Chapter 9: Was It Really a Two-star Beast?

Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio

With no hesitation, Amy took out a small bag of crystal coins from behind and handed it to Andrew.

Knowing it was unnecessary to stay here any longer, Andrew took the crystal coins and left without saying a word. He might as well continue to look for poisonous creatures in the wild. What's more, he wasn't sure if these guys would take revenge on him once the unicorn was poisoned.

After all, this was the poison of Venomous Dragon, and Andrew was just wondering whether the unicorn would be directly killed by it.

A little later, Amy looked at the trembling unicorn with a worried look on her face. Its entire body was emitting white light.

"Uncle Andy, I can sense the unicorn's discomfort. Is it alright?"

Hearing this, Andy shook his head.

"Don't worry, I'm sure that boy is just a two-star beast tamer, and that giant lizard must be a two-star beast as well. It should be easy for a four-star unicorn to overcome the toxins released by a two-star beast. Normally, the unicorn should be able to recover in less than a minute."

The other two fellows added, "Yes, Amy, don't worry. It's just a two-star beast. Unicorns all have a special ability, which enables them to purify this kind of toxin."

"You're right. I guess that dude left in a hurry because he didn't want to see the toxin of his beast didn't take effect."

These two people were still brooding over what Andrew did just now. They hated him very much.

Amy didn't know how to reply. The only thing she could do was to gaze at the unicorn, anxious and worried.

Time passed slowly.

Ten seconds ... twenty seconds ... half a minute ...

One minute passed ...

The black fumes on the unicorn's body didn't disappear. Instead, it became denser.

The unicorn couldn't even stand steadily. Its front legs knelt on the ground, which shocked everybody.

Why?

Andy stood, frozen in his stance.

What's going on?

Why was it becoming worse?

A unicorn was a four-star beast. Normally, it should be able to detoxify the toxin of a two-star beast. But why it seemed this unicorn was going to die here?

Seeing this, Amy hugged the unicorn's neck in a hurry. She was helpless at the moment.

The other two people were also dumbfounded.

Why?

Although they were all three-star beast tamers, they had never met a situation like this before.

"Don't worry, Amy, I'll use my grass-type beast to help detoxify the toxin." one of them said as he summoned a lotus leaf duck, which cast the detoxification skill on the unicorn.

The other person also summoned a grass-type beast of his and began to detoxify the toxin.

Both of them were three-star beast tamers. So were their grass-type beasts. They were at high levels, and logically speaking, they were able to detoxify the toxin inside the unicorn's body easily.

However, no matter how hard they tried, the black fumes seemed to have rooted into the unicorn's body, which couldn't be removed at all.

The unicorn let out a sorrowful wail as the white light on its body gradually dimmed. It was obvious that its energy was running out.

Amy was completely flustered.

"Uncle Andy, what should we do!"

Her face blushed with anxiety. Tears sprang to her eyes.

Andy, who had been observing the black fumes the whole time, looked a little worried as well. He pondered for a moment and finally made a decision.

"Don't be afraid, Amy. We can go and find that boy. As the tamer of that beast, he must know how to detoxify its toxin."

Andy was helpless when he made this decision. He didn't take it seriously in the first place, because he didn't expect the beast's toxin would be so powerful.

At that moment, Andy didn't care about losing face or getting humiliated anymore. Anyway, he couldn't let the unicorn die here. It was a four-star beast! If it died because of his underestimation of the enemy, Amy's father would probably not let him get away with it, not to mention Amy.

Hearing this, Amy wiped her tears and looked in the direction in which Andrew had gone. "Let's go now!" She nodded.

As for Andrew, after cleaning up the battlefield, he went on his journey.

Since most of the rattlesnakes had escaped, only few of the rattlesnakes were killed by the iron-armored black lizard.

Therefore, Andrew finally obtained a total of eight one-star crystal nuclei. In conclusion, he had suffered a great loss during the attack on the rattlesnakes.

However, thanks to the 100 crystal coins given by Amy, which was worth a two-star crystal nucleus, Andrew had got three two-star crystal nuclei and eight one-star crystal nuclei at the moment, which meant that he had 380 crystal coins.

This was actually a huge amount of money because the average household spending of an ordinary family of three in Alice City was merely 30 crystal coins a year, which meant that Andrew didn't have to work for the rest of his life, and he needn't worry about food and drink anymore.

Just as the lizard was lying on the ground sniffing for poisonous creatures, Andrew heard some noise. He sensed that someone else was walking nearby.

"Come on, again? How did it become so easy to encounter strangers in the wild?"

After Andrew thought for a while, a group of adventurers appeared from the distance.

Andrew took a closer look at them and found that they seemed to be the crowd of people in the Adventurer's Association. It seemed that they had just killed a Ferocious Beast.

"Captain, this 2-star Ferocious Crocodile's crystal nucleus and other materials can be exchanged for at least 100 crystal coins. Let's get some p*ssies tonight and have a good time!" a middle-aged man with an obscene expression on his face said to a tall man beside him.

The other guys began to echo each other.

"You're right, Bob! It took us half a month to finally kill this Ferocious Crocodile. We need to take a rest and have some fun!"

Hearing this, the middle-aged man who was called captain frowned and huffed irritably, "Stop that nonsense! Hurry up! Clean up the battlefield. I heard that there's a nest of rattlesnakes nearby. If they attack us, we're going to kick the bucket here!"

While these people were talking, Andrew and his iron-armored black lizard suddenly appeared from the distance.

"Who's that guy?"

The captain became alert immediately. So did the other group members. They all looked in the same direction.

What?

Some people recognized Andrew.

"Isn't he the fool in the Adventurer's Association? He's still alive?"

"This dude is lucky. He didn't encounter any Ferocious Beasts. Can't believe it!"

"Yeah, but I've never seen the tamed beast next to him before. Looks like a high-star beast."

This team was called Blazing Squad, whose group members were all ordinary beast tamers. Although their captain was a two-star beast tamer, most of the teammates were 1-star beast tamers.

However, the captain of the blazing squad didn't look down on Andrew because of his young age. On the contrary, he came to realize that this boy, who was right in front of him, wasn't merely an ordinary beast tamer.

"Hey, bro, you're just passing by, right?"

Captain Jake raised his hands and shouted.

Andrew glanced at him from afar and nodded without saying a word, which seemed like a silent greeting.

Seeing this, these group members felt offended.

"This dude must be crazy. Doesn't he know when two adventurers meet in the wild, they should raise their hands to show their friendliness?"

"Ha, I guess he was so scared right now that he didn't dare to speak. He wanted to beg us to bring him back, but he didn't dare to."

As everyone was talking, another group of people suddenly appeared.
