Chapter 34: Chapter 33: Exploring.
The night of winter, the sun sets very early giving the feeling that the day has gotten shorter. All the students sleep quickly due to the cold. Quiditch was still going on, the players start practicing early in the morning. And the castle sleeps very early. Professors stay in their rooms, the only person who guards the castle is none other than Filch and his cat. Even they wouldn't roam around the castle too much.
This was the best time for him to go out and explore the castle. Liam didn't want to stay in the castle for the Christmas holidays. He wouldn't be able to give an excuse to Mrs. Cole and Luke nor he wanted to give an excuse. He had planned to go back and enjoy his Christmas with his family.
He has his black book, he can still study a lot from it back in the as well orphanage, though he wouldn't be able to use magic. He can study a lot of the other things.
'It's time to go and explore.'
Hogwarts was always a very big castle with many unexplored places at least for the students. Students weren't allowed in many areas of the castle for different reasons. Some of them were just places only professors could enter and the others are places restricted due to past events which make those places undesirable to go to.
Like the bathroom in which Moaning Murtle was killed, the area in which the ghost of Ravenclaw's daughter resides in.
But today Liam didn't want to go to such a place because he wasn't prepared to visit such a place nor did he have any purpose. He could ask the ghost of Ravenclaw's daughter Helena about the white lady in the lake but he wasn't sure she would give an answer. Voldemort's actions had made her not trust any living person. Befriending Helena can be done at a later time.
He wanted to go to the restricted area of the Library. The library was very big, and the restricted section was more than thirty present of the library which meant that the professors surely wouldn't be able to read many books. There were still many books which hadn't even been touched.
Liam wanted to try his luck if he could find something…
Anything…
He didn't have a clear purpose.
Liam wore a less conspicuous casual black clothes, which provided a bit of stealth in the dark. He had borrowed Michael's magical glasses. Which had a night vision enchantment as well. One day Michael had told him that he used this to study at night. So he borrowed it for 'Night Reading'.
A true statement, he was going to read at night, wasn't he?
Liam could hold his breath for roughly a minute which was not a long time. He had enchanted his boots so that they wouldn't make walking noise. He was fully ready to go.

Liam set out of his room, getting out of the Slytherin Dorm room wasn't much difficult. Walking through the hallway, which had many paintings of sleeping people. Liam walked towards the library.
Opening the lock with a spell, Liam entered the restricted section of the library. Walking pass the shelves which were filled with many old books. Books which had knowledge Liam couldn't touch before.
He kept reading the names of books one after the other trying to find a book which interests him.
Liam wondered around the dark arts section, he didn't fancy dark arts much but he was very curious about it. He didn't want to lose his mind and become a fanatic like those wizards of Azkaban.
Secrets of the Dark arts…, Study of Ritual magic…, Dark Lords in history…
Liam couldn't find a single book which he wanted to read, they just didn't interest him that much.
He kept searching for a book a little longer, but still he couldn't find a single book he wanted to read.
'The restricted section isn't that much of an interesting place, Dumbledore may have already removed all the books which May have some 'Interesting knowledge'. After all, the previous dark lord was nurtured by the books in the restricted section.' he thought, '
I can't even understand how he was able to become as strong as Dumbledore with just the knowledge in this little restricted section.
He may have studied dark arts elsewhere or got some ancient knowledge somewhere. I am able to be much more skillful and know a lot because of the Book of Solomon, if I didn't have that book I wouldn't even be able to do a simple enchantment. On top of which I even have a very big collection of ancient enchantments, spells, and charms. Which could be considered as lost magic.
Surely the dark lord studied the knowledge beyond the advanced dark arts, because of which he was able to grow with such a speed.'
Liam was disappointed by the restricted section of the library.
'As much as I can remember the Mirror of Erised was supposed to be in a classroom behind the restricted area. I don't know if it would be there now but it wouldn't hurt to take a look.'
Walking out of the restricted area of the library, Liam went towards the back of the restricted section.
A round classroom in the dark, which had a single mirror placed in the center. The moonlight which came inside the room was reflected by the mirror. The mirror just didn't reflect the light but it also intensified it making it shine brighter.
It was a sight to behold, the room was very magical. The glasses which Liam was wearing allowed him to see the enchantments on the mirror. Which were shining in golden light. Those enchantments were done in ancient language, he didn't understand any of it even though having studied ancient enchantments himself.
He walked towards the mirror slowly, he could see the enchantments releasing very fine magical fluctuations which were like threads. These threads were approaching Liam as he was closing near to the mirror. The speed at which the threads of magic wrapped around him rose as he got near the Mirror.
Liam was in daze as he looked at those threads of magical fluctuations, it was his first time ever witnessing such a magical item.
'Ancient magic was such complex and beautiful. It makes me want to study it more and more.'
Just as he was about to reach the mirror he heard something fall.
Duumm…
He could hear a noise of a person talking…
