Chapter 40: Meeting Death

Destiny couldn't help but frown when she found herself standing over a wasteland… No matter how far she looked, there was nothing in sight, except nothing. Destiny was an extremely good Occlumen. So, she knew the difference between dreams and reality… and her current surroundings felt much more like reality than dreams…

Destiny couldn't help but feel slightly at the edge. After all, she remembered that she was staying at a Muggle Hotel and she does not remember waking up… Yes, it was possible that someone might have bypassed all of the Wards she had erected around the room and kidnapped her, but Destiny did not believe that she had been kidnapped.

After all, she wasn't bound nor she have anyone in her sights…

"Technically, I did kidnap you" Destiny heard an amused feminine voice from behind her. She immediately turned around and flicked her hand toward the voice, but Destiny's eyes grew wide when nothing happened. She could feel her Magic swirling inside her body, so her Magic wasn't suppressed. She flicked her hand and her Wand appeared in her hand.

Destiny jabbed her hand toward the figure, but once again nothing happened. Destiny was completely horrified, after all, Magic was a part important part of her whole being and now it wasn't working. Obviously, anyone in her place would be horrified. The figure giggled sweetly in amusement and for the first time, Destiny decided to take a good look at the said figure, and once again, her eyes grew wide in surprise as soon as she laid her eyes on the figure…

The figure was pale… inhumanely pale. Whoever this person was, she was not a human. Destiny was getting the same oppressive feeling she had felt from the giant woman inside Albus' mind, but the feeling was much stronger. Destiny couldn't explain the difference between the two figures in simple words… If the giant woman's power was a small pond, then this woman's power would be a planet of the size of Jupiter filled with water…

Yes, the difference in the power was simply incomprehensible… 'Is this the power of Gods?' Destiny asked in horror as she gulped loudly. Even when she encountered the giant woman, she wasn't terrified, but right now, she was terrified at the sight of this beautiful pale woman. The last time she was this terrified was when she was put on the stake by the Muggles.

The woman smirked as she started to approach Destiny and Destiny was so terrified that her legs refused to move. The woman's silver eyes were sparkling in with mirth, the woman didn't have any pupils, which was kind of disturbing, but enchanting and beautiful at the same time. The woman flicked her silver hair… The hair bounced on the top of the woman's head. Even though Destiny was terrified of the woman, she couldn't help but stare at the woman…

The woman was dressed in a pair of midnight blue leather lingerie along with a pair of elbow-length gloves and thigh-high boots of the same material and color. A midnight blue cape reaching down to her knees was hanging down from her back. Several golden skulls were adorning her clothes… if her lingerie could be called that. The woman was wearing crimson lipstick on her lips and the color of her lipstick matched the color of Destiny's eyes and hair…

"Fufufu… Destiny Grindelwald, you do not need to fear me" The woman giggled softly as she finally stopped in front of Destiny.

'She knows my name… Fuck! Of course, she knows my name!!' Destiny screamed inside her mind. To be honest, she was freaking out right now. "Who are you?" After a few moments of silence, Destiny was finally able to regain her wits. Destiny realized that she needed to grip, if she was going to die, then she would going to die with her head held high. She wasn't going to die cowering or begging…

The woman smiled "I am Death. I am the physical representation of the Concept of Death" The woman said with a grin and her eyes flashed eerily for a moment.

Destiny gaped at the woman while opening and closing her mouth with a dumb look on her face. Destiny never thought that the woman was lying, after all, a strong woman like her wouldn't need to lie and Destiny also realized why the woman seemed to be so smitten with skulls. The woman was Death so her love for skulls was also pretty understandable.

"Don't tell me it is already my time?" Destiny asked curiously. Anyone in her shoes would be afraid, but Destiny wasn't like the others. After all, she had already decided that she wasn't going to die cowering or begging. She also knew that there would be no negotiations if it was really her time and she would go out in dignity… Yes, she would feel bad for leaving the world so soon, but there was not much she could do…

The woman chuckled softly… "No… no… You still have a very long time in front of you. You still have a great many things to do" The woman said in an amused tone and Destiny couldn't help but raise her eyebrows in question.

