Chapter 24: Far from home
"Oh my God...somebody call the ambulance !!"
The old lady screamed .

She felt it, the soft and gentle satin wings caressed her face while she slowly awakened, it scared the butterfly and she watched it flap away. The beautiful blue sky was the next thing her eyes beheld , the white clouds above her and how they slowly moved with time drawing on the sky with their bodies. Her skin felt comfortable, she could tell she laid on flowers , it prompted her to sit up , to have a better view of nature's art. She saw its multicolored moods spread across the field represented by flowers of all sorts. It was beautiful, she smiled. Daffodils and Lilies , sunflowers and jasmine, she took in a deep breath shutting her eyes once more feeling the soothing sensation of the sun on her skin , she laid back on the flowers. She wanted to be there forever, she loved it there, she smiled broadly, spreading her hands apart and enjoying the moment.
"Miss.. Miss…"
She heard , she opened her eyes in curiosity to tell whose voice it was but only met with what shut them back. She used her hand to prevent the brightness from piercing in her eyes, it was as though the sun all of a sudden had decided to have a closer look at her.
..."miss.. can you hear me?"
The voice asked.
She blinked her eyes till she found herself somewhere entirely different from her paradise. She felt weak and saw the lips of a male saying words she couldn't quite hear.
"I think she's back"
He voiced with a smile of relief. He had his face close to hers , almost like he was trying to see through her flashing a small sized torch at her eyes. She blinked further to brighten her vision.
..." Where am i?"
She heard herself ask.
"Not to worry, you're safe . You're in a hospital. You were found unconscious in the ladies'"
The man explained. She fixed her eyes on him and could tell he was the doctor , he was in his coat looking professional . She bent her neck slightly trying to zoom in his face with her eyes. He was a fine man. He noticed how she stared at him but took no offense.
.." Get her pills "
He instructed the lady standing at the other end of the bed. She turned her head towards the lady and saw she was in a nurse's uniform . She exited the room at once leaving them both .
" What happened , doctor "
She asked again, trying to sit up.
"Woah woah.. you need to calm down. Do not force it. Allow your body recover and you'll be out of here in no time"
He said helping her lay back on the bed.
…" And to your question, I really don't have the answer to it but you recognize that I am a doctor , means your amnesia isn't a critical one. "
He added with a smile.
.."amnesia ? How did I get amnesia?"
She muttered rolling her head from side to side on the bed.
"I still don't have the answer to that but what I do know is you'll be fine and it's just a matter of time, you'll have your memories popping back. I could have assumed your head hit too hard on the floor when you fell but the results showed the bruise on your head wasn't severe enough for it to have been the case . However, you lost some memories, core memories actually, couldn't make sense of how , but what matters is you're alive and that's enough hope"
He replied to her. His voice was so calm and soothing but his words somewhat reminded her senses of the pain around the side of her head. She tried to move it and could feel something strapped around it. She stopped trying.
' but was that his real voice?'
He spoke in a British accent , the job seemed perfect for him.
"Don't push too hard.. It's healing. What is your name? Can you tell?"
He asked her.
She struggled to think, but her memory gave nothing.
"I do not remember"
She voiced .
"It's okay, you eventually will "
He assured her with a warm smile.
…"We put your details out there for family and Friends to come get you but nobody came. I suppose you're alone and have nowhere to go"
He added.
She sighed .
"I couldn't tell.."
She said,
Just then the nurse returned with the pills .
"I don't need those"
She said, fixing her eyes on the pills.
"Of Course you do, they'd help"
He advised.
"Pills never really work. If they did, more pills wouldn't be made for the same illness. They just pause the symptoms for a while until it's back again "
She spoke stressfully.
The doctor and nurse appeared to be shocked by her words. He looked to the nurse and said with a smile ,
"This is amazing.."
"What's amazing?"
April asked.
" You… obviously your personality traits are still very much intact and at work , it's almost like you remember who you are but not all that you are and it's just amazing. You're a rare case I must confess,I mean, you lost core memories, this is ...great . Undoubtedly, I believe recovering them wouldn't be a problem for you "
He replied to her. She saw in his eyes he was pleased.
"Hmm, so when am I getting discharged ?"
She asked him.
"You've been here for two days, Your vitals are fine, it was just a fall, you sustained a bruise on your head, which is healing, an amnesia which obviously is partial and so, you can be discharged only when you promise to keep up with your medications as prescribed "
He said , handing over to her the pills.
She reluctantly collected it.
…" Instructions are clearly written , exceeding the required dose will not help jolt back your memories but worsen things for you. There, you've got painkillers for your head, and the others will help with your memory . "
He explained.
"Okay, I promise, can I be discharged now?"
She asked. He smiled at her.
" No need to lie, you'll be discharged tomorrow morning and I will have you stay at my place till someone comes for you , so I would be making sure, you take those pills"
He replied to her. She sighed, rolling her eyes. Both the doctor and nurse gave a brief laugh.
'His laugh… perfect.. his dentition was perfect..his dimples popped and his jaw came down, he had thin green eyes, or were those contacts? His lips were highly defined , but why is it all happening in a slow mo'
"Hey.."
He called.
"Yea?"
She replied
"I asked if you had any questions?"
He told her.
"Oh..no "
She said,
"Okay then, will let you rest now, see you in the morning"
He told her as he turned to leave.

