Chapter 19: Who are you?

Dalia was quite impressed by the entire room where Martina was resting. There were two huge windows covered with creams curtains, two standardized square tables on both sides.

If she wasn't mistaken, it must be a queen's sized bedroom with everything inside. Bathroom, a closet filled with expensive, limited editions clothes, bags, and shoes.

It was every woman's dream and she hoped she could have some of it in the near future. But it was impossible as she needed to pay her parents' debt that was left in the air for three years.

Dalia pulled the chair closer to the sleeping beauty. Her heart was at peace when she heard that Martine would be okay after getting some rest. How she wished she could bring back the time and amend her actions.

However, the past is past. It happened without anyone's knowledge. No one should be blamed but the irresponsible driver who hit Martina's foot earlier.

"Huh, I should talk to you," She said, squeezing her palms gently. Her face turned pale as she tried to reach Martina's injured foot. "Take a rest, Martina. As soon as you wake up, we'll talk about our friendship. Do you understand?"

She spoke with a woman who was unconscious at the moment. Dalia caressed her soft, thin cheeks and tucked away a few strands of her hair.

Martina looked like a goddess while she was sleeping. There wasn't any trace of sadness but Dalia knew her friends missed someone she had never met before.

If only she forced Martina that day, she should have seen the man who caught Martina's attention. She should have at least given her some advice to overcome longing and sadness.

Gasping for air, Dalia suddenly heard loud footsteps coming towards Martina's room. Her brows furrowed, thinking that it might be a thief or a murderer.

She then quickly stood up from the chair. Took steps closer to the side table and picked up her phone.

"I should have called your mother! For heaven's sake, why I am feeling this way?"

Her knees were trembling in fear. She was sweating profusely, stomping her feet on the ground. Dalia was frightened as the footsteps became louder and sharper.

She was aware that a stranger helped them out. The mansion was quite stunning but there was a part of her that seemed strange and alarming.

"Come on, Auntie Mary! Please pick up the phone, now!" Dalia said eagerly.

But Mary Green didn't notice that she was calling out of nowhere. She was still in the school where she taught for how many years. There was no way she could answer it.

"W-what should I do? Someone is coming!"

Martina didn't know anything. She was peacefully sleeping, hoping that everything would be okay the moment she woke up.

After all, it was her fault for thinking about herself alone. She didn't notice that she was pushing people away and thought no one could ever understand her feelings.

She had been living a simple life after she graduated from college, but her parents wanted big from her.

Expectations led Martina to darkness. She became a secretive daughter she wasn't before. Her one, last wish didn't happen because of that incident. The day where she met the alpha.

*knock*

*knock*

Someone suddenly knocked on the door surprised Dalia. She thought she was going to die because of the horrifying noise that sounded off around the room.

At first, she was reluctant to ask who it would be. But she was convinced when Dalia remembered the hunk man she saw earlier.

"I-it must be him!" She whispered, biting her fingers like a little girl.

Dalia frighteningly walked closer to the door, listening to her heartbeat. She didn't know what to do but she saw long steel on the corner as she quickly grabbed it as a weapon for self-defense.

Her knees were shuddering but she did her best to reach the doorknob.

*knock*

*knock*

"Who are you?" Dalia screamed, swallowing her saliva. She thought she could conquer the fear in her chest but when the doorknob sounded, she exaggeratedly fell to the floor.

"No! Don't you dare enter inside!" She yelled at the top of her lungs, expecting it was an intruder. The mansion's security was enough to catch the culprit before stealing even a small thing inside of the house.

She then held the steel tightly, waiting for the person who was trying to get inside. "I said back off!"

But as fast as a light of thunder, the man entered inside, caressing his chin. He took steps closer to Martina and didn't notice there was a woman on the floor, waiting to hit him.

He was walking with his head held high which gave Dalia the chance to catch him in action. She held her breath back, standing silently until she slipped into the floor.

"Damn it! Out of all places!" She complained.

And upon lifting her head, she was almost killed due to being scared. She screamed, crawled backward away from him.

"S-stay away from me!"

"I said, stay away from me, intruder!"

Dalia was shouting continuously which annoyed the man in front of him. She tried harder to get closer to Martina as she was afraid he might hurt her friend while she was asleep.

But sudden laughter caught her attention and brought her back to her senses. Dalia blinked her eyes, staring carefully at him.

She couldn't believe it! He was the man who helped them but she dared to hurt a good samaritan like him.

Dalia wanted to disappear from that room. The air became poisonous as it almost suffocate her to death. Her face turned scarlet and couldn't utter a single word that appropriate in the situation she was dealing with.

"Forgive me, young lady but I think you are mistaken. Am I right?" He said calmly. "By the way, let me introduce myself to you."

"No, I should be the one asking for forgiveness! I thought you're a thief or an evil man who's trying to hurt us or steal anything from this breathtaking house!" Dalia explained her side. "I'm sorry for thinking that way."

The man chuckled. He found it more sincere than his previous relationship, yet, he still insisted on formally introducing himself to her.

Before he utter a word, he cleared his throat, standing straight, and put his hands on his pocket.

His eyes glinted as he faced Dalia who was still seating on the floor.

He said, "Brian Dobinson. How about you?"

Out of nowhere, Dalia suddenly felt a strong, strange feeling. The moment she heard his name, she knew he was connected to the man that Martina was looking for.

"Who are you?" Dalia thought as no words came out of her mouth.