"So, what do you want from me?" Destiny asked in a bewildered tone. Since the literal physical representation of Death said that it wasn't her time to die yet, she started to wonder what the entity wanted from her. After all, she had never tried to cheat death… 'It might have something to do with the Deathly Hallows…' Destiny guessed with an unsure look on her face.

"There is something I do want from you… I want you to become my Avatar" Death grinned as she traced Destiny's cheek with her finger. Destiny noticed that Death was way more taller than her even though she was on the taller side when it came to women.

Destiny inclined her head with a confused look on her face. "Avatar?" Destiny did not understand what being Death's Avatar meant.

"Have you heard of Apostles?" Death asked and after getting a nod from Destiny, Death decided to continue. "Being a God's Avatar is something like that. We are extremely strong beings, I am a Concept, so we cannot interact with mortal World's directly…" Death started to explain and Destiny finally understood what Death was getting at.

"It's not like we cannot interact with the mortal world, we simply don't. After all, if I physically appear in a world, then everything in the world would die due to my presence and my aura… Now, you might be wondering how are you alive, right? That is because you aren't here and neither am I… At least, not physically. I don't have the patience to explain everything…" Death shrugged with a bored look on her face and Destiny couldn't help but stare at Death incredulously…

"Hence, we need an Agent to work in our stead. That is what an Avatar is…" Death finally finished her explanation and for the next few seconds, Destiny continued to stare at Death with a neutral look on her face.

"…You want me to become your slave?" Destiny asked with a nod of her head.

Death started to chuckle after hearing Destiny's question. "Slave is a way too strong word for what I am offering you… If you really want to compare, then Servant would be a much more fitting word" Death said with a thoughtful look on her face.

Destiny frowned, so Death decided to elaborate. "You will be free to do whatever you want with your life, I am not going to tell you how to live your life…" Death trailed off with a suggestive look on her face and Destiny decided to finish the sentence.

"But I will be at your beck and call" Destiny nodded her head in understanding and Death beamed at Destiny with a proud look on her face.

"You are smart, I knew I made the right choice" Death puffed out her chest in pride, making her already impressive chest stand out even more. Destiny couldn't help but stare at Death's chest with a glazed look in her eyes. Death smirked at the display, but didn't say anything else. After a few moments, Destiny finally realized what she was doing and shook her head to clear her mind.

"You would be more like an Agent on a Contract, but the Contract would be of the permanent type" Death added with a smile.

"What would these jobs entail?" Destiny asked curiously. She wasn't going to lie, she did find the whole offer interesting if it was really what Death was offering. After all, there was a chance that Death was lying to her to make the offer seem more enticing. Even if Death was lying, there wasn't much Destiny would be able to do, after all, what could you even do to a being like Death? Additionally, she also did not know what she needed to do if she accepted the Job.

"You see, there are always some people who would try to escape me by some unofficial means. They need to go. Sometimes, a single species could be a danger to the rest of the system. They also need to go… Things like that" Death explained offhandedly. There was much more to the Job she was offering, but Death decided that revealing everything right now would be too much for Destiny to handle. After all, at the end of the day, she was still a mortal no matter how promising she was…

"A whole species?" Destiny couldn't help but ask in horror and Death looked at Destiny with a weird look on her face.

"According to you, the Mundanes are a different species, aren't they?" Death asked in an amused tone and Destiny couldn't help but scowl at the comparison.

"But I am not planning to wipe out all of them" Destiny growled and the smile on Death's face widened after hearing Destiny's words.

