Chapter 10: Introduction

Dexter had a decent sleep before being rudely awakened by the office door flying open. He had already gotten used to it from the old hag, so he didn't even react, and after glaring at James, he pretended to try to go back to sleep. James stared at him, appreciating his childish antics.

"Dex, I got some men to pick you up some essentials," he spoke calmly at first but didn't get a reaction from Dexter.

"If you don't wake your ass up right now, I ain't feeding you," James said while he banged the wall over and over. Dexter shot up and walked over to him, not even looking tired.

James didn't say anything more and just signaled him to follow. They walked down the stairs and out the back door. The place had a lot more people than he had thought. Dexter guessed they might have a small company of soldiers situated here. They arrived at a makeshift barracks area which was really just a bunch of buildings near each other.

The whole way there, he had been getting stared at by the others who looked at him with a variety of different expressions. Some were respectful, some didn't give a shit about him, and others looked angry.

Dexter brushed them off. He was more concerned about the silent types than people who blatantly wore their emotions on their faces.

He followed James inside, and they came into a small room with bunks on both sides of it.

"This room has an opening right now. Fortunately for you, the three people staying here have passed away." James ended the silence.

"I'm sorry for your loss. Do you know what happened to them?" Dexter inquired while inspecting the rest of the room.

"It was either the clam or clap, but we don't really care."

Dexter realized they had been clapped in two different ways and held in his laughter. He was having a good time before he wondered if they actually had them. He paused for a second before grabbing the stuff that was bought for him off the bunks placing it on the floor.

'Looks like I'm sleeping on the floor again.'

He heard James laughing at him, but he didn't care.

"Come on, Dex, You need to get washed up," James ordered and led him away from the room. Twenty minutes later, the duo was walking back to his room, and Dexter was completely naked with his pistol in hand. His clothes were disgusting, and there was no way he was putting them on again.

James wondered what mental illness the kid had while Dexter was beaming with joy about how he would be packing in two different ways in the future.

After they arrived at the room, James told him he had to go do some things and for him to meet a man named John back in the warehouse after he got dressed.

Dexter looked at his clothes and wanted to kill James. They had bought him several Hawaiian shirts. Every single one of them was red and had floral designs on them. He had gotten two pairs of shorts and one pair of pants; the next problem was they were all cargo and khaki.

The shoes and socks, were regular; they just got him white sneakers and socks. This would be fine with him, but these were going to get ruined in no time. As for his underwear, Dexter decided just to go commando for now.

He put on the outfit that James had been kind enough to throw together for him and left to find the guy called John.

While walking to the warehouse, he was getting stared at again; he could see several ex-soldiers laughing at him this time. Dexter ignored them and held back the urge to go and insult them. Being a confident person, he knew that people, primarily girls, would find him cute right now. Thinking about it, that was most likely the reason why he was wearing something like this in the first place.

He headed inside and asked around for the man's location. He found out the ex-soldiers respected this person from how they were acting and eventually ended up in front of a well-built man who was towering over him, standing at over 6'.

John had Brown eyes, hair, and a short, relatively well-kept beard. He looked to be in his 30s and had a scar running down the right side of his face that cut into his beard. He was wearing a t-shirt, military jungle pants, and military boots.

The two of them were sizing each other up and ended with a staredown that went on far too long. Even the other people who were watching felt uncomfortable. John ended up blinking first and was surprised.

'Why the hell did I just have a two-minute-long staredown with a kid. I was just trying to intimidate him a little.'

"Good, I see why James likes you, brat, now are you going to keep looking at me like that, or do I need to teach you how to speak as well?" John queried with his hand on his chin, inspecting him.

"Nah, I can speak. What are you planning on teaching me anyways? You don't seem very bright." Dexter replied while mimicking John's actions. Despite just being insulted, John let out a laugh. It was customary to make fun of people in his eyes, and he was happy James didn't make him teach someone who was a pussy with no personality.

"Ah, you know, just the usual stuff kids learn, like how to kill people efficiently, fight with knives, shoot guns, hand to hand combat." He leaned in closer before continuing in a hushed manner

"If you do a good job, I can even teach you how to get all the girls you want. You see, I'm actually an expert in that department."

Dexter found the guy entertaining, to say the least. He already knew how to do everything he said, but it's never a bad thing to train, and if it was with this guy, it should be enjoyable.

que training montage. I know people are most likely tired of child mcs but I want to flesh out alot of his childhood to better understand his character and how he gets accustomed to the world. Describing locations in writing in something I need to improve on for some reason I suck at it.
