Chapter 2: I'm Sorry

Yusuf's POV:

Hajara was pretty, nice, and hot in her own way, not like the rest of the flirty girls in school. I was speechless as I drowned in her warm blue eyes. Yes, I think Hajara was her name. Even though she covered up so much she was still utterly stunning.

"Hey bro!" Benyamin jumped on the couch, sitting beside me in the living room. "What are ya thinking?"

"What's up?" I replied with boredom. My name 'Yusuf' is the Arabic way of saying Joseph while Benyamin was the Arabic way of saying, Benjamin.

"Your crushing on that girl, what's her name... um... Hajara? " He asked taking the TV remote and turning it on without looking at me. He put on the news channel and leaned back on the sofa keeping his eyes glued on the holoscreen TV.

"Nope", I said too quickly before he could read my expressions.

"Today September 17, 2070, America's President (John Brown) has banned all Germans in America due to their performance of various threatening crimes to take over Dallas. " Said the news reporter, her hair dyed golden and a black heart tattoo stuck on her face.

"I have a feeling that Germany is gonna start a war, no way are they going to tolerate Brown's words. I mean who bans a specific nation, that's just racist! This president is damn stupid, you take the criminals to jail not ban its nation." Benyamin cried, thinking aloud. He ran his hands through his golden hair clearly messing it, even more, worry was clearly evident in his pale green eyes. He always predicted things beforehand but what scared me was that his predictions were always true.

I took the TV remote and turn it off. "Benyamin you need to do tomorrow's homework!" I commanded. I'm in no way allowing him to get worried about something stupid.

"Sure BIG bro, Thanks for reminding me." He said rolling his eyes.

"Welcome."

He winked at me before leaving the room. "Don't forget I'll get Hajara ready as your wife in the future."

What the hell?

My cheeks were probably flaring up now, what is wrong with him? Actually, what is wrong with me? I don't even know her yet I developed a stupid crush on her.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

At school, I sat beside Austin and Ibrahim, my two best friends. They are both nice, chill, helpful, and hardworking. Even though we are pretty popular around here, we are pretty hard working not like most in most stories where the popular boys are usually I quote 'bad boys'.

Austin flung his eraser at me laughing, the tenth time actually to be exact. "Stop looking at the girl." He teased, as I found myself staring at Hajara again struggling with her math work biting her lips. She looked radiant as usual, her face natural, her eyes blue and her skin pale like snow.

I rolled my eyes, "Sorry for looking at her." Austin barked out laughing noticing my cheeks flushing up again.

As soon as the bell rang for lunch, we dashed to one of the tables in the cafeteria. Lunch was something all the students looked forward to.

Austin sat on the chair in the cafeteria with a frown etched on his face, "What's up Austin?" I asked calmly.

"Do you like Hajara?" He questioned stabbing his food with his fork hard. Ouch, poor food! "Cause I saw you... looking at her multiple times."

"No", I said too quickly looking away so he couldn't catch me lying.

"Good, cause, to be honest I really like her and I want her to go on a date with me." My heartbeat stopped. What the hell? His words are never true, when it comes to love he dumps them when he's done using them. Like, as if it's a freaking game.

"What?" I asked, blinking few times.

"You heard me right! Yes, I wanna date a Muslim."

"Sure, go ask her," I said carelessly because I know she's not going to accept him anyway. I didn't want to make my friend sad either.

"When do I ask her? Do you even think she'll accept me?" Somehow I really wanted him to ask her out in front of me, I wanted to hear her reply. I wanted to make sure she said 'no'.

"Ask her after lunch or whenever you're done with your lunch," I said as I spotted Hajara sitting at one of the tables close to us, deeply engrossed in her conversation with her best friends. Suddenly she got up and left the cafeteria.

"Go ask her now," I ordered.

"Can you come with me?" Austin asked nervously. Chicken! Seriously, if he's nervous then why even ask?

"Sure." I rolled my eyes.

I followed Austin out of the cafeteria to the crowded locker room where Hajara was. The locker room was filled up with students, I bet she'd never notice me tailing behind Austin. I stood behind them keeping some distance so she couldn't see me.

"Ahem." Austin cleared his throat, showing his manliness off. "Umm... Hajara, I want to ask you something?"

Hajara looked up with a questioning look, "Yeah?"

"Would you like to come on a date with me?" Her blue eyes grew wide and my heart started beating fast, I held my breath inwardly, I didn't want her to say yes. I secretly wanted to have a life with her in the distant future.

"Umm... I'm sorry, I can't! I'm a Muslim and we can't date men without marrying them." She said looking down and walking away. She is definitely the girl I want for my future!

Austin turned around grumbling and stomped away leaving me trailing behind him. "Austin I'm sorry for your loss," I mumbled, not being sorry at all. Austin has many ex-girlfriends all of them with broken and shattered hearts. I don't even know why girls even accept him as a boyfriend, they are all stupid. Well, he deserves it!

"Yeah right your sorry!" He yelled sarcastically, clenching his fists making few people stare at us. "You knew she was going to say 'no' cause you'rere a Muslim too." He curled his fist as he swiftly walked back to the cafeteria to sit beside Ibrahim. "She's the first girl who said no and no one says no to me because I'm handsome." He gestured towards his face angrily.

For some reason I started laughing, earning a death glare from Ibrahim. I quickly gulped down my laughter and start coughing immensely. "Just something in my throat!" I said making the boys around me erupt in laughter except for Austin.

"She'll pay for it," Austin angrily smacked his fist on the table making it shake violently. "Soon." He whispered making a shiver go up to my spine like in the movies. No, I'm kidding!

"Come on there are more girls in the world that you might like!" Ibrahim groaned.

Austin glared at him, "No girl has ever refused me, I'll show her what refusing really is." He screamed breaking his spoon. Oh god damn, he's strong! When did he grow muscles?

Some students looked in our direction trying to see what all the commotion was all about. Such a hothead, I don't even know what I saw in him when I became his friend.

"Calm down, man. Just let her go! " I said breaking the ice. There's no way I'll let him touch her just for refusing a date. Crazy friend!

"Never!" He whispered looking me in the eye, scaring me a bit. Not that I was scared of him but I was scared for her. Austin was capable of anything!

Is he really going to hurt her?

---------------------------------------------------------------

At the end of the day, I followed Austin around like a spy; hiding behind bins, doors and etc. Even when Benyamin came and nudged me I pulled him behind the bins with me and shushed him making him wait there for few minutes.

I drove home with Benyamin when the two sisters left the school safely. I was worried that Austin would do something to them. "What was all that about? " Benyamin asked grumpily.

"Nothing," I muttered innocently but Benyamin didn't let go of things that easily, he always pried in everything. I finally gave up in irritation and told him the truth, it's either face his endless questions or tell the honest truth. He is such a pain in the back!

"Fine, I like her. Happy?" I yelled out in annoyance, raising my hands. "You were right, I like her."

"You like Hajara? Of course, you do cause I saw the chemistry going on between you two and I am a science guy so I detected it. Congrats to me!" He boasted smiling broadly as if he won a gold medal. "But I was gonna say... I like Sarah bro." He blurted out without even him realizing.

"WHAT?" I accidentally pressed the brake I little too hard and looked at him in the eye to see if he was saying the truth.

"What? Did I just say that out loud?" He smacked his forehead, "Anyways, is that wrong?"

"No," I whispered honestly not knowing what to say or feel, I'm worried and happy for both of us.

If I propose to her in the future will she accept me as her husband?

Ugh... Why do I keep thinking about her?

Your driving me crazy girl!