"True, but you will wipe them out if it came to that" Death retorted in an amused tone, and once again Destiny couldn't help but scowl. Death was right, she would happily wipe out all the Muggles if it came to that. There was nothing Destiny wouldn't do to achieve her dream… Killing off all the Muggles wasn't that big of a deal, especially when she already hated the Muggles with her very being…

"You have made your point" Destiny admitted unhappily and Death grinned brightly, making Destiny scowl once again.

"That is not the only case… Just imagine what would happen if the mosquitoes start to mutate and turn into some sort of intelligent creatures?" Death asked and Destiny finally realized the problem. If the mosquitoes mutate into intelligent creatures then it would lead to the end of all the living species with blood.

"So, what do you think?" Death asked when she saw that Destiny finally understood that the death of a single species could mean the survival of the rest of the species.

Even though Destiny found the Job to be quite enticing, she did not know what to say... After all, it was a huge decision for her. "Can I have some time to think?" Destiny asked nervously. Until now, Death had been treating her nicely, but now that she wasn't sure if she should accept the offer or not, Death might no longer be cordial with her.

But Death decided to surprise Destiny. "Sure, you can all the time you want. After all, I am not going anywhere and you have a long life in front of you. Just remember that can only make the decision when you are still alive…" Death grinned and Destiny nodded her head in understanding.

Death's reaction was way better than what she was expecting, Destiny finally released the breath she had been holding until now. "Oh… there is something I forgot to ask" Destiny suddenly remembered something important. She had forgotten to ask Death about her rewards. After all, she needed to get something in return, like a salary, especially when Death clearly mentioned that she wasn't going to be a slave…

Death raised her silver brows in question. Destiny took that as an indication to continue… "What about my salary?" Destiny asked and Death inclined her head with a confused look on her face. Destiny internally huffed at Death's incredulous look and decided to elaborate. She would have said something snarky, but her life was on the line here. "You said that I am not going to be your slave… So what do I get in return if I become your Avatar?" Destiny asked and a look of realization finally dawned on Death's face…

"Ah… Forgive me, I forgot to mention the perks you will receive. They are the main highlights of the Job… Maybe you will change your mind" Death muttered playfully as she started to walk around Destiny, inspecting the shorter woman. Death could have mentioned the perks Destiny would receive after accepting the Job, but she decided not to mention them. She wanted to mention the perks some other time to entice Destiny, but now that Destiny had already asked the question…

"First of all, you will receive Immortality and I mean literal Immortality. Not Eternal Youth or something, but True Immortality. No matter what, you will not die. As long as the Concept of Death exists, you will not die…" Death explained dramatically. Destiny had to admit that True Immortality is really enticing, but it could be a double-edged sword… If someone trapped her then her True Immortality would end being her Hell…

Any lesser human would have already accepted the offer, but Destiny wasn't any lesser human. She badly wanted to have True Immortality, but the risks were really scary. Death also noticed that look Destiny was giving her and it made her internally sigh in disappointment. 'This is the problem with intelligent people…' Death sighed. 'They quickly realize the problem with True Immortality…' Death decided to move on to the next perk because it was clear that Destiny wasn't hooked on True Immortality…

"You will receive my Authority… You will also receive the Power of Rot. If anything and I mean anything comes in contact with the Power of Rot, then it will rot away" Death explained with a grin and she didn't miss the glint in Destiny's eyes when she mentioned the Power of Rot.

"Authority, what do you mean by Authority?" Destiny asked eagerly. Even though she was salivating over the Power of Rot, she wanted to have all the information she could get before she decided anything…

Death smiled softly after hearing Destiny's question. "You will receive Authority over death… not me, but death" Death explained cryptically. She loved the frustrated look on Destiny's face… The girl had dared to put off her offer, so Death thought that it would be alright to amuse herself at the expense of the girl.

Destiny was frustrated… No matter what, she was a scholar at heart, so new and obscure knowledge was always able to get her attention… Then all of a sudden a thought clicked inside her mind. "Master of Death?" Destiny muttered with a surprised look on her face. ''You will receive Authority over Death… not me, but death' that is what Death said, right?' Destiny started to wonder what Death meant by that.

