Chapter 1: Day it all changed

"Mr President, we have an issue." Agent Carter was sweating. He was terrified. He was trained as a professional soldier, but nothing can prepare a person for a likely end of the world.

"Speak quickly, I have lunch in fifteen minutes with Senator Jackson" As he spoke, president McKinley noticed the strange behaviour of this agent. That was the first time he looked moved at all. Never before would he show such a face.

Moreover, the strange atmosphere was spreading within the Whitehouse. As he had very keen senses, he could feel a nervous group of people behind the door. As he would know shortly anyway, he didn't ask about them.

"Sir, our extraterrestrial defences were compromised. We have confirmed a huge navy of Alien warships creating a net over Earth. At this point we have no idea what's going on."

"What...? When...?" McKinley was taken aback, he had no idea what to say. His usual calm demeanor was instantly dispelled, as he didn't know what to think. "I swear if this is..."

"Sir, this is nothing but the truth!" Agent reminded himself of his initial reaction and was patient. He wouldn't mind being scolded as long as he could get president to act. Fortunately McKinley knew him, and wouldn't act rushly.

"Were there any contact attempts?" Answer was obvious, but the question had to be asked.

"Only from our side." Agent said solemnly, to which president let out a heavy sigh.

Looking out the window he noticed strange little lights in the sky, which would pass as the stars, if they were not seen during day and in a hexagonal formation. Deep down he was a little proud he noticed it so quickly. Of course, he didn't let anyone see it, as he said with a heavy voice. "Call all the generals. Senator Jackson will have to dine alone today"

________

On the other side of pacific thing looked differently. As it was night public had a better view on the lights. Internet got infected with panicking people trying to solve the mystery. Silence of governments was also a given, since they were also in panic. The only difference was that officials knew what they were making fuss about. At least they had a general idea.

Liu Beng stared at the spaceship through the telescope. He was young, curious and a little bit excited. He was worried that he would die old working boring job in corpo. Now he had at least a chance to die to an alien laser. He saw this as an absolute win.

The spaceship was like a tube hundreds of kilometers long and a few thick. Liu Beng was theorising that artificial gravity was still not a thing, or it was not worth it. As he was staring he felt a shiver running through his back. It was like someone was staring back at him. It was unlikely, but creepy non the less.

At this moment doorbell ranged and with sigh of relief Liu Beng left for the door. It was his sister. long, caramel-like fair hung freely to her waist. Deep-brown eyes stared at him and he was reminded once again why people felt strange around him. He had the same eyes, which looked like staring into ones soul.

The good thing was that they had never an issue to get a partner. The problem was to keep one around. Both of them were maniacs. He was a geek, and she was an otaku to put it simply.

"Bad brother, you should invite me the second something like this happens" She said teasingly breaking him from his thoughts.

"Why should I? Before I would even dial your number you would just break into my home. It's better to guard the door so you don't trample it" he said while pulling her inside and locking the latches.

"So what are those lights?" she asked while approaching telescope. "Holy..." Liu Jia was really good at not swearing. Even now staring through the lenses she would only suggest a swear word, but not say it.

"It is appropriate time to swear and you don't. I'm shocked"

"If I got a Yuan every time you were shocked, I wouldn't ask grandpa for cash on new years."

"Do we count that time I touched electric fence?"

"Twice" She said with a smug smile and sat at the table. "So any theories?"

"Except for their lack of artificial gravity, which also suggests living beings, I have one more, but it's more like a gut feeling then proper theory." Liu Beng was in his sisters eyes amazing. He could deduce things from almost no clues. Liu Jia nodded for him to continue.

"The ships are in hexagonal formation around the planet" That kind of method is good only in two situations. One is defensive, but I don't think they have anything to fear from us. Except Florida man, of course."

"Of course." She laughed "The second one if offensive, like they want to be sure all humans are dead?"

"No, you would just start one place and sweep planet with line, or circular in this case, formation. Sadly we are not that lucky. This one is perfect for terramorphing."
