Chapter 62: Davidsons, Part 2

Fingers crossed. Lips pressed in a thin line. Her legs jumpy as she waited in the almost silent corridors. The low sounds of the wheels being turned from one place to another and the ding of the elevators kept her eyes roaming with no tears spilt. Yet her skin was covered in tear stains. The white walls and bright lights brought back memories she had been trying to suppress. The helpless night that gave birth to hopelessness kept circling back in her head as her eyes pictured those shadows roaming the same hallways for the first time. They had no face, yet she could see the beating heart in them. Pounding with every tick of the clock as their feet paced the hallway. That one shadow would stop every while to talk to someone, with her tear-stained face; every passer-by would try to soothe the ache she was feeling. Yet nothing could stop the thumping heart.