Death frowned at first, but she quickly realized why Destiny would say something like that. As soon as Death realized what Destiny was referring to, she started to laugh… It wasn't elegant, it was a peal of full-blown belly laughter. Death grabbed both of her sides as she continued to laugh. Destiny simply raised her delicate eyebrows in question and decided to wait for Death to calm down. After all, Death obviously found something funny about the Title…

Destiny realized that Title might be just a hoax… After all, there was no way that someone could gain control over a being like Death by collecting three trinkets. Death's power of unfathomable… It might be some sort of trap of entertainment for Death… Death finally started to calm down. Death gave Destiny a grateful look, but Destiny could understand why Death was giving her that look.

"Thanks for that, Destiny… It has been some time since I laughed like that" Death released a tired sigh as she wiped the corner of her eyes. "The Title is true… Master of Death. If you collect all three of those trinkets then you do become the Master of Death, but it is nothing like what you are thinking…" Death shook her head with an unreadable look on her face.

At first, Destiny was surprised when Death admitted that a person would become the Master of Death if they somehow collected all three Hallows, but Death said that it was different… So, Destiny could only eagerly wait for Death to elaborate. "The person who becomes the Master of Death would be able to control their own death… nothing more, nothing less" Death explained and Destiny frowned at Death's words.

"So, if someone becomes the Master of Death, they could live forever? Immortality or True Immortality?" Destiny asked with a confused look on her face.

"Technically, the person would receive True Immortality, but isn't that simple…" Death said slowly as she raised her hand. Green smoke started to come out of her hand and a small holographic screen formed over her hand. A man appeared over her hand, the man possessed three artifacts, Destiny easily recognized two of them as she still had the Stone in her possession and she had the Wand in her possession in the past… This was the first time she saw the Cloak of Invisibility. It was a silvery cloak, completely unassuming, but it was one of three legendary artifacts…

"A human cannot live forever… It is simply impossible. The True Immortality would stop the body from dying, it would keep the human alive" Death spoke as the image over her hand showed how the man went through countless battles, completely unharmed… She showed how the man defeated armies on his own at took over the whole world… Even though the image was small, Destiny could clearly see everything. She felt like she was inside some sort of Pensieve…

Then Destiny saw how even Time wasn't able to erode the man… The man lived through centuries and soon the centuries turned into a millennium, and that is when everything started to change. The man started to become slow and after only two more centuries, the man became still like a statue… The man was still alive as he was still breathing, but he didn't die. A lot of people tried to kill the man after he stopped moving, but the man lived through all of that…

They quickly realized that they still couldn't kill the man, so they put him inside a vat of concrete, and then they boarded the concrete block into a spaceship and launched him into space… The man stayed alive, but he never got better. The man's fate is what stopped Destiny from accepting the gift of True Immortality. Though she couldn't understand what happened to the man… Why did the man start to become slow and ended up losing any sense at the end??

"His body might have been immortal…but his mind was mortal. You see, human minds are not made to last that long… It crumbles away. The man's mind crumbled away as the time passed… He held strong for quite a bit of time, I will give him that, but there is no way that a mortal mind could last forever… Before he became the Master of Death, he was a normal Wizard. He might have been stronger than the others, but he was only above average…" Death explained with a small smile on her face.

Meanwhile, Destiny found herself quite disturbed by the whole tale. "If I accept the offer, then the same will happen to me…" Destiny muttered in complete horror…

Death couldn't help but snort at that… "Nope… As soon as you accept my offer, you will stop being a human. You will become my Avatar, so you will no longer be a mortal. Even your mind would evolve along with the rest of your body and Soul…" Death explained haughtily. Destiny didn't know if Death was lying or not, but she could only believe what Death was saying… After all, she didn't have another source.

