Chapter 2: Chapter 2

Frank Sinatra groaned as he reached for the alarm on the table beside his bed. He turned it, off groaned again and sat up in bed.

Fuck another Monday.

He rubbed his palms across his face and groaned for the third time. He hated Mondays; in fact he hated his job.

He hated wearing a suit, hated sitting like an uptight fool in an office and also hated watching other suit wearing imbecciles troop into his office for a meeting or whatever.

He was only doing all these for his father. He loved his old man maybe a bit too much to have evenagreed with his plan.

Before he had become the CEO of his father's company he was a traveller, a nobody you might call him.

Nobody had known he was a Sinatra. Nobody had known he was the son of the business mogul James Sinatra. That was because right from an early age Frank had learned to distance himself from his father.

Maybe it was because up till now he still blamed his father for his mother's death.

He didn't care what anyone thought about him. He didn't like his last name and he didn't like working in a company.

His father saw him as a failure.

It had hurt him at first the way his father thought about him. To his father he was just a young man who had been born to him by mistake.

Frank had concluded a long time ago that there was nothing he could do. If his father had wanted to see him as a casualty, so be it.

He just didn't want to sit in an office staring blankly at a computer, getting work headaches and coming back late.

No.

He preferred touring the world. He liked the wind playing with his hair, the sun on his body and the earth under his feet. It sounded comical for a grown up man like him but these where the things he loved.

A month ago his father was on his death bed and had called for him. Frank was surprised because the last time his father had called for him he had been nineteen years old.

Frank had come. He couldn't disobey his old man, not now that he was dying.

He could still remember his old man's words clearly in his head.

Son i want you to stop for a moment and think about your future. Forget the tits, the booze, the women, and the adventure. concenterate on preserving the family business son, i beg of you.

Frank couldn't say no, he couldn't reject a dying man's wish. For the first time in his life he couldn't disobey his father.

He agreed and had watched as a slow smile had played across his father's face. At that moment Frank knew that even after every emotional pain they had both caused themselves Frank still loved his father very much.

Now Frank had given up everything to obey his father's wishes. He wasn't happy with what he was doing but if that meant seeing his father happy he would do it.

There was a knock at his bedroom door.

"Come in" he said.

The door opened and his assistant stepped inside. She was just the way he liked them, young and hot.

Her hair fell in golden locks across her shoulders and her blue eyes were sparkling.

"Good morning Mr Frank, your breakfast is ready".

"Oh, I'll be down in a few minutes let me freshen up"

"Okay" she replied turning to leave.

"By the way Annabelle, you look ravishing." Frank purred.

Annabelle giggled and left the room.

Frank got up from the bed. He had quite a hectic morning ahead of him.

Twenty minutes later after a hurried breakfast he found himself in traffic jam.

Frank didn't know what it was with the city and traffic jams but it was starting to become a ritual every morning.

Frank honked his horn in frustration and sighed. His phone rang and he answered.

"Where are you Frank?" a voice said coldly.

"I'm in a traffic Harris" Frank replied making sure he had stressed the traffic.

"You know we are supposed to have a meeting with the associates by ten and the CEO needs to be present" Harry said in a steel voice.

Frank knew Harris enough to know that his face was carrying a very ugly scowl, at the moment.

"I'm in traffic Harris, what you want me to do, you want me to fly" Frank said.

"If you can, do so" Harris replied sarcastically.

"Why don't you come over here and fly me then" Frank said his voice rising.

"Shut the hell up and haul your ass over here "Harris finished ending the call.

Frank growled and returned his phone to his pocket.

He hated this job and he hated his uncle. He hooted his horn in frustration and watched in disbelief as

the driver of the car in front of him gave him an f finger.

"Good morning Mr Frank his secretary greeted warmly as he waved at her and entered the conference room.

Apparently he had walked in on something important because everyone was now had their eyes on him.

"Hey fellas'' he greeted.

"Look who decided to join us" Harris said from his seat.

"I'm sorry i was in a traffic jam frank said as he headed over to his seat."

"That's what you say whenever you enter into this place late" Harris snorted.

Frank had never felt like lobbing his shoe at Harris the way he had felt at that moment. In the end he decided that throwing comebacks at his uncle wouldn't diminish the case, for one it would only ignite the fire that was burning in his uncle's eyes.

So he chose the more cautious approach.

"I'm sorry for being late."

Apparently Harris did not expect the reply and looked a bit flustered.

"Please continue Leo" the uncle said to the company's tech expert who was showing them a diagram Frank could barely understand.

