's late grandfather's ring. What do you think?" Heavenly father inquired; "Hopefully Melissa will not forget her principles though."

"Let's hope so. However I'm afraid we can only write that they're meant to meet. Other then that we can interfere no more." Heavenly mother spoke.

The two agreed and they sent the decree to the lord of dreams on it.

-In the dream world-

"Push, your majesty. Push!" The doctor urged. "Almost there!"

Queen Ariel held tight to King Remi's hand. The baby was born but... there was no crying...

'What the heck? Where am I?' Jacob thought in his baby body.

"Why is there no crying!? Doctor is he alive?!" King Remi panicked as his wife passed out.

"Alpha Mao, we're not sure. He seems to be breathing fine." The nurse said; "Come on, little one. Cry!" She lightly patted the baby's body.

'Hey, hey! Don't touch me! Keep the distance lady! Who are you even?' Jacob said as he felt pressure on his body. 'Why is it so cold? Oh wait... I'm the new born baby...'

"C'mon little one! Everyone's waiting... Cry!" The nurse begged.

'Oh I need to cry.' Jacob realized. 'well I can try... Let's see... Weh? No that's not right...'

Jacob started crying. Everyone was relieved and cheered. "Congratulations Alpha Mao. What will you name him?" The doctor asked as he gently handed the young prince over to King Remi.

"Uh, I think I will wait for Ariel to wake up. We'll name him together."King Remi replied as he took baby Jacob in his arms. The king smiles at Jacob. "I can't wait to introduce you to your older brother. You'll love him!"

'Aww how sweet. Heh, Seems I will have loving parents this lifetime.' Jacob laughed to himself. ' Perhaps aloving family too. Oh Wait... My name won't be Jacob anymore will it?'

-15 years later-

"Come on, get up slow poke!" Reyan yelled, pulling the blanket.

"No!" Jacob replied, throwing a pillow in Reyan's face. Reyan caught hold of the pillow before it made impact. "Just five more minutes!" Jacob murmured, pulling his blanket back.

Feeling the weight of the pillow, Reyan smirked. "Up, Yongliang!" He ordered, throwing the pillow hard on Jacob's face. "Now!"

Jacob immediately sat up. "What the heck, Reyan!" Jacob said, touching his face. His face still stung a bit from the impact.

"Are you getting up?" Reyan asked, raising a brow. "Or do you wanna look like a worn out rag before training even starts?"

"Sheesh, Rey! Gimme a sec!" Jacob complained, stretching out as he closed his eyes.

Reyan rolled his eyes and kicked Jacob of his bed with half his strength.

Jacob flew into the table. The vase on the table toppled over and rolled off the table, shattering on his head. The sting from the impact and shards evident in his body. Jacob muttered some incoherent words. The blood stood out against his skin.

Reyan winced. "Ooh... That looks like it hurts..." He remarked.

"Bro, you don't even sound sorry. At least help me up." Jacob replied.

"Ok, ok. It's not that bad! Geez." Reyan rolled his eyes, walking over to Jacob. "But a purple eye would fit against your fair skin, don't yah think?" He said with a killer smile as he pulled his brother up.

Jacob gaped for a second and shook his head. "I swear, your humor is getting more and more violent with each passing year." He said, and patted Reyan's shoulder. "I get it. But just don't go too far. Okay?"

~At the dinner table~

Ariel bought the pot with chicken to the table. Remi stood up. "Let me take it." He offered.

Ariel brought the pot farther away. "Don't touch it. It's hot! You don't even have a towel in your hands or muffs on!" Ariel scolded him in a light tone and laughed; "Go take the drinks from the fridge!"

Ariel put the food on the table. The boys' mouths both started to water. They each grabbed a piece of meat. Ariel let it slide as she went to grab the rice. The boys were about to grab a second piece as Ariel put down the rice.

"What in the world do you think you're doing?" Ariel scolded with a raised brow; "Stop sitting there and start plating the table. Then wash your hands."

"But Mom!" Both protested at the same time.

Ariel looked at them and raised her brow, making them surrender and get up. As they passed their Dad, Remi teased: 'Uh-oh, What did you two do to your mom?"

"Nothing." They replied. "Absolutely nothing."

"Really? You two look like you're walking with your tails tucked between your legs." Remi replied and walked to the dining room.

"Did Rey and Liang misbehave?" Remi asked, wrapping his hands around her waist and kissing her cheek. Ariel laughed and took a bottle from his hands.

"No, I just stopped them before they took more meat." Ariel responded.

Remi laughed. "Well... They are growing boys. They need to eat well." he defended his son.

"That may be so, but they can wait a little while. A little patience doesn't hurt anyone. In fact it'll benefit them throughout their life." Ariel argued with a smile.

"Well, where's the fun in that?" Remi argued back.

"Well, where's the fun in getting everything handed to you?" Ariel questioned back.

"Hey, no fair! Don't answer my question with a questioned." Remi scowled then pouted.

"Aww, I'm sorry~. My poor baby." Ariel said as she hugged Remi; "But where's the fun in that?

"You stole my line." Remi replied smile as he hugged back.

"Karma hurts"Ariel responded.

"Is that so..." Remi responded. "Mhm." Ariel said, nodding her head.