"And... you're welcome to my humble abode "
The doc said having opened up the door for her to go in . He held on to some stuff he had gotten from the grocery store , she walked in having a view of the place and he did the same shutting the door behind him.
"It's lovely.."
She voiced.
"Oh ..thank you"
He replied, moving quickly into the kitchen to drop the items.
…"and big"
She added turning around. He heard her , and he moved out to where she was also taking a view of the space.
" Yea, I figured "
He voiced .
There he was, time slowed down again. He wasn't looking official today, he was in a White quarter sleeve body fit polyester T- shirt and blue jean trousers .
'how does he have the time to hit the gym?'
She said in her head , marveled by his body.
He lifted up his face looking around like it wasn't the house he had been living in . He had his hands in his pocket. His hair was neatly cut low but not too low, the waves still fell on each other , his nose was pointy and straight , perfection .
"You live alone?"
She asked .
"I don't think so"
He smiled.
.." Have got a friend , Julian, but he isn't in town, so am pretty much stuck with jack "
He added.
"Jack? Who's jack?"
She asked.
Just then, a dog came running towards him, wagging its tail in excitement . He went down on one knee , and the dog danced it's tongue all over his face .
It seemed to have missed him much.
She smiled watching them. He carried the dog up with both hands pointing it at her. She saw its penis , the sight of it made her smile broadly, shaking her head.
"We've got a new guest , be nice to her"
He said,
She moved closer to the dog smiling and tried to touch it's little nose.
"It's so adorable.."
She said,
"Go on… touch him"
He told her.
She touched its head and it loved it, she moved on to rubbing on it gently. It made sounds of pleasure.
"I think he likes you..*
He said as he made a move to drop him down. The dog circled about her wagging its tail , she was excited by it. She bent down to play with it for a bit and it fell on its back with it's legs apart. She tickled on it for a while. He watched them and he smiled.
"So.. your girlfriend doesn't come by? I do not want to be any trouble"
She said, looking up at him as she stood . He smiled.
" I had a girlfriend"
He said.
"Okay?"
She asked to know more.
"She died"
He stated.
*Woah..wow.. I did not see that coming, I'm so sorry.."
She said, blinking her eyes in shock.
"No, it's fine. Lost her to cancer and I couldn't save her . She didn't let me know till it was too late"
He narrated . She could tell he wasn't healed yet as his eyes blinked nervously while he spoke.
..."Come on, I'll show you to your room"
He smiled, directing with his head. She followed him.

" Wow.. it's beautiful.."
She said, stepping into the room and glancing at every corner.
"You like it?"
He asked.
"I do.. "
She voiced .
"Am glad you do. This was her room. She picked this one and gave it the feminine touch. Said she liked that it wasn't too far up the stairs . I couldn't change it back, I just let it be, sometimes when I think about her, I come here, take a seat and reminisce"
He said,
She smiled, turning to look at him.
"Are you okay with me being here?"
She asked him.
" This is the only room not masculine in this building. Am okay.. been a while since I had a feminine presence gracing the house and I'm glad that you trust me enough to stay"
He answered.
She smirked .
"I don't have a choice"
She said,
"Everyone does"
He told her.
..."Alright, settle in, I'd cook breakfast, when you're done, come tell me how good I am"
He said, turning to leave with a smile on his face.
"Wait…"
She voiced. He paused and turned to her.
"Yes?"
He asked.
"I don't know your name "
She said,
"Oh.. so sorry, forgive my manners, I'm Titrus , sounds sort of weird so people call me Tee instead .
Doctor T . "
He said.
"Ok… thank you, Tee "
She smiled . He smiled back.
" You don't have to. It's a crazy world out there. I couldn't just let you be out there "
He replied.
"Thanks.. can I ask a question?"
She enquired.
…"what day is it?"
She asked.
"Oh, it's a Wednesday, the 8th of March , 2027 "