There was something else Death mentioned that caught Destiny's attention. Death mentioned something about the Soul… "Soul? What can you tell me about the Soul?" Destiny asked curiously. To be honest, Destiny didn't know much about the Soul, after all, Soul Magic was extremely rare, so obviously she wanted to know more about Soul and Soul Magic.

"Hmm…" Death tapped her cheek with her index finger with a thoughtful look on her face and after a few moments of silence, she finally lowered her hand and smiled at Destiny… "I don't think I will… You aren't ready to learn Soul Magic… It could be quite dangerous for a mortal, especially when they don't have any means to heal their Soul…" Death answered sweetly.

Even though Destiny was displeased by Death's answer, there wasn't much she could do to change Death's mind at this moment and Death did mention that she wasn't ready to learn Soul Magic… So, there was a chance that someday Death was going to teach her… She simply needed to wait and bide her time. There was another reason why Destiny decided to give up on the idea for now. Death mentioned that they did not have any means to heal the Soul…

So, if Destiny ended up harming her Soul then there was no way to fix it… At least, they did not have any means to heal the Soul and Destiny did not know what would happen to her if she ended up harming her Soul… The effects wouldn't be good for her, that much she was sure of…

So, Destiny decided that the topics of Soul and Soul Magic could wait for later. After all, Death wanted Destiny to become her Avatar, so it was pretty obvious that this wasn't going to be their last meeting. Destiny could ask Death about Soul and Soul Magic somewhere down the line, but there was something else Destiny needed to know before Death could send her back…

"Who was the giant woman I saw inside Albus' mind?" Destiny asked. She wasn't sure if Death would reveal anything about her fellow God or not, but she needed to give it a try…

Destiny's thoughts came to a screeching halt when Death started to speak. "Her name is Altair, she to referred to as the Goddess of Brilliant Light. Thanks to her direct interference with the mortal world, we are having this meeting… I mean I do not care about her. I would have still met you even if she hadn't interfered directly, but it would have been somewhere in the future…" Death explained casually and Destiny stored all the information she received from Death inside her head.

"Is there a chance of her attacking me again in the future?" Destiny asked warily. She wasn't afraid of Altair like she was afraid of Death, but Destiny knew the difference between their power levels… So, it would be laughingly easy for Altair to kill her if she wanted.

"No… She won't if she knows what is good for her… I will be sending her a warning. From now on, she won't be attacking you directly… Since you will be going to be in contact with quite a few Gods including me from now on, I will allow her to remain in contact with her Agents…" Death explained with a grin and Destiny couldn't help but give Death disapproving looks…

"I would be much happier if they stopped existing altogether…" Destiny deadpanned and Death started to chuckle. After a few moments, Death stopped laughing and glared at Destiny. Destiny flinched back in fear when she found Death's pupilless eyes glaring at her… Destiny gulped loudly as she realized that she might have said something she shouldn't have… Moments later, Death's features finally softened…

"Consider Altair's Agents to be a test… Here I am investing a lot of time in you, so I need to see if you are even worthy of my time or not. If you can't even deal with a bunch of average Wizards and Witches then you are simply not worth it…" Death shrugged dismissively and Destiny didn't know how to react to that…

She was annoyed over the fact that Death was trying to test her in such a manner, but once again, there wasn't much she could do… "I see… Then I guess I will not disappoint you…" Destiny said with an unsure look on her face. After all, she wasn't sure how to reply to Death's statement. "They are from the future, right? So, what about Paradoxes?" Destiny asked curiously. Once again, her curiosity won over her common sense… She knew that she had displeased Death only a few moments ago, but she was still curious…

"Godly Intervention…" Death shrugged. "You won't understand the exact mechanics so just understand that the powers of some Gods and Goddesses are involved" Death added in a bored tone as she waved her hand. Destiny wanted to know more but it was clear that Death wasn't going to tell her, so she decided to drop the matter.

