Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Welcome, Nerd!
"…." When there was no response, Airyn swiftly looked up and found that Zavi had swept back the floor. She was pensive for a moment, after which she also resumed her activities.
Once all the books were neatly organized in their respective places, Airyn came out of the library to the counseling and guidance room to report that she had done her punishment. Then what about Zavi? He had already completed his assignment and came out of the library ten minutes earlier than her.
When Airyn arrived in front of the counseling and guidance room, she bumped into Zavi who seemed to be heading to his class. She did not bother about the matter at all, as she immediately went to report to Ms. Rita. Afterwards, she immediately rushed to her class as the first lesson was shortly going to begin.
However, when Airyn entered her classroom and was about to sit in her chair, she found that her desk was full of scribbles and the culprit was none other than her friends. They were such disdainful writings. She took the wet tissue from her bag and immediately wiped them before the teacher came. Her friends who watched her only laughed out loud and made fun of her.
"Why did you delete it, Nerd? Hasn't your desk turned out nice?"
"Look, my writing is good, isn't it, Ryna?"
"Hahaha, I swear that you don't really deserve to go to this school, you know."
"Don't be like that, we should welcome her in a proper way," someone replied scornfully.
"Oh yeah, welcome to our class, Nerd!!"
"Hahahaha, it's really bad."
"Well, you said we have to welcome her properly."
"Yeah, of course."
"Good morning, what is this class so boisterous about?" asked the teacher who had just entered the classroom that made everyone immediately shut their mouth and returned to their own seats. How about Airyn reaction to all the taunts by her friends earlier? Her response was silence. Well, she was quiet while lowering her head.
"Huh, well, then before, I would like to congratulate all of you who are now in second grade. And for today, as scheduled… I'll teach math. Ah, right, and you can call me Ms. Nia, okay?" Ms. Nia said.
"Yes, Ms. Nia," replied all students in agreement.
"Well, now please take out your text books first," Ms. Nia instructed.
"I am sorry, Ma'am, but we haven't got the textbook yet," said one of the students, raising his hand.
"Ah, right, well then please go one after another and get the textbooks from the library," said Ms. Nia. Therefore, they all went out to the library according to the order of their seats.
As Airyn sat in the back row at the farthest corner, she just got the turn to take the last book. In the library, she went straight to the shelf where she had put all the math textbooks earlier. However, she totally forgot that she put the book quite high, and she did not find any stool around her. It might be because of her friends might hide or remove any chairs in places she was not aware.
The space between her reach and location of the book is not too far-off, but once she tried to jump and pick up the book, she still had trouble reaching it. However, when she was catching her breath for being exhausted of jumping, suddenly she felt the person behind her was taking the book in the same place she was going to reach. And when she looked back, she saw Zavi who was now handing the book to her.
"Is it for me?" Airyn asked nervously without looking into his eyes.
"...." Without responding to her, Zavi immediately pulled her free hand and placed the book on her palm. Later, he directly went out of the room with the Physics textbook he brought with him.
"Why does he always keep quiet and never have a word?" Airyn asked to herself. She immediately rushed back to class to keep up with math lessons on the first day in her school today.
As soon as the recess bell rang, Airyn took out her lunch box and rushed out of the classroom to her usual spot for enjoying her lunch. Unfortunately, when she was going out of class, she accidentally bumped into Luna who wanted to go to the class with her friends, causing the iced drink Viold held in her hand was spilled out.
"Are you not walking by keeping your eyes on?!" Luna said to her indignantly.
"Sorry." Airyn replied remorsefully for spilling the iced drink.
"Sorry? Do you think your apologies is enough to get my iced drink back again?! Hm, but fortunately I'm not thirsty any longer... Now I'm hungry. Anyway, what did you bring today?" She asked to Airyn who was holding her lunch box tightly.
"S—sandwich," Airyn squeaked, lowering her head.
"Ok, because you've spilled out my iced drink, I'll eat your lunch instead." Luna said and then forcefully grabbed Airyn lunchbox.
"B—but ...." Airyn replied reluctantly as Luna took over her lunch box.
"Forget it, Ryna. After all, you have spilled out her iced drink, what's wrong with swapping it for your lunch?" said Lexa, one of Luna friends.
"Ok, just let it be... bye," said Luna and then she walked into the classroom with her friends following behind.
Airyn then helplessly went to the library to read books just like she used to whenever Luna took her lunch box. Well, it was not the first time but Luna often did it so.
At the library, Airyn directly took the book she wanted to read and chose to sit in the corner. She was so engrossed with her reading that she didn't even notice that someone was sitting next to her. When the bell rang, she gasped and rushed to her classroom. As for the person sitting next to her, he just watched her quietly.
Three hours had passed, finally it was time for the bell to go home. All the students scattered out of their classes and rushed to go home. While her classmates drove their own car or got picked up on their way to and from home, Airyn was unlike the others. Each day she always took the bus to go to and from school.