Ten minutes into the meeting and Frank felt like dying. His eyes felt heavy and were already halfway to closing and to make, matters worse Leos constant droning was not making issues any better.

There was a round of applause around him and Frank started awake to see everyone clapping at something Leo had said.

"That's a brilliant idea" he heard someone say.

"Don't you think so, Frank? Harris asked.

"Oh, yeah, yeah it is" Frank nodded vigorously as he joined in the applause.

Frank hoped the meeting was soon going to end.

He watched as a member of the company they were about to partner with stepped out and replace Leo on his spot.

He groaned.

The man began droning and that was when Frank realized that he couldn't take another bit of the meeting.

"Excuse me but i have to use the restroom" he said standing up from his seat and faking a smile at Harris who was looking daggers at him.

Frank hurried to the restroom and splashed cold water on his face.

Christ these meetings could kill. His phone rang and he looked at it solemnly

It was Harris.

"What is it?"

"Haul your ass back in here i know what you are trying to do" Harris snarled on the phone.

Before Frank could reply Harris cut.

Frank growled took in a deep breath and returned to the conference room.

By the time the meeting was over it was 7pm and frank was sure he had gotten a sore ass.

He couldn't believe he had almost spent the whole day inside the conference room.

He headed over to his office and began packing the paperwork for tomorrow into a suitcase, he needed to make sure he turned it in the next day if not Harris would be at his neckBut as now he had a very important place where he needed to be.

"You're leaving early Mr Frank" his secretary said as he exited his office.

"Yes Beauty i think i have a migraine"

"Oh I'm so sorry about that do you want a massage?"

Frank turned down the offer regretfully.

"You could give the massage tomorrow though over at my place" Frank said toothily

Beauty gave him a skeptical look.

"Never mind Frank" said leaving the reception area."

***************************************

He positioned himself in such a way that his target wouldn't spot him. From his position he could see the front of the bank clearly. Nobody could enter or leave without him spotting the person.

The radio that was attached to his belt crackled with an incoming directive.

"All units advance to Stafford Bank; this is a code 10-31. I repeat a code 10-31, approach with caution. He had been able to get the transmission signal of the police radio which meant that he could listen to the police at any time.

He knew that there was no way that the police would get here on time.

It was up to him.

He watched the bank carefully his eyes never leaving the doors of the bank.

He felt excited, he felt thrilled, and he felt alive.

Suddenly the doors of the bank burst open and three men scrambled down the steps, bags of money gripped firmly in one of each of their hands. On closer inspection he noticed that one of the men had a gun in his right hand.

There was a screech of tires from somewhere in the distance and he watched as a car zoomed into the banks parking lot.

Fuck. He hadn't been expecting a getaway car.

He needed to act now.

He left his hiding position and sprinted towards them. He needed to intercept them before they reached the car, but first he needed to take out he man with the gun, he was the most dangerous.

One of the men spotted him and yelled alerting his friends to his presence.Too late, he was already within inches of nailing them.

The man with the gun fired and missed. Before he could fire another shot he had reached him and kicked the gun out of his hand.

Without missing a beat he drove his fist into the man's face and watched as he fell rolling down the steps probably unconscious.

The second man sprang into action and swung the bag containing money at him. He ducked, came up before the man had time to recover and swung his leg at the man's knee. It connected, he heard a snap and the man fell screaming and clutching his knee.

The third man was already sprinting for the car abandoning his two friends. He reached the car and got in and immediately the car accelerated forward.

Hell no.

He pulled his gun out of his waist, took a deep breath and fired twice.

One of the tires of the getaway car burst and he shot again this time aiming for the other tyre.

He nailed it and watched as the car swerved out of control before finally hitting a street lamp which was situated inside the parking lot.

He heard sirens and watched as the first of the police cars entered the banks gate.

"Who the fuck are you" the man on the groaned cradling his knee which looked dislocated."Tell the city that the renegade watches." he said to the man on the ground.

He ran west, scaled the bank walls and was gone.

***************************

Frank opened the door of his house and sighed. He really needed a drink badly and a bath, yeah a hot bath would totally relax his nerves.

He dropped the suitcase containing tomorrow's paperwork and headed over to the bar in his living room to pour himself a drink.

He opened a bottle of bourbon and took a swig. He felt the familiar heat wash through him.

"Is this what you wanted, Dad" he said to the empty house.

He laughed; he was starting to talk to the walls of his house. He stood up and looked around him; he really needed excitement in the house.

He sighed and headed over to his room for the hot bath.
