Chapter 2: Chapter 2

'Huh? Where is this place?' Evan Young was greeted with the view of a forest where the sun would set pretty soon. Although the idea about (isekai) was not something new to him, for it to happen to him still caught him by surprise.

Evan quickly turned around, but it was too late as the door was no longer there. All there's left was woods with nothing else but eerie silence. For a moment here, Evan wanted to shout for help, but he had the premonition that he'd die faster if he did.

His heart was beating much faster than how it should be. To Evan Young right now, nothing is more vital than keeping himself alive.

'Think... Evan Young... This is something dad taught me when I'm still a kid!' Evan Young slapped his own face hard to calm himself from all the fear that's been building up inside him.

'Sunlight!' Evan Young immediately tried to get the last grasp of where the sun was setting before he recognized the direction to the north. Using that as a rough pinpoint on where he should go, Evan Young took the swiss utility knife out from his pocket and started walking.

He knew that he'd be at a disadvantage as he had zero knowledge about this world. But that doesn't mean he would give up right away. No matter how much of a loser he looked, Evan Young was still confident with his survival skill in the wild.

'Don't tell me... All the gruesome training dad made me went through was all for this?' Evan Young picked up his speed as he moved swiftly in the woods.

And during his journey north, Evan Young noticed a few extraordinary things. From worms about his leg latching on the trees to beetles about his head feasting on tree sap. This is a straight fantasy world, in his opinion.

And to make it worst, it seems insect wasn't the only dangerous thing in this forest. Occasionally, the howling sound from wolves would accompany him as he continued to move forward. There are also some cries from little things, akin to children's crying all around him.

'There's light!' Evan Young was happy and worried when he noticed some orange-looking light a few meters ahead of him. The suspicion in his mind made Evan slow down and sneak closer to where the light came from.

But he was shocked as he saw a group of four goblins was surrounding two males. One of them was older, which is likely the senior or father to the younger male. As for the younger male, he looked not more than fifteen years old.

But of them were dressed in simple tunic and pants made from hemp-fiber sewn together. Nothing else around them indicates that both are likely heading to their destination on foot. And from the two meat skewers near the fire, they should be in the middle of having their dinner when the goblin attacked.

"Ah!" the older man groaned as he got a cut around his shoulder. While the goblin that got him injured seems to be jumping happily from hurting their enemies.

"Father!" the younger male seems to be addressing this male intimately. But again, this was something expected. If they're not father and son, who would simply bring along a youngster still reek with his mother's milk out in the wild?

Even Evan Young's parents forbid him to come to this place until both of them passed away. This itself explained how dangerous could this place be.

"Father, I'm not hungry anymore. Let's escape from them and return to the village." said the youngster.

"How many times do I have to repeat myself? When we're fighting against goblins, do not escape from them. You won't be able to outrun them. Stay behind me and protect my back," said the father.

*Gobuji!*

The goblin that happily jumped around suddenly vanished without a trace. All that was left was the knife that used to injure the father.

As its disappearance was too sudden, the remaining three goblins had no idea that one of them was missing. While all their attention was on one another, Evan Young took this opportunity to see what can he do to help the father and son.

Searching the one-meter tall green monster for anything useful allowed Evan to understand their anatomy and the best method to get rid of them. Goblins were considered the weakest monster after slime, but their threat level varies according to their number and equipment.

*Buji!*

One of the three remaining goblins lost its patience and attacked using the wooden club in its hand. Although it was much weaker than an iron sword, the length and thickness itself allowed this weapon to confidently face a sword for a while before losing all its durability.

*Ding!*

The sound of weapons clashed brought the second goblin forward with a dagger in its hands. And at the same time, it got Evan to come out from his hiding spot as well.

Holding the goblin's dagger on his right and the utility knife on his left, Evan Young beautifully planted the goblin's dagger through the monster's throat and claimed its life. His participation surprised both parties with how swift he executed the goblin.

His sudden participation also gave a chance to the travelers as the father pushed his son to Evan Young. Without cumbersome baggage like his kid, this allowed the father to fight seriously against the two zombies.

The father killed the two remaining goblins in mere minutes before he wiped the bloodstain from his sword.

"This young brother, I'm thankful for your help. If you do not mind me asking, where are you heading to?" the father asked.

"Well... To be very honest with you... I'm actually lost. I don't even know where I'm at right now." Evan Young said. From his appearance and clueless expression, the father and son traveler could effortlessly see that Evan wasn't lying.

"In that case, what about coming with us back to our village first? I can slowly show you where you're at using the map I have back in our house." the father said.

"In that case, I'll be bothering both of you a little more," said Evan Young.
