Chapter 9: Chapter 8: Wedding Day (2)

Si Ming: Best and only friend of Zhan Luo. He is the one in charge of writing the fates of the mortals (including the immortals that go to the Mortal Realm to upgrade their cultivation). He can also see a piece of the future of an immortal.

Zhan Luo was already positioned outside of the throne hall waiting for Ruo Yin's carriage to arrive.

"Who would have guessed that our dear High God Zhan Luo will one day get married. You have broken the heart of many maidens, my friend!" Si Ming said. He was the immortal in charge of the mortal's fate and long-time friend of the War Deity.

As Si Ming continued to act heartbroken for the thousands of maidens that he was speaking on their behalf of, Zhan Luo responded, "If you want, you may mend their broken heart. Since it worries you so much."

"Come on my friend," Si Ming said, draping his right arm in Zhan Luo's shoulder, "You know that am the Writer of Fate. I write the fate of the mortals and know the fate of the immortals. Even if it's just pieces of it... And, I can tell you, my friend, I may be okay with flirting or a fling here and there but finding true love. Never! What will this deity do if one of those broken heart maidens come and fall for me for real! No thanks!"

"I hope that one day you will find your true love, Si Ming, and she breaks your heart in tiny little pieces," Zhan Luo said while grabbing Si Ming's arm and throwing it down his shoulder.

"What a cruel thing to say! What have I done to insult you, so you wish me so much evil!"

"Well, let's see... To begin with, you are being extra annoying today. If I had liked to be annoyed I wouldn't have moved to Kunlun Mountain. Second, weren't you supposed to be here and announce to those waiting at the reunion hall when my soon-to-be wife is going to appear? Yet, you look more entertained by bickering me non-stop. And third, you should know I don't believe in fate, my dear writer of fate. I will write my own fate!" Zhan Luo replied a bit annoyed.

Si Ming's expression became serious, "So, the reason I annoyed you was because of what I told you a long time ago? That the girl you love was going to die because of you?"

"...."

Si Ming got closer to whisper in his ears so no one else could hear. "But didn't you agree to marry this little nobody princess, just so the Demon Lord couldn't plant a spy directly into the Sky Clan? You don't really love her, so where is the harm?"

Zhan Luo was angry now. He grabbed Si Ming by the collar of his robes and said, "You call her once again a nobody, and believe me that your fate as dead is sealed."

"Maybe that was too much for teasing..." Si Ming knew he crossed the line. He did not know that Zhan Luo appreciated that girl. After all, Zhan Luo was infamous for not only being cold at the battlefield but also that his heart being as ice. Meaning that he could love no one or at least did not want to love anyone.

"Hey, look! Your bride is here!" Si Ming noticed the red carriage. He quickly went inside to announce the bride's arrival while barely escaping Zhan Luo's anger.

Zhan Luo regained his composure. He did not know why he acted so angry. He was sure he was not in love with Ruo Yin. Even though since they met again at the annual reunion, his thoughts have been filled with her.

From the few moments they shared, Zhan Luo noticed that Ruo Yin was different. A bit stubborn, but she was not like the other female immortals who wanted to grab someone's attention. Instead, Ruo Yin wanted to be seen as an equal. Not some weakling and Zhan Luo liked that. She was definitely an interesting immortal to watch.

As the carriage went down so the bride could walk out, Zhan Luo came closer so that he could extend his hand to help Ruo Yin exit the carriage. What he did not expect was that Ruo Yin would not grab his hand. Instead, she exited the carriage by herself, patted a bit her wedding robes so that there were no wrinkles and later grabbed Zhan Luo by his arm.

"So, is this how we are going to play?" Zhan Luo thought.

Zhan Luo could not help but smile a bit. Definitely, this girl here was going to amuse him. He thought as he guided them towards the reunion hall.

The reunion hall itself was white and pristine with gold-colored decorations. So it matched perfectly with Ruo Yin's wedding attire that was white with red embroidery and Zhan Luo's which was a dark blue with golden embroidery. Their wedding attire was made with the colors of both clans, marking their union.

They walked towards the throne chairs where the Sky Emperor and Empress were sitting. They were the ones who were going to conduct the ceremony.

Zhan Luo suddenly felt that Ruo Yin was grabbing his sleeves tighter as if she was nervous. So with his free hand, he patted her hands to comfort her.

"Thanks," she whispered almost inaudibly.

"You're welcome."

The vows went without a hitch, and everyone was congratulating them when the ceremony was finished.

After the dinner celebration, as per tradition, the guests ushered the groom and the bride into their room so they could consummate their marriage. Since the War Deity did not live in the Sky Clan, he did not have a manor there, and using a guest room was not auspicious.

Ruo Yin said goodbye to the Demon Lord who was going to stay with the Sky Clan for a few more days till the celebration was over.

"You make me so proud," You Xie said to her as she was preparing to leave.

"Is this the only thing you know how to say today?" Ruo Yin thought a bit annoyed of how many times You Xie had said the same thing, so she just nodded gently with her veil still covering her face and went to reunite with Zhan Luo.

Zhan Luo and Ruo Yin were then sent back to Kunlun Mountain, where Zhan Luo's dear friend, Si Ming, had decorated their newlywed room.

When both deities finally arrived at Kunlun Mountain, they sighed as a form of relief. As they both did the same gesture, they looked at each other. Trying not to laugh. No one spoke a word.

After a few minutes, Zhan Luo broke the silence. "I think you are tired. You may use the bed, I can sleep on the floor."

"No..." Before Ruo Yin could continue speaking, she felt herself flustered by the War Deity's startled reaction towards her answer.

Ruo Yin trying to gain back her composure said, "What I meant was that you do not need to sleep on the floor... Wait... that still doesn't sound correct..." she felt her cheeks getting hotter and hotter from her embarrassment, it was a good thing her white veil was still covering her face.

"What I meant was that I could sleep elsewhere. Don't you have a guest room or something of that sort?" Ruo Yin finally spoke. As she waited for an answer that was not coming, she raised her head.

Zhan Luo then grabbed her veil and raised it. Ruo Yin could feel her cheeks exploding from embarrassment.

"My dear wife, do you really think that those deities won't come tomorrow barging into our room to see if we are already husband and wife? Good thing I put a protective barrier around the mountain, so no one could come barging in. But still, I wouldn't bet on it."

Ruo Yin did not know how to answer.

"Yet, it is going to be easier to fool them if we don't need to run half of Kunlun Mountain to reach each other. Don't worry, the only time I will be on your bed, will be tomorrow morning to fool them. Now, sleep tight," Zhan Luo kissed Ruo Yin on her forehead and walked towards his resting chambers.

Ruo Yin was so startled she could not react for a few minutes. When she realized, Zhan Luo was already no longer in sight. She also realized that she did not know where the resting chambers were, so she screamed, "You stupid idiot! How will I sleep tight if you don't guide me to my room!"