"It isn't like you haven't profited from their existence in your Timeline…" Death said cryptically and Destiny couldn't help but raise her brows at that. Death noticed the curious look in Destiny's eyes and a smirk appeared on her face. Her Avatar candidate was such a nerd… "You see, they shouldn't have existed in your Timeline, so their existence ruins the balance in your Universe… So, to maintain the balance, the Universe decided to increase your power since they are targeting you" Death explained with a grin…

"You were never supposed to reach the Crystallized Core State so soon… It should have taken you a couple of decades more… So, there is that" Death shrugged and after a minute, Destiny finally nodded her head in understanding. It was kind of hard to come to terms with everything she had learned from Death.

"I see… Thanks for telling me all of that and uh… Thanks for the offer too… I wouldn't lie, the offer is pretty enticing, but I don't know what to do… It is a big decision to make… I need to think this through" Destiny said with a hint of nervousness in her voice. Death smiled and nodded her head in understanding…

"I understand where you are coming from… After all, being someone Avatar is a huge responsibility…" Death nodded her head sagely. "Oh… By the way, get the Death Stick as soon as possible… It is a small gift, but it will give you a glimpse of the power I am offering… You don't need to thank me by the way, never let it be known that Lady Death isn't magnanimous… Now, off you go" Death puffed out her chest with a grin and waved her hand at Destiny…

Destiny simply disappeared before she could even show any reaction or say anything to Death… She was way too gobsmacked by Death's words to react. Anyone in her place would have reacted in the same manner… Death stared at the place Destiny was standing with a soft smile on her face. Death was looking forward to the test… She wanted to see how Destiny dealt with those annoyances and if by any chance Destiny failed, then she wasn't worth it…

"Lady Death, how is life treating you?" All of a sudden, an amused voice was heard from beside Death and moments later, a pale blue-skinned figure appeared beside Death. The figure was dressed in a skimpy black lingerie armor with golden aesthetics. The woman had two-pointy ears along with silver hair and pitch black eyes. Death didn't react at the arrival of the new figure…

(Image Here)

"Haha… very funny. It has been some time since we met... Don't you agree, Gaia?" Death asked in an amused tone and the other woman now recognized as Gaia covered her mouth and started to giggle…

"Fufufu… It has been some centuries~~" Gaia continued to giggle and Death simply rolled her eyes at the antics of Gaia…

Death was extremely annoyed at the arrival of Gaia even though she wasn't showing it on her face… She could already guess why the annoying hussy decided to make an appearance. The blue-skinned harlot was probably planning to try to steal Destiny from her. Death clutched her hands in fury… She would rather die… (no puns intended) than let this harlot get her claws into Destiny…

<Line Break>

Destiny gasped in shock as she shot up from her bed… She frantically looked around only to find herself back inside her hotel room… She released a huge sigh and started to rub her face with a relaxed look on her face. Destiny's whole body was covered by a thin sheen of sweat. After a few moments of silence, Destiny looked outside the window only to find that the sun was already up…

"Motherfucker…" Destiny muttered with a grimace as she shrugged off the covers revealing her body. She wasn't wearing any clothes under the sheets, after all, she preferred to sleep naked… 'I am sure it wasn't a dream… It felt too real to be a simple dream… So, I did meet Death' Destiny couldn't help but grimace. Her life was becoming complicated with each passing day…

'I was already planning to get the Death Stick, but now that Death had done something to Death Stick, I couldn't wait to wait to check it out…' Destiny mused with a soft smile on her face. Even though Destiny wasn't sure about the whole offer, she couldn't deny the fact that having Death's power would be awesome and she was practically salivating over the prospect of having Death's power in her hands…

Destiny started to chuckle as she slowly crawled out of the bed. After a few seconds, she finally stopped chuckling and clutched her fist with a vicious grin on her face. "For the Greater Good…" Destiny muttered viciously and her eyes started to glow as she started to release her power…