"Well then..." Remi grabbed her chin lightly and grinned." If you're my karma. Then I would gladly except this karma throughout all my life." He said.

Ariel blushed. and looked down. "You're so cheesy!" Ariel replied and hit his chest playfully.

"Yeah, but you love it." Remi said with a smile.

"Get a room!" Reyan cried as he walked back with Jacob. Forks and spoons with Jacob and plates with Reyan.

"I'm afraid we can't afford such luxury at the moment. You three have a busy day ahead of you." Ariel replied.

"Are you sure about that, Ari?" Remi asked, wrapping both his hands around her waist again.

"Yes. Yes I am." Ariel replied, fixing his collar with a smile. "you shouldn't hold up the boys' training."

"Aren't you gonna join us for training?" Remi said and pouted.

"No, I'll join next time. Lumi and my sister are coming over tomorrow. Along with some other members of flora tribe. I gotta stay and prepare for their arrival."

"Oh, yeah. It slipped my mind. See you later." Remi said placing a kiss on her forehead. "I'll try to be home early to help out."

~At the training grounds~

Jacob's sword flew across the training grounds and hit the ground. Reyan kicked him in the stomach at full force.

Jacob hit the ground and groaned. Reyan pointed his sword to his younger brother and grinned.

"Reyan!" King Remi yelled out giving his first born a pointed look. "Easy."

"Couldn't you go easy on me, Rey?" Jacob complained to Reyan. "It's my first day, Sheesh."

"Are you kidding?" Reyan inquired; "That was taking it easy. As you can see. You aren't spilling out any blood." Reyan smiled. His eyes gleaming with satisfaction.

"Bro, I swear. You're getting more and more sadistic everyday." Jacob said clutching his stomach. "I think I might throw up my breakfast." Jacob winced.

"Come on, Yongliang! Quit japing and get up." Reyan stated, rolling his eyes. "Live up to your name will yah? Wouldn't wanna disappoint mom and dad." (Yongliang means to shine bright forever)

Jacob grinned, getting on his feet. "Tch, I could say the same to you, Reyan.", he replied. "Be careful not to disappoint either. Brother."(Reyan means to be a gift from god)

Jacob summoned his sword back into his hand and struck back at full force. A fire in his eyes burning, reflecting the hunger of his soul.

Reyan blocked and chuckled. "Yes, that's it! There it is. Your thirst for fights." Reyan said, his eyes gleaming in response to Jacob's fire. "Come at me with all you've got! Give me a real fight."

Jacob swung his sword hard and quickly, unbalancing Reyan. He sliced his skin again and again. High kneeing him right after. Thick rich red blood oozed out from almost every part of Reyan's chest.

Reyan staggered back and spit out blood. He smiled and struck back much faster and effortlessly. Jacob blocked, staggering back a little. Reyan's eyes gleamed, body littered in cuts and clothes stained with blood.

He cut into Jacob's shoulder then blocked Jacob's attack. He drove into Jacob's stomach then twisted it with a twisted smile. "That was fun."

"Reyan! That's enough!" King Remi exclaimed. "Stop, right now!"

At his father's voice Reyan let go of his sword. "I didn't go too far, did I?" Reyan asked with wide eyes. "Hey, A'Liang... Are you okay?" Reyan reached out to hold Jacob's shoulder as he pulled out his sword.

Jacob closed his eyes as he winced a bit. He leaned a bit towards Reyan as he held on to Reyan's shoulder. "Heh, yeah. Of course! Why wouldn't I be?" Jacob replied. "I'm your younger brother. It'll heal anyway."

"Your mom is seriously gonna kill me for letting you two go this far." King Remi said and sigh. "Alright. Alright, Reyan bring Yongliang to rest and recuperate for a bit."

~A couple hours later~

"Oh my! They sure had a rough training, I see" Lumi said when she saw Remi walked in with his boys.

"ReyRey, A'liang. Are you two okay?" Ariel asked, worry visible in her voice and eyes. "Did you two play too roughly?"

"It's fine, Ari." Remi said wrapping his arms around her waist. "Reyan just got a bit carried away."

Ariel sighed. "Alright. but do take a bath. You smell."

~In the mean time~

"Hey aunt Lumi, Uncle Yami." Reyan and Yongliang greated with a smile.

"Long time no see. Had fun sparing, ey?" Yami answered, eyeing their clothes.

"Your mom would have your heads if she was there." Lumi replied with a laugh.

"Exactly. She wasn't there. So..." Reyan replied.

"We could do as we please." Jacob filled in with a smile. "Although you could've gone a bit easier on me, you know Rey."

"Now where's the fun in that?" Reyan inquired with a smirk.

Jacob shook his head as they poured themselves a drink. They were about to sit on the couch but...

"I know you two are tired but go take a bath and put on some fresh clothes." Ariel scolded. "You're gonna stain the couches."

"But Mom!" The two complained.

"No buts. Go now." Ariel ordered. "Then you can do whatever you want."

The boys sighed and stood up. "Alright. Alright." Reyan answered.

"Oh, mom. Are uncle Lumiki and Lumikai here yet?" Jacob asked.

"Yes and Grandma and Grandpa will be here soon too. So go." Ariel responded and ushered them up the stairs.
